I'm going in for a follow-up consult with my surgeon today. After committing to the surgery, picking a date, and putting a down payment... I just started to come up with a million more questions (obsessive research and this site contributed to that!). :)

My doctor said he was going to make my entire nose small, refine my tip, and do a closed-surgery. Sounded good to me.. but now I want to see EXACTLY what he has in mind (looking back, it's silly of me not to ask the specifics! but nerves played a role in my first appointment, I assume). I want to know (see pictures) what he has in mind for my tip. I don't have a bump on my nose, but I'm curious if he's going to add a 'scoop' to the shape of the nose. I'm also have some questions for closed vs. open rhinoplasty when it comes to why he thinks this is best, is the recovery easier, etc, etc. Also, my grandmother is coming out from AZ to help me with my 20 month old son for the first five days - I want to be sure that on the 6th day, I'll be ok to drive, pick-up my 28 lb son, etc.

Hopefully, this follow-up consult will answer all my questions and make me even more comfortable with my decision. I can't believe it's only 5 weeks away!

Nervousness is totally normal. Has your girlfriend ever made a major decision in her life? There's always doubt. At least a little bit.

This is a big deal and it's totally sensible to question things. That doesn't mean the decision is wrong, it just means you're a reasonable person who thinks things through.

Hi! I've been looking EVERYWHERE for a up-to-date forum! I have rhinoplasty scheduled for six weeks from now, and I am SO nervous! Is it normal to question your decision as much as I am?! I go back and forth with feeling excited and empowered to "what the heck am I doing?!" My girlfriend says I should feel 100% confident in my decision before going forward... how can you feel 100% confident in having your face changed forever?! I trust my doctor, but there's just so many factors that make me nervous! I have a lot of concerns and questions and would to ask opinions of those who have gone thru the surgery! I would appreciated anyone who is willing to respond!

i had a pretty similar nose from how yours sounds and had my surgery last thursday. im feeling pretty good already! good luck tomorrow and look forward to hearing your story!!

Hi! I go in for a septo/rhinoplasty surgery Monday mornin (October 3rd) I'm quite nervous, because I've never has surgery before! I have a septum problem that makes it difficult to breath, I have a big bump on the bridge and the tip is quite bulbous! Going to have it all fixed! I'm a recovering alcoholic (I'll be 4 years sober this month on the 22nd) and I want to feel as good on the outside as I do on the inside! And I've struggled with how my nose has looked my whole life! I hope my surgery is a success:) Thanks- Deb:)
