If You Have Rhinoplasty Does Your Nose Keep Changing Throughout the Years?

By London4689 on 03 Jun 2011

Hi I am considering a rhinoplasty. I have an oval-longish face and I have quite a long nose with a slight hump. I have read quite a few reviews on this forum which have been helpful. I'm pretty scared to get the nose broken would rather have it shaved instead. Is it true the cartilige continues to grow throughout the years post op and the nose does not remain the same? If I did get a rhinoplasty I dont think I would be able to afford a revision etc. Does anyone know of any nose contouring make-up skills?

I can tell you that after having rhinoplasty 10 years ago, my nose has not changed much because of age, but my nostrils did collapse because of an unskilled original surgeon. That or maybe my nose was just too difficult to work on in the first place. Rhinoplasty is a super intricate procedure. I only wish RealSelf had been around when I was looking for my surgeon, as I didn't know a fraction of what I know now, the number one thing being: Find an ASPS board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in rhinoplasty and has before and after photos to show you.

You may want to consider asking a question of the doctors here on RealSelf. If you do this, be sure to include a photo.

Getting the nose broken for me was the least of my concerns. I was out, whether it was broken or shaved or both didn't matter.

As far as nose contouring, I'm no makeup artist, but I have tried over the years to shade with dark and light colors. Only works if you're pretty heavily made up, though.

I hope this info helps. If you get a chance, you might want to check out my video review here. Good luck, and please come back to let us know what you decided.
