How soon do you see results with Smart LIpo?

Posted 15 Aug 2007

I am having Smart Lipo soon, and I was wondering how soon you can see results. I know what I have read, but I wanted to hear from those who have actually had the procedure. Also, I am worried that the compression garment won't fit under my clothes comfortably and that I will have nothing to wear to work!! Any input on the procedure would be helpful and much appreciated. Thanks!!!

I had smartlipo done at beginning of November 2007. I had my inner and outer thighs and my bingo wings done. I have not seen any results and my measurements have not changed. The doctor used the laser and then suctioned manually with a big syringe apparatus. I went back yesterday and he said it works for some people and not for others. He wants me to go back and have more fat suctioned manually ???? I didnt diet or exercise much more after the procedure, does anyone think this is the cause for it not working?

Hi, I just wanted to mention that I had it done to my Abs and love handles (flanks) I didn't get any results and there was no suction with the smart lipo. I had it done in October and I was told it takes 12 weeks to give it time to continue tightening. Now I am having it done over. I don't think diet has anything to do with it not working. I exercise regulary and weekly.

yes, it would have been smart to go on a little diet, and at least take walks twice a day to better your results and keep the weight off.

I would like to have smart lipo done. It sounds like it could really work. I need some feedback on if anyone has had it done in the Portland area. Do you need to diet and exercise rigorously for the next few weeks, months, etc.? Do you get a diet from the doctor when the procedure is done? What are the health risks? Tracy

does just the tightening work without the suction? for areas that JUST need tightening? Does anyone know?

I had SmartLipo done 4 days ago. The Dr ran the lasar and sucked fat out of my inner/out thigh, saddle bags, knees, and just laser to tighten skin and reduce ripples on the front of my thighs. I am still bruised and swollen as well as a little lumpy (all normal) but my legs are much smaller already. As things improve, I will keep you posted.

Okay, I noticed that you had numerous areas lasered and suctioned at one time. Would you do that over again. I am scheduled for May 9th to have inner/outer thighs, love handles, stomach, saddle bags and loose skin on underside of arms. I am a little worried about having so many areas treated at one time but was given a better price for having all done. I was needing to know if you was so swollen that your clothes were tight for awhile or if swelling went down quickly. DO it hurt when they put the garment on after the procedure. I know how hard it is for me to get one of those things on and can't imagine how in the world they are going to get that on me after giving me meds. to make me out of it!! Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Danielle

I can tell you that I had smart lipo with suction done yesterday and I am in allot of pain. I had my upper/lower abd and flanks done. I know I am very swollen but I look the same. I had planed on also doing my inner thieghs done but they didn't have enough lidocane left. You can only use so much per you total body weight. I will have to have that done in another apt. I am not sure that I will do it. I am taking all the supplements they sell you and pain meds, but I am still in allot of pain. I am hopin that it gets better and that I will at least see some kind of result for everything I am putting myself through. At this point I wished I had not done it. I really hope I feel different soon. Good luck.

I had smart lipo done about ten days ago. I did full stomach, flanks, saddlebags, and banana rolls. I am still pretty sore. I go back in three days for inner thighs, knees. and arms. I am more nervous this time. It doesn't hurt while it's happening but after it is very sore. Has anyone had these area done and if so which was the worst for pain and bruising? Thanks for your help.

Does anyone know how old you have to be to have this procedure done?

Hi Guest 18, Have you seen results yet? How long did it take? What areas did you get done? Was there suctions done? If so, how much? I got my procedure done 3 weeks ago and I still dont see anything. I still can't fit into my cloths. I did my upper and lower abs, I know I am not completely healed yet but I would like to think I should see something. Please give me some insite on the results if you can. Thanks! Mel

I'm thinking about having SmartLipo, Velashape or Lipolysis done and I'm not sure which is better. I'm currently doing my research and came across this site which some of your comments have help me. For those of you that have had the SmartLipo done how long were you sore, how long did you or do you have to wear the compression garment and will you be too sore to participate in extra curricular activities?

