Smart Lipo on Knees, Calves and Ankles

Salutations! I'm new to the group and wanted to blog about the smart lipo procedure on my knees, calves and ankles yesterday. When I was researching online there were not too many personal experiences with lipo on this area, so I hope this will help other people considering this area. First off, I'm 5'8' and weigh 145 lbs. I've always been tall and curvy but my lower half never matched my upper half. I have (had) heavey lower legs, my ankles were 10" in circumfrence and calves were 15" in circumfrence. My knees had a rather large amount of fat on the inner knee pads, as well on top of the knee. Today is my first morning after surgery and I must say, it's not as terrible as some people say it was going to be. My knees do not bother me much, but I will say my calf muscles are extremely sore. It almost feels like I worked out hardcore with my calves and they are just very sore to walk on. I've been keeping my legs elevated to help with the swelling, as well I'm wearing my compression garments - which aren't the most comfortable things. This morning I go for my post-op visit where he'll remove the garment and take post-op pictures . I will follow-up with my recovery as the days go on and will post more pictures throughout the recovery. For now, have a great day! Slim Legs (wannabe)

My original "after" pics were deleted from my Mobile Me website b/c they came out with iCloud and got rid of the Gallery feature. If you'd like to see after pictures, go to Instagram and search MissFit2014 and you will see lots of pictures. That is my fitness Instagram page where you'll also see that after the surgery I lost a lot of weight too. Hope that helps!!!

Hi everyone! My apologies for letting the conversation go stagnant on my part. So, here's an 1.5 year update. I LOVE my new legs. The differences were subtle when it came to measurements but just enough to make a big difference in my entire look. I only lost abut half an inch in my ankle and an inch in my calves, but I can tell a big difference just from that. I'm really glad I decided to get my knees done because that made the biggest difference. About 6-9 mos in it I still hadn't seen any results and I started to get worried that I wasted my money, but as you all have done your research, they say it takes at least a year to really see the full results - and it's very true! I've finally stopped swelling at the end of the day and they stay shapely all the time now. I will say that the recovery was pretty bad looking back. My legs hurt for weeks and for the first two weeks I still couldn't walk normally. I had to convince everyone at work that I had injured my knee, haha. Also, I still don't have full sensation where the scars are and it tingles whenever I touch in that general area. Also, the scars were very minimal and I really can't even see them anymore. All in all I would say it was very worth it. I'm very happy with my results but my advice to anyone would be not to expect huge difference with measurements and be patient b/c it will take a year or more to see the full effect. Hope this helps! I'd like to post some more after pictures but I'm not exactly sure how to add any to this convo.

Great to hear your update SlimLegs!!!! YOU LOOK AMAZING!!! I checked out your Instagram! Great job!!!! I am at my 1.5 year mark as well and I couldn't be happier with my results. I look at old pictures of my "old legs" and I think....OMG were those really my legs?!?!?! I'll update my page as well with some new pictures. I have my 1 yr and I'll take another 1.5 yr. I agree, the best is advice is to be very patient. I still have some swelling at the end of the day but I had swelling in my legs pre-surgery; it's not as bad now but there is still some. I also still have a spot on the back of my ankle that does not have all the skin sensation. It was definitely all very worth it and I'd do it again 100 times for what it's given me. Take care and thanks for the update! Keep up the great work with your fitness, you look amazing! Cheers!

Hi all,

Ive just reached my target weight loss, im 5f 2inchs and I was 212pounds, now im stabalising at 118pounds. It is one thing loosing weight and achieving this but my body looks terrible, from stretch marks, to loose skin and problem areas. Ive considered now wanting a complete makeover, one thing at a time though. The main area im starting with is my lower legs, they havnt lost their turkey large shape :( I cant wear a shirt or dress, even now when im at my target weight loss. So im delighted to read this blog and it is encouraging. I will go for a consultation soon, for smart liposuction and liposuction.

Congrats on the major weight loss and good luck on the lipo. From what I've read, its important to find someone who has alot of experience not only in lipo but also in the area you are having treated.

Hey girls,
So happy to have found you. I'm considering this procedure and am wondering if at this point you still have end of the day swelling and if so, is it so bad that you can't wear shorts or skirts? In the end, was it worth it???? Thanks so much!!!!
Cowlegs 24 Jul 2012
Well worth it. The surgery itself was a breeze. Felt like I had ran a marathon for 2 days. I am almost 2 months post op and still can't get my boots on. They were 17 inches r down a couple of inches my ankles and knees look great. When I go back in Sept going to ask if she can take more off the thickest part of my leg. They say be patient but it is hard. Would not hesitate to have it done again. Good luck Cowlegs

Nice to hear from you! So I'm assuming the reason you can't get your boots on is because of swelling? Does this mean you wouldnt wear a skirt just yet?? But you still think its worth it? Do you see improvement in the swelling? Also wondering if you had a local or general anesthesia.
Cowlegs 25 Jul 2012
I have been wearing skirts and really think my legs look great they still have swelling but compared to how stalky and stumpy they did look a little swelling is nothing. I had general anesthesia and the procedure took about 3 hours. I would recommend it to anyone who has heavy legs and bothered by them.

It has been one month since my knee, calf and ankle lipo. My calves where a gigantic 17 inches. They r defiantly smaller but not enough to get boots on. Glad to find this post as am getting a little depressed about my results. The surgery was definitely easier than I expected.

Hi Slimlegs!!

I have been considering this procedure, & really appreciate your forum! It is great to have a real person's expierence to read. I was curious, since you are close to a year post surgery, have you noticed weight gain in other places? I read a forum on here that some women did. It has me slightly nervous! Just wanted to see how you were doing now that it has been close to a year for you. Thank you again for sharing your experience!

I was wondering if before your surgery were your legs pretty hard when you were standing up or were they pretty soft and mushy?!?!
SlimLegs 11 Mar 2012
They were hard but I could still pinch fat off the back of my calves.
ba282 11 Mar 2012
hey slim legs im 6 weeks after a calf and ankle lipo and i dont see much of a difference yet... when did u start to notice a real difference? do you have before and after photos? thank you :)

Hi Slimlegs,
I am new to this and have just posted a long message but it appears to have been lost in the ether!!!
I am going to have liposculture on my knees, calfs and ankles in a few weeks, but just today have read soem VERY worrying reports about weight gain on other parts of your body. Have you experienced this?
tairiver 23 Mar 2012
Hi Vetsar,
I was just wondering if you are able to forward us the links of the reports about this weight gain or tell us where you found this information. I had wondered about fat pooling in other places post liposculpture/liposuction.
Thanks heaps. All the best with your procedure.
:-)

Hi girls I am also considering lipo for my lower legs. My calves are at 17 inches and ankles at 10 - I have not warn boots for a long time . Having just lost 50 lb I thought the legs would improve but no. So is it worth it. Any one had a bad experience
Cowlegs 8 May 2013
I had lipo 2 times I'm 5 months. I would do it again if I needed to, but I don't my legs look great. Wear boots and short skirt everyday. Best thing I ever did :)
