How planned are you?

I am having surgery on Saturday 21st.  I currently am a 10F and wanting to be a 10C.  As I'm having surgery overseas photos were sent and the surgeon has made a recommendation as to placement and size etc.  Has anyone else just gone along with this or were you sure you wanted a certain sort of placement, shape or size etc.    I do know I don't want teardrop but working out all the other stuff seems to complicated.  I felt going in with a size, a few pics and a shape that I wanted would be enough....is it?
