Too short and upturned

I had rhinoplasty 8 days ago. After injuring my nose couple of times in five years it developed a hump on the bridge and very rounded tip. now my nose looks like Michael Jackson :-( my husband and I just cried. It is too short and upturned. Do you think the nose will change that much? Do I have hope? My face looks disfigured :-(  I have told the Surgeon but he just says its too early to judge. Surely one must have some idea as to how much it may change if performed over three thousand rhinoplasty!

Hi! It's been 6 months and thankfully my nose is starting to look nice. My smile is still not right and upper lip hanging low. I will give time and see how it goes.

It will come down a little but you need to find out what implants were used, size of the implant if on was used, etc. He should have given you prednisone or a Kenalog injection. Ask about it. Did he rotate your tip? Was it open rhinoplasty? I was massively swollen (and still am, if less overall--still unsure whether I want to keep the tip elevation/rotation) due to my skin for a month before I started settling. Sorry you're in distress.

Hey irsi, what do you mean about whether to keep the tip rotation? Do you mean you are thinking about getting a revision for your tip if you don't like it?

That's what I mean. I rotated it up this revision and needed an implant put in. I feel really stupid; it's 8 weeks later, I can see what he gave me, and while I had a longer nose before, my surgeon he gave me back a more bulbous version of the nose he gave me eight years ago. I didn't want to see this again. This is my point--it took weeks to actually see what the puffy, shapeless nose would look like. It's not as bad as I thought, but the past eight weeks had been a living hell. My upper lip was sore too--lip graft. That will go away if he was a good surgeon. You, on the other hand, might be happy as the nose settles and takes the shape he gave you. My nose looked like that for the first three or four weeks--ratcheted up.

Thank you Irsi. I don't have any implants. I see a little improvement on my hanging upper lip. My upper gum is sore and just under the nostrils. Nose still not dropped much :-( My surgeon sent me photos of other patients from day 5 to four months later...the difference is amazing! So I am hoping for the same result.. Fingers crossed.
