How Many Post Op appointments?

By GW8772 on 27 Jan 2013

I was wondering how many post op appointments I can expect to have in the three weeks after my surgery? I ask because I originally arranged my surgery to happen at the end of January since the family member that was caring for me would be on vacation most of February.  My surgery got postponed to February 5th and now I don't have that reliable transportation and need to figure out a new plan.   Thanks!

My dr. does a 1 week, 3 week, 6 week, 3 month and 6 month I believe. As long as everything is ok, of coarse.

I really think it depends on the doctor. My PS has incredibly close follow up. I stayed overnight the first night, so obviously saw him the morning after surgery. Then he had me come back the next day (two days post op). Then I went back at 1 week post op, and then at 2 weeks post op. At the 2 week post op appt, I was diagnosed with a seroma and had to go in a total of 4 times that week to be drained. Then I had my 3 week appt. After that I had 3 weekly endermology sessions, then a 6 week check up, then an 8 wk checkup, and now I don't go back till 3 months. It is worth noting that I drove myself to all appts after 1 wk post op, though. So I only needed my husband to drive me to surgery, home from surgery, and to two follow up appts.
