You'd think that we'd be covered under medicare but as is typical of most of society, they think being overweight is as simple as "you eat too much therefore you are fat, its your own fault". While the food intake amount is true to an extent it is not always controllable as for many of us, our brains are telling us that were hungry, or they're not telling us when were full, so it is a medical issue more than it is a "mental will power" thing. Because our government (like many) fail to realize this, surgery relating to obesity is not covered under medicare and we are forced to pay something like 15k and more for what is life saving surgery to many. I see many success stories coming out of Mexico and wonder if there are any Aussies who have gone to Mexico or even anywhere else outside of Australia to have their surgery and if you could share your experiences with me/us? I have been contemplating getting sleeved but removing part of a vital organ is terrifying, particularly because it can never be reversed. Though I also have diabetes so that is another reason why I want to get the sleeve. I know its not guaranteed that I will be cured of my T2D but I think its definitely worth trying. Sweets are my weakness and although I am doing well staying away from sugar, it would be nice not to worry about having a piece of chocolate every once in a while.
