Sono Bello / SonoBello Atlanta -- Freaking Out

Hello all,   I'm a researcher and, I think, a pretty smart person. I consulted with two doctors before choosing Sono Bello in Atlanta to perform my SmartLipo procedure: arms, abs, bra roll.   My surgery is in 6 days and I am beyond freaked out by all of the negative review sites out there. I don't know if I adequately sussed out the best place for this surgery.   I've emailed the clinic for reassurance and checked and double-checked my doctor (Stefan Adair's) credentials.   Still terrified. I mean I haven't slept in 36 hours, terrified.   Any advice or encouragement or hard truths would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I too have been considering the sonobello for my abs and "muffin top" I have talked to the "sales rep" and have an appointment to consult with the dr. next week. I've been excited to get this excess fat off, but after reading all these post.. I'm really concerned, actually scared. The facility I will be going to is in Kansas.. I sure would like to have comments from previous patients from this facility..

Hello, I was refered to Sonobello in Bellevue by my friend that had gone there. I had my abs and thighs done. I just had my 6 months review and I am very happy with my results. No issues with them at all and it is NOT beneath me to walk right out the front door if I'm not like the staff or doctors. I'm learning there is a a lot of negative because plastic surgeons have more schooling on this procedure. I disagree that they are better. It's just not true. Whenever I read a plastic surgeon dogging another surgeons website I immediately hit delete. This is what Sonobello deals in, Lipo, and they are good at what they do.

TMC22, Please tell us if you had the procedure and if possible, as a researcher, please help us by sharing your results as I'm finding both positive and negative stories and I don't think we can 100% believe any whether positive or negative unless the person is willing to post their results. This also goes for the Aqualipo. It was recently in the paper that a 16 year old was paid to write positive reviews on Angie's list for some plumbers. I've just started researching this and decided unless I see clear before and after pictures and/or talk to at least two people who have had smart lipo done in the Tampa Bay office, I'm just not going to take the risk .

So, did you have the surgery and if so how did it go and did you get the results you hoped for?

I'm not obese but I do have some trouble spots I'm ready to get rid of. I want to make sure before pouring 6k into this, that it meets the expectations of the clients that have used this company. I've heard that they don't care, or meet the expectations you were given. Any insight or suggestions???

I can assure all of you that the reason for the negative results is the technology that is being used is SmartLipo. That laser is notorious for bad results. If you are interested in getting laser liposuction, research the Slim Lipo laser technology from Palomar. I work with Doctors at Northside Hospital and they have used both technologies and 9 out of 10 will not use the Smart Lipo laser any more.

I never heard of liposuction being done in any particular hospital so could you please tell us how or where we can find the written results where you said the doctors at Northside Hospital who now say that 9 out of 10 won't use the smart lipo laser anymore? So far I've found that doctor's seem to do all these procedures in their own surgery centers so this is an interesting development and I would like to know how we can find the results ourselves. Thank you.

I called the Northside hospital in St. Petersburg, Fl who are part of a larger "chain" around the country for lack of a better word...The on-call volunteer nurse was not aware of any cosmetic surgery center and said that their may be plastic surgery doctors affiliated with the hospital but he was not aware of any study or surgery center for liposuction. Again, since you said you work with doctors at Northside, I'm wondering in what capacity and where are you getting your research that they will not use smart lipo laser? Is this just word of mouth or what?

How do you know they were not referring to Northside Hospital here in Atlanta?

I used Sono Bello in Tampa and loved them!

Would you be willing to share your before and after pictures and what did you have done and where? There is so much pro and con that I think it would help us all if real people would share their positive or negative results.

The reviews about Sono Bello often are deleted, I assume because mostly are negative. I went to Sono Bello in Kirkland, payed a fortune, got really weird results, got treated like it is my fault for that. I feel like I payed for a drive trough lipo, where they just want to kramp as many patients as possible, do a super quick minimal fix, leave you with uneaven results and planty of fat.

I believe what you are saying; however, I don't think that Real Self will delete anyone's posts unless they are clearly spam or abusive. One person posted "I was deformed" by another type of lipo procedure and went into great detail about her and her aunt's terrible results; which would be devastating to the doctor; yet it was not deleted. I don't think it is really fair to ANYONE when making major negative claims unless a person actually shares pictures so we could all really see what is she talking about and as far as pain involved...I think that would be something very individual. Did your results ever resolved themselves as It would really help if you would share what happened in pictures. I said the same thing to the person who just before you said she "loved her results" but she didn't show any pictures either so what are we all suppose to believe?

I had a choice of three doctors two of which my Gynecologist referred. I felt that since he assisted in the birth of my child that he would give me a good reference. However, I wasn't too pleased about getting put to sleep. So when I heard that I could be awake, I ran with that. I am still researching the pros and cons but my mind is pretty made up. Wow that is interesting that the company contacted you regarding your post.

Ask your Gyne or have someone who trusts their Dr.to ask them for a referral, if you havent already.

Well, Mistic. Shortly after posting this I received an email from Sono Bello saying they read my post and figured out I was the patient. I responded that yes I was concerned because I didn't know much about the doctor but hoped pre-op appointment would ally my fears.

I then got a call from a manager who told me that the doctor was new but it would be fine.

When I went in for my pre-op appointment on Friday I was met by yet another manager who almost immediately told me I shouldn't have the surgery if I was so concerned and then had another doctor (Welsh) come in to tell me that I need to lose 80 pounds to be worth it. That would, by the way, make me approximately 90 pounds. I was never examined. Welsh never even sat down. Adair was not even there. It had obviously been decided that I was not the kind of patient they wanted.

I was given a refund and told to have a nice day. In all I'd rearranged my conference travel schedule, my parents had used vacation time and purchased airfare to be with me, and I wasted my time which, for me, is money.

After a few days of decompression I'm now considering other doctors. Any recommendations for Atlanta area would be much appreciated.

Dr. Schilling in Stockbridge Ga. (20 miles south of Atlanta) Takes the time, explains throughly, and has excellent results.

I can agree with you. I visited his office on yesterday and he is going to fix what Dr. Boutte obviously messed up. I am so upset with that office I don't know what to do. I can't believe that I spent all that money for practically nothing.

Hi TMC22, All I can say is WOW. I've been thinking about the aqua or smart lipo and had planned to lose 10 pounds first to get to 140, a weight I feel I can maintain and then if there are extra bulges to shed, then decide if I needed to get some type of lipo. 17 years ago, I was at 132 and still had big belly and hips and had fantastic results from the lipo I had in Costa Rica but sadly have gained 20 pounds from that and thinking about getting more but thought I would get better results by losing a little weight first. I called Sonobello and she said that some people actually do better by having the procedure done first so now I have consults with smart lipo and the aqualipo next week. Clearly, there is more to look into before making any final decision about this. See my other comments on this thread as to why I say this.
