Hi everyone, I need your help and opinions concerning these two products. Has anyone used them before? Which one do you think is more effective at teeth whitening?
According to a website I read, hydrogen peroxide is more effective because it's stronger and whitens teeth at a faster rate.
Carbamide is weaker and takes longer to whiten teeth. You need a higher strength carbamide gel to achieve the same results as a hydrogen peroxide gel. Is this true?
To convert 35% carbamide peroxide to hydrogen peroxide, you divide it by 2.76. 35/2.76 = 12.68%. A 35% Cp gel is equivalent to a 12.68% Hp gel.
I purchased the Zoom day white 14% earlier this year and it has three 2.4 ml syringes My teeth were slightly yellow and it whitened my teeth several shades after using only 2 of the syringes. I noticed my teeth didn't whiten anymore after I finished with the 3rd syringe. It's white but not completely white, like the whiteness of toothpaste. That's the type of whiteness I was hoping my teeth would be after using the 14% hydrogen peroxide.
I recently purchased the opalescence 35% carbamide peroxide because I wanted to see if it would whiten my teeth a few shades more. After using 2 of the syringes, I haven't noticed any difference and the colour of my teeth are still the same. There are 2 syringes remaining.
I noticed the opalescence doesn't have the burning sensation/feeling on my teeth like the Zoom 14% hydrogen peroxide has. It also doesn't make my teeth sensitive like the Zoom does but I'm not seeing any results.
Should I continue with the Opalescence 35%(carbamide) until I use the last 2 syringes? Or should I purchase another Zoom 14% (hydrogen peroxide) to see if my teeth whiten further after I use 3 more syringes?
Keep in mind that I've done the Zoom 4 in-office teeth whitening in December last year and don't want to do it again.
