Ready for Work at 3 weeks Post Op??

By newmeat30 on 22 Jul 2011

Hi everyone!  I have my tummy tuck scheduled for December (during my winter break from school....I'm 2nd grade teacher).  I am wondering if I will be "ready " to go back to work at 3 weeks post op or if I should go back to work at 4 weeks post op.   I'm in good health, I am very physically active (work out at least 60 minutes 6-7 days a week), and I've had 2 previous c-sections and recovered quickly from them.  Will I be feeling ok enough for work at 3 wks post op?  (I will be able to sit often if needed, but will have to walk back and forth around the school, and I'll have help kids into their cars in the afternoon.)

That sounds reasonable to me! Of course, four weeks is better than three, but I think three weeks off work is a good rule of thumb for a tummy tuck.

I'll be curious to see what others say...

I went back to work at two weeks post-op, I work in a financial institution...working 33 hours per week. I went in an hour early and took my lunch early, leaving at 1:30. Ideally I should have taken three weeks off. I too am physically fit and not exercising has been very difficult for me. I wasn't prepared for the swelling that I've had, hence the earlier days. Swelling in the afternoon is worse. I think you will be fine for taking three weeks off.

I think 3 weeks is fine. I went back to work on my day 12; drove myself on day 14.

I always recommend 3-4 weeks off work so you should be fine.  You will be sore but since you are in good physical condition that is a big plus.

Just make sure the little darlings go easy on you:)  No lifting or doing anything crazy.
