Has anyone that has had a panniculectomy been unhappy with "muffin top"/roundness?

I had a modified tummy tuck which is what my ps called it, they removed the bottom apron (panniculectomy) but redid my belly button. The top part of my belly is still flabby and I am very round just above where my stitches are. I am 14 days post-op today. I was never round in the belly before (if you look at my before pics) and now it looks like a ball or early pregnancy belly. Could it just be swelling still? I don't know where to have my pants come up to because it makes the roundness more noticeable!!

I wish I could post a pic on here that's recent. I will post a couple on my profile from a day I was feeling quite flat. This varies depending on how I have eaten

Thanks so much for the update. When did your doctor say it was okay to start working out?

I believe I had to wait 8 weeks for intensive exercise I can't quite remember. Maybe 10. I started walking a lot earlier than that and light running. Began teaching Zumba as soon as my wait was done. And had no problems. As for the swelling no it did not take that long. I would say a couple months or so. Check my profile I believe my posts will kind of give you a timeline

Okay so I am almost 10 months after my surgery. Yes the swelling went down and if I have not eaten anything that causes a lot of bloat it is fairly flat. The thing is I am still 200 lbs and I guess that is why the top is still flabby in my opinion. I did think it would be tighter and flatter above the incision line but of course it's way better than it used to be. I did however like lots of you think it would be tighter. On the side I do still have muffin top if my pants are quite fitted which is disappointing.

So how long did it take for the swelling to go down? Did it take 6 months?

I had my pannus removed July 11 2014 and I am huge in the upper part of my stomach. I can only pray that this swelling will pass. I did not have this fullness and roundness before the surgery. I am scared as well.

I had my panni July 17 2014 and I look pregnant. I still have a bunch of swelling but this looks like my ps stuffed fat inside and sutured me up. I wasn't rounded before surgery either...I am pretty pissed!

I'm pissed as well. My PS said the reason why I swelled up is because I was moving around too much after my surgery. I did have an ultrasound done last week and it showed that my tissue is just swollen. I really pissed as well. I can say mine has went down some, so I have Faith that the swelling will go down within a few months. I see where a lot people say, it can take up to 6 months to a year. Just remember to always keep your garment on, take it off only shower. I'm really pissed as well!

My plastic surgeon didn't even give me a garment to wear....not a single thing...I am trying to find a new plastic surgeon...I hate mine. I am sorry youre experiencing this as well. it really sucks. You spend your time trying to improve your life...losing a massive amount of weight and you have surgery to reward yourself and look better...and then get the freakin shaft and end up looking worse off because of plastic surgeons doing half ass jobs!

My PS didn't give me a garment either, the hospital gave me 1. I had to buy spanxs and girdles myself. I just ordered a waist trainer off of 1800cinchers.com, to hold my stomach in really tight. I'm pissed as well, I got the lap-band surgery in 6/2006 and I lost 100 pounds. I got my panni done and now my stomach looks right dumb now. I'm praying that my stomach goes down, but this surgery requires a lot of patience. If my stomach does look right in 6 months, I will be getting a revision myself.

I had a panni on 5/20/2014 and I have a muffin top. Will the ever go away?

Not sure if it'll go away yet since I had my surgery only a week after you. I'm heavier above the belly button. It's weird. I look as if I'm pregnant with how my belly looks. Also my love handles look big.

My surgeon keeps telling me it will go away, it can take 6 months to a year. I think something is wrong, I have been like this since 6/3/2014 and the swelling hasn't went down at all. I'm going my surgeon this morning when his office opens. I just want to know if anyone else has experience what we're going through and will the swelling ever go away?

Have you seen any improvement with your stomach area going down with swelling?

I had an ultrasound done this week to make sure I didn't have seroma. The results showed that nothing was wrong and that my tissue is just swollen. My stomach has went down some. I just have to keep my garments tight around my stomach. Has your stomach went down?

I'm still heavier above the belly button and have a little muffin top. It's gone down a bit though my sides haven't. I swell a lot to where I fell like my belly button is ripping open. I had to have an anchor incision with my belly button redone so that area is pretty tight.

What caused your stomach to become lopsided? Did your PS advice you to wear a compression garment.

I had worn my garment but due to the fact he didn't do it right it's now uneven

I wish you the best and remember to say the surgical prayer before your revision.
