I wore my contour for months. I am very satisfied so far with results, no it is not completly flat, and I am going to go back in and do another procedure, but my upper stomach is flat, it is my lower stomach that needs some more work. But very happy!
Did the lumps go away? If so, after how long?
Ive been reading about eating pineapple and drinking water with lemon, how does these items help after smartlipo. I am considering doing it and I am curious. Thanks n advance.
It does not help-just get the massages after! I had this done on Nov 9th-and I am still hard in spots and not completly 100% results-but I am VERY happy with my results thus far. My stomach is not pretty but it looks so much better with clothes on-my stomach is pretty much flat! The pain at first was awful-not true you can go back to work next day-it was bloody and painful-I was real sore for a good month after-I had my surgery done on a Thurs and was back at work on Monday-but could not stand straight. Worth it though-I would def do it again! Good luck! :)
Thank you!Yes, I have come to terms it is not going to be a quick fix! Did most of your swelling go down my week 4? I saw my dr this evening and he said everything looks great and my lower part of my stomach is more swollen and does not look different because all of the fluid sunk down, but will shrink and flatten out-but it is going to be a slow process. I forgot to ask him about the Vela-I will make sure I do that. I am not a fan of lemon in my water-does the lemon help anything or do you just use it for flavor? Thanks again for all of your information! (Oh and its Angie :) but that name was taken). lol Hope you are in full recovery soon as well! I can't wait until I can work out again!
I felt like I had sunburn "on the inside"..I was very uncomfortable. It became a little depressing by week 2...I had trouble lying on my side. The binder I had to wear with the garment for two weeks was the worst.
The main thing I've come to terms with, is that this is NOT a quick fix. I thought going in that I would pretty much be back to normal after two weeks. I will be at week four this saturday, and I feel and look ALOT better today -- the Vela really helped shape and tighten my abs -- as well as taking down swelling.
I buy two pineapples per week, and eat about 3/4 cup chopped pineapple with plain yogurt for breakfast. Drinking LOTS of lemon water really has helped me feel better, as well as avoiding high sodium foods (basically anything I haven't prepared myself!).
I'm nearly back to my normal activities - hiking, walking, weight lifting, spinning - but I can't run yet, I feel the stinging and some general tightness around my abs so I am waiting until that goes away.
Hope you feel better soon, Asher! Keep taking good care of yourself as you have been, it will get better soon!
Thank you it does. Massages come with my package-there is something else they said too, but it hurts more so they recommended the massages. I have not been told abou the pineapple, or arnica tablets-I will get those this evening-thank you! How much pineapple should I eat? I do wear the garment 24/7-except when I shower and wash it of course. I am tired of being in pain-I want to move around normally. There seems to be a lot of stinging underneath my skin as well-especially if I am laying in bed and I try and move to my side-is that normal? Thank you for the advise-much appreciated! =)
Ps sorry about the typos -- IPhone post!!
Hi Asher,
I had Smart Lipo done on my upper and lower abs and flanks 3 1/2 weeks ago. I had 1700 cc or roughly 3.5 pounds of fat removed from these areas. My peak swelling was until approximately 2.5 weeks, then the hardness and lumps set it - which I am told--is the collagen forming the "Matt" that will adhere the skin back to the underlying muscles. I just began Velashape treatments, which are supposed to help smooth the healing areas as well as allow any remaining fluid retention to drain infinite lymphatic system. (3 sessions were included with my procedure)
I am seeing changes in my body daily. The best advice I have to offer is what my Dr told me -- keep massaging the areas a few times a day, drink plenty of water with lemon juice, eat fresh pineapple daily, take arnica tablets, avoid alcohol, and continue to wear the compression garment (24/7 first 2 weeks, now just during my workday).
I notice that swelling and lumps and bumps cone and go. At first I was feeling like you, wondering if it was worth all the trouble I had put myself through, but now I have decided not to pass any judgement till the 3 month mark, when 75% of the healing and recontouribg has taken place.
I hope this helps!!
I had smartlipo done a week ago on my upper and lower stomach-I am still really sore. Hard to get up from a sitting position and then walk normally. How long does it take for the pain to go away? I do not mind a little soreness-but I want to feel normal again! Also, my upper stomach looks really flat-does not look pretty but flat my lower stomach (where most of the fat was taken) I am trying to shrink my C-section bulge looks the same if not worse-I am assuming it is just swollen it feels hard-but concerned will it go down..I do not know why my upper stomach is flat and my lower stomach no change. I just pray to God this is all worth it!!! I want to be able to go out and feel normal and now I am just stuck at home feeling awful. I know it has only been a week-and I am okay with that-I just do not want to be feeling and looking this horrible in a few weeks from now. Any advise is greatly appreciated! Thank you! =)
I had my upper and lower stomach/abs done three days ago. i'm sore and very bloated. how long did it take before you noticed any changes? i'm very depressed today.
