I'm having a hard time healing this open wound I have under my right breast. My lift was done May 17th and it has been about 2 1/2 weeks since the area opened after the scab feel off early. My doctor told me to cover it with triple antibiotic ointment and don't wear a bra at night, but not much has changed. I go back tomorrow for a checkup. Anyone have other ideas? Thanks,Becky

Hi everybody I had a breast lift and lipo 4 weeks ago. I had open wound 3 weeks after my surgery underneath both of my breasts so my doctor put new sutures. I had to go to post op therapy for the lipo and the lady who did the massages explained to me why we get open wounds. Every time you try to get up from your bed, try to get somebody to lift you up. They can put their arms around your neck and lift you up so you don't effort yourself by putting all your support on your arms, which will affect your suture. Since then my husband is the one that helps me out to get up. She also recommended not to wash your breasts while you shower. Try to cover your breasts with something so the suture doesn't get wet. After you shower clean the suture with alcohol only. Also she said to not lift your arms up for 2 months after de surgery. Doctors say 2 weeks but is better to be safe than sorry. I haven't had any complications since then and I will have my stitches removed by next Monday. Good luck

That is wonderful news joyijo! I am still battling this issue, with my wounds (under the breasts) still open since June 24 2014 and my skin is still draining/weeping...I am so very frustrated and sad, depressed etc..I now have an appointment after seeing my primary care physician with a Wound Clinic at our local hospital 15 September. I had no idea this option even existed and I am very disappointed my plastic surgeon who is affiliated with hospital NEVER thought to suggest I go there. I have been through pure hell everyday with this disfigurement of my breast as they definitely do NOT resemble my god given breasts and the constant leaking/weeping is just horrible (like a bad dream). I faithfully see my surgeon every couple of weeks and each time he makes me feel like there must be something terribly wrong with me (as he has NEVER seen this before) and suggested genetic testing. I went to my primary and he did a variety of blood tests to include genetic testing and all have come back completely NORMAL....this was great news however; I am trying to get healed so I can do this surgery again and since I don't know what caused it I don't know what I need to correct my problem so it doesn't happen again!! Good luck to you joyijo and continued health! Any advice is most appreciated...

I'm glad to hear that. My sister and I had breast lift around the same time. She also had an open wound under her right breast because she was trying to open a bottle. She knew she wasn't a supposed to do anything that requires strength with her arms, but she was alone and she got frustrated that she couldn't do anything. Thank God the wound was not as big as mine so she didn't need new sutures. She only cleaned it with saline water and now The doctor already removed her stitches yesterday. Remember to not effort yourself by doing something that requires strength. Get somebody else to do it for you. I know it gets frustrating but we need to do it if we want a quick recovery. Good luck and I wish you a speedy recovery

I have this problem also. I waited so long for this augmentation (almost 50 yrs old) and was so excited and happy. Had breast augmentation (Mentor Gel Implants) surgery May 8 2014 within a month they had to be removed due to my wounds (under the breast) weren't healing (small holes appearing) especially the right. They had to be removed June 24, 2014 and drainage tubes were left in as the draining just doesn't stop! I was told that I have to wait 3-6 months to have them re-inserted however; I am so afraid that this may happen again. It is now 20 July 2014 and I am still draining from the incisions mostly clear to yellow (sticky) drainage. This has been a very bad experience to say the least. I can't stop crying and just need some help in stopping this drainage I can't take much more of this.....any suggestions...I am ready to put (butterfly strips) over wounds..

Surgeon stated to me concerning my open holes, that the breast are fatty tissue and the drainage is from the fatty tissue. I did go to my local dr. since I had Mercer Staph years back, and got daily shots for 17 days.

Omg im having the same problem i had my breast lift about a month ago and I ended up getting a open wound just under my left breast. This has me feeling so depressed because I just want it to heal! I've been cleaning it with saline water also been applying Neosporin, Sulfur powder , even the the Silver Sulfate cream that my doctor prescribed me but I just feel like none of it working! Is there anything else I can apply that would show faster results ?

This is what I did to heal and you must be patient. Less is better. I washed the wound by squeezing water and a mild soap like lever or cetaphil then ran water on wound, pat it dry with clean paper towel then apply triple antibiotic ointment not neosporin. Then I applied the nonstick pad over wound. I did this twice a day for a month but you should see a difference in a week. Make sure you wear a loose fitted bra and limit your movement with your arms. Your stitches are still healing in the inside. I hope this helps you and be patient. Get well and time will heal it.

Okay thanks. Yea so I've been reading it's all about being "patient" lol but it's so fustrating to enjoy something I wanted so bad and yet I have this open flesh thing that looks so horrible -.- . What type of triple antibiotic ointment are you talking about ? Because mine still bleeds a little and it looks so gross on the pad. My concern is putting ointments on the wound help it really wouldn't it be best to have something so it can dry out? So it can become a scab? I also have little open wounds around my areola looks like I got all nibbled around. Not cute. I hope it doesn't heal that way . My right breast is completly fine and healed it looks so perfect compared to my left.

I just used the Walgreens brand triple ointment. I went through the same thing. That's why I cleaned the wound with a little soap, pat dry with paper towel and put the ointment on the nonstick pad lightly then cover it. I'm sorry about being frustrated because I was scared too! But less products is better for it. I had the same with slight bleeding on nipple area too. I just did the same process. I had two nonstick on one breast- one on the nipple and one under my breast. Then on the breast I had one underneath. I did find that using too many products made the wound leaky. Try the simple routine and within a week it should start to close up some. I understand because you are on a roller coaster of mixed emotions. I had a total of three wounds. Believe me things will get better. My PS told me not to use the neosporin just the triple ointment. My pad looked gross too but after a week or two it was hardly nothing on the pad.

