By ProudMommy3 on 08 Jun 2011

I was wondering if haveing the tube down your throat is safe for someone who had childhood asthma but still has flare up's once every year or should I tell my dr I want the mask ?

You will meet with the anesthesiologist prior to surgery so please share this with him/her.  If they know ahead of time they are able to deal with this and take precautions.

I personally have mild asthma and they had asked me to bring my inhaler with me to the surgery center.  I made my doctor aware of this and  came through without any problems at all.

But you need to really discuss this with the doctor.
