When does scar tissue develop after a Rhinoplasty?

I just got my splint of from Rhinoplasty today. I am concerned about scar tissue building up and then altering my new nose. I am happy with the result and understand the swelling must go down. I am just worried that scar tissue may not be present now but could be down the road. When do you know you are in the clear for the scar tissue? My surgeon did show me a massage to do.
