If I am going under the muscle anway- for better mammograms-do I HAVE to get saline to be safest, or can I get silicone?? Does it matter if I am completely going subpectorally? I have assymetry in volume, due to two lumpectomies in same area, on same breast 2 years apart. They were benign (thank goodness) but the surgeon took quite a large margin due to family history of BC, both times! (That's why I get yearly MRIs and yearly mammograms- We have a high risk Government Program here in Ontario.) My family tested negative for BRCC1 gene- so that is good news too ;)But after those lumpectomies (scar around nipple- volume loss at about 10-11o'clock) and after three prior breast fed babies- I need some repair ( which happens to be covered by provincial health plan...phew!) I have wanted to do it for about 8 years but was afraid of all the extra mammograms I would then need (the extra Eklund displacement views) and added radiation risk. Remember. I have been getting yearly mammograms already for 12 years or so--- I am just 46 now. Recently, the head radiologist in the program, understood my concerns, and said I don't need to get Eklund displacement views, since I get yearly breast MRIs. Hooray! But now I am wondering if it matters then, if I get silicone or saline. Absolutely EVERYONE seems to get silicone on Real Self--or revise to silicone later for ripples and feel. Does saline ever feel natural and look natural??I am 5'8" and 140 lbs barely C cup- other breast about a B cup. Thanks ladies :)