Question for you. I just had the procedure today and I am starting to get fulid pockets on my inner thighs. Did you experience this at all? Thank you in advance.
Do you mean that your noticing a lump? If so, you need to get massages done asap to get them down so they don't harden. You will excrete fat through your urine naturally but the massages prevent the lumps from hardening which become permanent feeling like rock or bone. Do not let this happen!
I had lumps and hardness... if that's what u mean. It will look worse before it gets better! It took a good 3 months for full results, after that no change. I do need to go back... I just do not if I want to go thru the pain again. I'm happy w my results, overall. However, I still have a some sagging that needs to go...my upper stomach flat. By my belly button it is a bit droopy and forms a sad face is what I call it. Don't worry, lumps, bumps, swelling and hardness will go away. Patients is key!! Good luck!
I feel like that in my lower stomach.. why do not let this happen? I massaged and never fully went away. It is not noticeable or bothersome.
Yep my belly button has the same look!!!
is it just me or i hear only women complaining about lumps ? so far i havent found one single guy who got smart lipo and complained about the lumps ... considering that women develop cellulite and men rarely do, like only 2% of men do, is due to genetics and hormones, so some people will develop more lumps than others, women will develop more lumps than men because their skin is thinner .. Men usually have thicker skin that protects them from getting cellulite.

It can also be more difficult to physically see cellulite in men because of the way a man’s fat is stored underneath the skin.
Well, I am a man and I developed lumps in the tummy area but after three and a half months or so they were gone. My doctor used steroids shots to dissolve them quicker even though he told me they would be gone anyway. It was a way to speed up the process. It's true that having thick skin helps a lot too.
yeah it can happen to men as well, but it is more common with women because their skin is thinner, and also because their fat is different from ours, usually if you get lipo on your abdomen you are more likely to develop those lumps, it seems that the lower abdomen is more resistant to these lumps, it also happen if too much fat is removed from that area, maybe that was your case, the abdomen is not a very good area for liposuction because of these irregularities are very common, the love handles on the other hand are perfect for lipo. The best a man can do is lose weight until the upper abdomen is flat, and since the lower abdomen is the most resistant, get that lipoed, so it looks even with your flat upper abdomen, that way you will not develop on the most important area of the abdomen, the upper area
Great advice for men. I just had the love handles done because as you stated...its not unusual to develop lumps in the abs. Additionally, my love handles had more fat then my stomach. When I lost weight to the point where I can see a 6 pack...my love handles were still evident. Now my love handles have the same layer of fat as my stomach.
same thing here, i also got it done only on the love handles, but still have some fat on my abdomen
orlandopunk - I had my flanks done a month ago and they are still sore. Did you feel the same at 4 weeks? How long did it take for the soreness to go away? Also, many people here recommend to drink lots of water, water with lemon, pineapple juice..etc. My doctor did not make any such recommendations. Did yours? He just said "see me again in 2 months". The only thing im doing now is taking arnica as well as motrin for the sourness. thanks
you have to drink lots of water regardless if you had surgery or not, lemonade and pineapple juice although delicious lol would not help at all with soreness, those are nothing more than myths and placebo effect, same thing with arnica, sure it has been proven to help, but is very little .. i never took arnica, i feel like is a waste of money, it isn't going to maker any real difference, but if you have the money lol yes i still felt soreness after 4 weeks, it takes time to go away, i really don't remember the exact time it went away, but probably after 3 months, after 6 months it was all normal, like i never had surgery .. now i'm at 8 months, most of the time i just forget that i had it done, since it looks and feels normal, you forget you had it done and go on with your life like nothing happened
Sept 14,2011 I had my upper lower abs, waist and hips done with the laser lipo method. I'm 10 days into healing. I obviously see a big difference in size but along with everyone else my skin is hard and there is alot of swelling. I've been told by the dr we should be at 80% of our healing at that point. So though I am sore and hard I am happy with the results so far. I'm going to start massaging day 14. I lost 8 pounds. Was 149 5ft4in. Now 141. Have some patince you guys, it will all come together.
Sorry I did not finish up my comment regarding the 80% healing point and results. That would be at 3 months after surgery.