What is the recovery time? I work a strenuous job, lifting, pulling & pushing....

It completely depends on the area(s) that you have done. I sit at a computer all day, therefore -I only needed one day. But with wearing the compression garment it was uncomfortable to sit and get up at times.

I have the same question that many of you have asked...are the results ever noticable? I had the procedure done on my inner thighs, stomach, lovehandles and around to a bit of my back (flanks). It has been 2 weeks. My bruises are healing but I have hematomas (lumps)-noticable on the outside under the skin now in many areas. I am not too worried about that as I see it as a key part of the healing process. However, I do not notice a difference in my size AT ALL. I am confused how so much "gunk" was removed from my body yet I remain the same. The swelling feels like it is mostly gone but I am not sure...there is slight numbneess in areas. My clothes are all fitting the same as they did before. I was told that my inner thighs would be the last to show results because they are lowest of the areas done. My waist appears slimmer but I have to wonder how much of that is due to the compression garment. I have been wearing my garment all the time...I even slept in it a few nights because I found it comforting to be held in by it. I was told it takes about 2 months to really see results, up to 4-6 months for the final results yet I must admit to being sceptical at this point of it. Can anybody lend some info that could make me more optimistic about the $3500 I just dropped for this? I know that price seems pretty fair but nothing is a deal if it doesnt work.

mic, who did you use?
Fnelly (3 posts) 17 Jun 2009
Hi. I had mine initially 7 months ago and the difference was noticable immediately. I had a little more done on the same area and that you could notice straight away 8 weeks ago. I had my tummy/abs done. I have had Velashape 2x week since week 3 to ensure there are no lumps and it is as flat as a pancake now. I am hoping there will be a little more shrinkage in the skin which is a little loose in areas. I spent in total £6,000 and wish I hadn't. But, everyone says how fantastically slim I am and my husband keeps marvelling at my flat stomach and he hasn't noticed the loose skin because I make sure I sit up straight all the time and don't lean forward in my bikini!!!! As long as you don't have loose skin, you should notice a positive difference in time. If you don't, I would get 1 or 2 opinions from other surgeons before I discussed it with the one who did it. He will only say it must be you, I am sure. I wouldn't let him do anything more though. If it came to it I would ask him to cover the cost of going to another surgeon of my choice. Be patient. See how it is at the 5 month juncture as from experience there was no visible change after month 4.

Hi, Its been two weeks since my smart lipo procedure. I had my lower abs, love handles and inner thighs done and I see no results. I know its pretty early but from reading your blog its clear that you were once in my shoes. So did you ever see results and if so how long did it take? Were you at all satisfied? I am just worried I threw away $6,000.00 of my hard earned money on a procedure that may have no results.

Mic, did you ever get results?
Tapdns (18 posts) 6 May 2008
Mic- My results were only noticeable to me. I had the procedure done to sculpt my problem areas. I didn’t lose any weight. I can tell that I had the procedure done and people who know me notice when I have showed them. The sculpting of my love handles/lower abs did help me to go down in pant sizes. It may take your body a little longer to heal from the procedure. How much fat did they removed from your body? It takes many cc’s of fat to equal one pound (I am not sure what the exact # is)- I think I had a little less than a pound removed from all my areas. Ask your MD how much was removed. I hope this helps!!!! Annie

I had smart lipo done April 4th..done on my abs and lovehandles. Aferwards I had pockets of fluid which had build up. That did go away eventually... It has been 2 months and I dont see that much of an improvement.. My husband thinks I looked better before..I don't know whether I have scar tissue built up or what. My love handles look the same or worse... I am really upset with the way they look and that I still haven't been able to fully exercise(except swim) because of discomfort. I am going to see if I can get an answer at the Dr's tomorrow. Hopefully, I am still swollen..
Tapdns (18 posts) 4 Jun 2008
Sorry to hear about that!!! How big were the pockets of fluid? What did the MD say when you went back today? IT sounds like you may still be swollen and it does take some time to see the full results. Do you know how many CC's were taken out? Good luck!
