I hope this post will give some hope, patience, and encouragement to women who are still in the healing stages from breast reduction. I am two and a half weeks post-op from breast reduction. I have found the more active, the more you may feel some pain. I was a DDD, and spilled out of that. I think I will end up being a B after I heal...which was what my wishes were going on. My breasts hung down to just a few inches above my belly button. I have a physical job, with lifting around 20 lbs. give or take about every other day. I had no drains, and no sutures to remove. The surgeon uses a surgical glue, which will come off or wear off on it's own, when it is supposed to. I had a compression breast binder on when I woke up from surgery. These are sold through EAbmedical online. I wear the binders when I work, it truly helps to hold everything still so I can do my job, and make a living. I was told to not use ice as this stops the flow of blood, which makes sense. The rest of the time I wear a post-op bra...I have bought these through makemeheal. Both of these companies are great, and carry a wonderful product line. I tried a sport bra for a couple days, and it was just too heavy on my chest, at this point in time. I went back to work on day 9 after surgery....slow but sure. I had a light week that first week after surgery, just a bit of lifting. I made sure I didn't over do lifting, and again I paid attention to my body. I have a busy household, and not much help. I try to nap when I can, and take plenty of supplements to build my system back up. Yes, I am sore, but, I have found I had so much back and leg pain before...that this is different. There is a lot of nipple sensitivity, but I know you have to give some things time. I did take a warm bath using epsom salts on wash clothes as compresses. This really did seem take some of the soreness away. I know that when I am completely recuperated, it will be a new and exciting thing to not have heavy breasts hanging off me. I didn't realize how much they consumed so much of my life, with dressing, with work, with how I looked in the mirror, and of course with the pain from them. God be with you all as we heal through this. Give it some time. The post op bras are wonderful so that you don't have the nipple sensitivity. They are very thin and comfortable. I had to order two sizes larger so that nothing would rub on the incision. I have had several clients that have had reductions done, and I was told it takes about 2-6 months. It makes me feel better to stay busy, and to try to get back to my normal routine, even if I am slower at it. I had a friend that had the surgery done, and she is in her 60s. She told me she wished she would of had it done 40 years ago. So I have faith, that once, the initial trauma to the nerves has healed and settled down, a better life awaits for you. Don't be sad and depressed....it was depressing before, at least it was for me. Take one day at a time, and slow down a bit so you don't over do it, but don't just sit and be sad cause you are sore. It will be sore for a while. If you are a mother...remember....you were sore after giving birth. Time heals. God Bless!
