Based on the responses by plastic surgeons:

  • Breast implants cost on average $5000-$8000, but can exceed $15,000 depending on surgeon
  • Breast augmentation prices vary significantly based on implant type and your location
  • Here are breast augmentation prices paid by patients

Good luck! --Sharon

The price of the surgery depends on the state you live in! I live in Kentucky and the price range for breast implants are 4000 to 5000 saline and 6000 to 7000 silicone

The more important question is "How much to get them removed?" When my collapsed silicone implants/capsules were removed 9 years ago, it was about $8,000; today, the price is from $12,000 up. My advice to you is to have that money in the bank, before you ever get implanted;you might need it much sooner than you've been told to expect. FDA book tells you to expect 8-10 years; with MRI's every couple of years for the silicone gummy bears; MRI's are at least $800.00 I've been told.

The original surgery to get implants can cost from around 4500 up to 10,000 depending on the circumstances. For most though, the cost doesnt stop there..... Most people I know with implants have had at the very least 3 re-operations due to going larger, rupture, capsular contracture, or because they became violently ill from the implants. Explants can cost 6500 up to 20 grand depending on the circumstances, and if you get a lift. Just be sure you have a nice savings going, because there are alot of people that are unable to have theirs removed, and are very ill, either from one of the side effects that can happen,or from ruptures, and they have no money set aside to have the surgery. Since it is a cosmetic proceedure, and are deemed safe by the manufactures, doctors and the FDA, insurance usually doesnt cover this, so you will need to have the cash on hand. Best wishes for a happy and healthy choice !

I don't think your comments reflect the average patient's experience with breast augmentation surgery. Patient satisfaction survey data from the ASPS year after year demonstrate an extremely high rate of patient satisfaction - well over 90%. Reoperation after augmentation surgery is rare. Probably about 5% of patients at post-op year 10 will have a revisional surgery of some sort. 'Violently Ill'- from an implant? Beyond an implant infection, I cannot imagine how a silicone (or saline) implant could make a person 'ill'. We implant prosthetic devices in hundreds of thousands of patients each year- artifical hips, heart valves etc- all of these devices contain silicone. Are these devices also making patients 'violently ill'. I think the misinformation that you are spreading on this forum is a diservice to women that are seeking accurate medical information for their own decision making process.

Breast implants can cost you your health, your career, your job, your home, your financial security, your future, your children, your husband, your safety, your life savings, and your life. (I know women who have suffered in every one of these ways). Other than that, they cost several thousand dollars now, and many thousands in future operations.

I paid total of $6500 in OC. That was for all fees. I don't think the comments by the fear mongers (above) are fair. Everyone has different experiences with breast implants. Mine have changed my life in a real positive way. Worth paying 10X for the results

I paid just under $8000 Canadian (US dollar pretty much the same right now.) He was the most expensive one I saw though. My other consults varied between $6500 and 7500.... These prices were with all taxes, anesthesiologist, hospital fees, ect.

6k for silicone in Newport Beach, California.
Still pricey but I rather get them expensive then cheap and not be happy with them. "You get what you pay for."
kursk90 (16 posts) 9 Aug 2011
I disagree with King2 Africa. I paid $4000 and I'm happy with result.Cheap is doesn't mean bad.
hev (1 post) 10 Aug 2011
I am paying £3500, good reputation and not a 'cheap' surgeon or surgery.Got money knocked off as i was cheeky enough to ask and could pay in cash.
Very_Nice (8 posts) 14 Aug 2011
I agree!! There are a lot of things that go into the cost. I have to explain also for ladies going abroad that sometimes the exchange rate is more favorable than others, that's why prices can fluctuate.
