The main thing I've come to terms with, is that this is NOT a quick fix. I thought going in that I would pretty much be back to normal after two weeks. I will be at week four this saturday, and I feel and look ALOT better today -- the Vela really helped shape and tighten my abs -- as well as taking down swelling.
I buy two pineapples per week, and eat about 3/4 cup chopped pineapple with plain yogurt for breakfast. Drinking LOTS of lemon water really has helped me feel better, as well as avoiding high sodium foods (basically anything I haven't prepared myself!).
I'm nearly back to my normal activities - hiking, walking, weight lifting, spinning - but I can't run yet, I feel the stinging and some general tightness around my abs so I am waiting until that goes away.
Hope you feel better soon, Asher! Keep taking good care of yourself as you have been, it will get better soon!
I had Smart Lipo done on my upper and lower abs and flanks 3 1/2 weeks ago. I had 1700 cc or roughly 3.5 pounds of fat removed from these areas. My peak swelling was until approximately 2.5 weeks, then the hardness and lumps set it - which I am told--is the collagen forming the "Matt" that will adhere the skin back to the underlying muscles. I just began Velashape treatments, which are supposed to help smooth the healing areas as well as allow any remaining fluid retention to drain infinite lymphatic system. (3 sessions were included with my procedure)
I am seeing changes in my body daily. The best advice I have to offer is what my Dr told me -- keep massaging the areas a few times a day, drink plenty of water with lemon juice, eat fresh pineapple daily, take arnica tablets, avoid alcohol, and continue to wear the compression garment (24/7 first 2 weeks, now just during my workday).
I notice that swelling and lumps and bumps cone and go. At first I was feeling like you, wondering if it was worth all the trouble I had put myself through, but now I have decided not to pass any judgement till the 3 month mark, when 75% of the healing and recontouribg has taken place.
I hope this helps!!
It can also be more difficult to physically see cellulite in men because of the way a man’s fat is stored underneath the skin.
