Short Torso

By Sinderella414 on 04 Feb 2011

I think web sites need to at least mention that if you have a short torso and want a tt to get rid of stretch marks...you shouldn't get your hopes up. After 28 years of waiting I had my hopes ripped out from under me today when i learned it can't be done. I'm devastated to say the least.

I'm sorry about your disappointment. Stretch marks are so annoying. Believe me, I know first hand. Even on people with longer-torsos, tummy tucks don't remove 100% of the stretch marks. There is quite a lot on RealSelf about this issue. Here is what some doctors have to say about tummy tucks for stretch mark removal.

I knew that I wouldn't be able to get rid of all of my stretch marks. I've read that I could expect to get rid of pretty much everything below my belly button - which was fine with me because I only have one that stretches just above it. So, I was expecting to still have some but that would be hidden by a bathing suit bottom along with the hip-to-hip scar.

Unfortunately, what I was told was that because my torso is short that I would still have a lot of stretch marks, the hip-to-hip scar AND a vertical scar due to not being able to remove the hole from excising my belly button. So, in the end, I would look even worse in a bathing suit that I do now.

I've literally looked at THOUSANDS of photographs and it never occurred to me that I wasn't going to be able to do this and get acceptable results.

I saw many, many photos of women who looked similar to me and they looked great afterwards.

Would you consider posting photos so we can visualize what you're describing? I'm sorry your hopes were dashed! Were you happy with your surgeon?

Sure, if you tell me how to post pictures in the forum I would be happy to.

Yes, I was very happy with the surgeon. As disappointed as I was I appreciated his honesty. He could easily have taken my money there would have been nothing I could do to change my outcome...and obviously the last thing I want is to feel even worse about my appearance.

I would definitely refer women to him who are considering any cosmetic surgery.
