How To Keep From Snacking

By mixter on 11 May 2011

Well ladies, I'm three weeks post op tomorrow and I can really see the results now. Yes my tummy is still swollen but I actually have an hourglass again! So happy about that. I'm glad I also did the lipo because I doubt it would look as good otherwise. Now the key to keeping it off is not to snack. I already eat healthy so I had to devise a way to stop snacking. Here is my method. Everytime I want to have a piece of candy or a cookie, I immediately say to myself $8,500. That's how much it cost me to pay for this. It keeps me from taking that snack and eating it. I sure as heck hope I can keep this up.

Great idea! Snacks have got to be the downfall of all of us. Hope your method works. I'd love to learn how other ladies avoid snacking, too. Or replace carby, sweet snacks with healthier substitutes.

That is a great idea! We spent all that money, time, pain, etc. We better keep it! LOL

Works like a charm...I also keep my pre op pictures on the frig and one of the kitchen cabinets.

That way every time I head to the frig or snack cabinet I see that and run the other direction quickly.  Never want to go back to that again.

Until you are healed and through the surgery you really don't have a clue how hard you have to work to keep the weight off.  It is a constant work in progress for maintenance.  But very worth it!

I have the same problem ... therefore I keep a few bowls of protein snacks like pistashios, almonds, seeds, etc without salt on them. I drink 8 glasses of water per day and that fills me up. I love carbs, but now that I push protein foods, I'm down to 112 lbs with my 5 feet!

I'm willing to try anything. I have not been very good the last 2 weeks. Quitting smoking, not being able to exercise and ya bordome of sitting on my butt is not helping! I have had a before pic on my fridge since I started my weight loss journey that does help.

When I quit smoking for my surgery...I ate more...I gained 4lbs....blah...we just have to find other stuff to keep us occupied:)

Kristen nice to see someone has the same struggle. Not only the surgery but then you couple the effects of quitting smoking can be so though. What do you do to keep yourself from smoking?

Just take it in baby steps.  Focus on the not smoking part first.  That is the most healthy thing you can do is quit.  Once your lungs are all cleared out and you are feeling better you can focus on the weight.  One thing at a time.

Stopping the smoking is the best thing you could have ever done.  Your body will thank you:)
