Pulled out a stitch after rhinoplasty

By Jennace on 23 Feb 2010

I had rhinoplasty approx. 12 days ago. I was cleaning in my nose when I saw a large piece of mucous. I decided to use my tweezers to just grasp and pull it out. Unknowingly I pulled out a stitch, it had a knot at the end and two strings stemming from the knot.

It was not near the columella but higher on the outer right side. I'm very scared I may have adversely affected my new nose and to make matters worse my nose was already asymmetrical from swelling (or so I hope). Please help!

Hi Jennace, It sounds as if you have pulled out an absorbable stitch from the inside of your nose, which after 12 days should not affect your rhinoplasty. Call your surgeon to let them know what happened. So much for your rhinoplasty having "no strings attached". I hope that your nose is symmetric once your swelling resolves. Good luck and be well.