I am totally going to take your advice MissLen. I had a breast reduction 5 weeks ago. I developed a hematoma and 2 weeks post surgery had to have my left breast reopened and drained. Ugg. So now I am developing open spots. The one on the right breast is small and the left one is much larger. Started out the size of a pea but now it's almost the size of a nickel. My doctor advised treating it with a peroxide/ water mixture followed by bacitracin ointment. I've read not so good thing s about the peroxide so today I stopped using it. After reading your post I'm going to take your advice and see what happens. I see my doctor tomorrow for my 5 week appointment but I am so scared because of another complication. Ugggg...thanks for your advice. I'm glad yours cleared up quickly. I'm so discouraged. Emag94

At 2 weeks I developed a hematoma on the left side and had to have it reopened and drained. So You can just imagine my frustration! Hopefully it'll heal as quickly as your did!

I had a Brest lift almost 5 weeks ago, about 21/2 weeks after surgery I developed a sore under my left breast, now at 4 weeks I have a small sore under my right breast. They are currently treating it by using triple anti bacterial ointments, and covering it with non stick gauze pads. I am not seeing an improvement. I am going to call my Dr. Tomorrow for a mor aggressive approach, as it seems that it's is not uncommon, but many here have used saline and sulfur based topical creams. Tonight I am not using a bra or gause. I have neosporin on them, but that all. I hope this gets under control soon! Tummy tuck (although very painful) healed great!

I had a breast lift with augmentation on July 12, 13 along with a tummy tuck. Prepared my body by eating healthy and following the drs orders. 3 weeks after surgery I got an infected suture under my right breast. Dr removed suture packed with antibiotic gauze several times over a week! Now I apply silver sulfate ointment and clean with saline solution twice a day. The area is about a dime size and appears to have any improvements. This has been going on for 6 weeks. Has anyone had this same situation? I'm beyond discouraged :(...

How are you doing now? I had a lift on dec 4 and a dime sized hole on my vertical anchor scar from 2 spitting sutures and feel like it's never going to heal. Did yours get better, if so what did you do for it to heal?

I'm much better now. It took about two months to completely heal because both breast open up. I got in the shower, ran water over breasts, squeeze soapy water with lever 2000 soap. Sometimes I spray Saline Wound Spray.Rinse and pat dry. Then I used triple antibiotic ointment then apply the nonstick gauze everyday twice a day until they healed. It takes patience but you will be ok. Now I'm just trying to lightening my scars. Give it some time and I know that's hard to do when you are looking at yourself. I hope this helps!

Hi Hollywood33, i have the same problem 2 weeks post op i noticed some holes under my breasts. The big one was on my left one and got 2 on my right one. I was so worried And depressed cause wanted to heal but somehow couldn't :( my ps told me to wash it with sope and put some ointment on it but still the holes start getting bigger and bigger . One day he did little procedure , cut the skin and put new sutures..he said to wash it and put betadine on it , but somehow I got redness and burned the skin so he told me to stop using anything besides to wash it with sope . A couple days later I start noticing holes again , this pain and itching .. I don't know what to do anymore I'm thinking to remove the implants can't take this any more , I don't feel comfortable with it .. I just think no matter what he does I'll never heal and get worse and worse. I have no idea what should i try cause im afraid ill make it worse. On monday im going to c him And need to talk to him seriously what we should do . So sweetie i wish u good healing and trust me I'm so scared too. I wish I never done ba , cause I got beautiful breast just not comfortable with the size :( now I have to pay for my mistake and the worst part is that can't turn back time:(.

Just had reduction surgery about 2 weeks ago and 9 days after surgery I realized I had 2 inch wide open wound on under right breast. So I called my PS and went in the next day. He removed the tape around my incisions and cleaned up the wound. He told me to use telaform or non stick dressing and clean the wound with mild soap and water. Then put triple antibiotic ointment then nonstick gauze twice a day. So two days has passed and I'm still scared because I took a shower and when I got out the left breast starting dripping blood. I just cried and I hope things close up because I'm scared and feeling regretful.

Thanks for the reassurance but because I'm having some nerve sensation in my legs the doctor wants me to go to the ER. For possible DVT. I do have fibromyalgia so could it possible from not being on my meds for about 2 weeks. I just took it now because I scared to be patient in the hospital. I hate going through this but maybe next month I will be happier.

I had an open wound that looked like Becky's. It would not heal, tried everything over counter. Went to doctor charged $200.00 and ointment prescribed did not work. I had leftover copper sulfate from a mole I had removed and the sore produced a scab and healed. I was putting the copper sulfate on other smaller sores trying to develop and it healed them. Then another open sore developed, this one started to develop round but it was not a ring worm cause it was open raw in the center, the copper sulfate did not work on this one, I noticed new ones wanting to come out as small clusters of tiny bumps, it didn't hurt, it didn't itched, only when washing with warm watter I felt some itching. I thought it had to be some type of fungus. Desperate I went to a health food store, asked for something to get rid of fungus infection. Lady suggested "Safe care RX Athlete,s Foot Fighter". Is a homeopathic all natural product. I purchased it on a Friday, applied it on wound and spayed it inside mouth as well, several times a day. I was amazed to see the daily healing! By Thursday the next week, scab had fallen off and open sore was gone!!! My doctor had scared me saying I could develope sores in my organs! And his next step was oxygen therapy!!
