Hello everyone! New to the forum here. I am 3 weeks post op. Doing good aside from swelling. I purchased a gel strip for my scar but the directions say to use after healing. I'm afraid to use it too soon. Any suggestions?

Hi, I had a breast augmentation 7 months ago. I hurt my incisions a couple of times after surgery and now they look dark and uneven. I tried kitoscell and they became thinner than they were but the scar is pretty thick and dark still. I was wondering if Oleeva would work after 7 months of surgery?

Dear Lisa; Of course you can use Oleeva Scar Shapes after 7 months surgery. If your scar is completely healed, you can use it. About the scar darkness, the fabric will softening and color will gradually decrease in a month. The maximum effect is obtained in three months. The longer you use it, the better results will. If you don't see any result or and you don't smoke (another reason that darkens a scar) it could be probably the type of skin. This is the type of shapes you'll need to heal your scar: http://www.obgynsolution.com/servlet/the-985/oleeva%2C-scar-management%2C-shape/Detail http://www.obgynsolution.com/servlet/the-991/oleeva%2C-oleeva-37bf%2C-aerola/Detail http://www.obgynsolution.com/servlet/the-992/oleeva%2C-oleeva-37bk%2C-aerola/Detail http://www.obgynsolution.com/servlet/the-993/oleeva%2C-oleeva-37vm%2C-mastopecy/Detail Follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/obgynsolution Hope you can heal your scars very soon!

Hi Lisa! Silicone gel sheets/shapes will soften and flatten out your scars, even after 7 months. The hyperpigmentation may take a little more time, but the silicone will soothe the area and hasten the process. If you had an augmentation, and you just have a small scar underneath your breasts, measure the scar. Usually an aug scar is about 2 inches long. In that case you can order the 3708 strip, which is 1.5 x 5 inches long, and cut in half using half on each side. If it is longer, there is a shape, 37BP, which is 2 x 8 inches, cut in half, giving you two 4 inch pieces. If your scars do not look like any of the specific shapes available, please measure to determine the correct sheet or strip or shape. Margie

Try "Scar Esthetique Scar Cream" it is one of the popular scar treatment topicals. I remember having a mole removed on my chin and I used Mederma scar cream. I do not believe Mederma did anything to treat my scar. ContourMD carries scar creams. Also Amazon has the lowest prices.

Hello Ladies! I happened along this forum and thought I would offer any assistance you may need regarding the Oleeva Scar Management products. I have worked in customer service for the manufacturer, Bio Med Sciences, Inc. for 17 years and have fielded just about all considerations regarding our product. Please feel free to email or call me Monday through Friday, 8:30AM to 5:00PM Eastern Standard Time - we are in Pennsylvania. (800) 257-4566 To answer a very important question that caught my eye - be very sure the area is completely healed before using. No scabbing or open areas. The product will not allow it to heal (close up) if you put on prior - and you risk infection. Washing daily is also very important with a plain soap (no lotions or moisturizers as they will coat the product and it will not stick very well) and rinse with warm enough water to remove body oils. Thank you for using our product! I hope I can be of further assistance if needed! Margie Burns, Customer Service Representative for Bio Med Sciences, Inc. - Manufacturer of Oleeva Scar Management products.

My ps recommended the Oleeva fabric shapes. I have some thickening and alot of itching in my scars from my breast reduction,I'm 11wks post op. I would like more information on them like how often do you have to repurchase them,I heard you have to use special formula to clean them. I'm not sure I want to be out so much money on them to have to replace them often and buy special formula to clean them also. could you please give me more information.

Dear 'Nannie 04', I am so sorry for the delay in response! Yours is the first response since I offered my help and the way it showed up in my email was unfamiliar - so I overlooked! Very sorry! Each Oleeva Scar Shape or silicone sheet lasts 6 weeks - you wash and reuse daily. We do offer a special cleanser because of requests from customers, but prior to the cleanser we have, I always advised using something plain and basic like Ivory Soap - or even Dawn Dish Detergent! Just make sure your soap of choice does not have any moisturizer or lotion or glycerin in it - these things leave a residue and coat the sticky silicone and then it won't stay in place very well.

Typically, it is recommended you wear the Shapes for 3 months for maximum benefit. So that would mean purchasing two sets total. It is nice if you can purchase both pair at one because then you can alternate for 3 months. Wash one and wear the dry one then switch the next day. However you can make do with one pair. I recommend washing them first thing before showering and putting aside till you are ready to dress. They do dry rather fast, being very thin fabric on the outer side. But if you are in a hurry, you can even put on wet and once in place you can take a blow dryer to the outside and dry in seconds. It is all up to what you want to spend at the moment - but having two pair is more convenient.

An added benefit to the softening and flattening out or prevention of hypertrophic/keloid scars is the soothing of any hyper sensitivity or itching because the silicone works by process of moisturizing the area. It is like an artificial skin barrier providing the perfect amount of moisture to soothe the skin and make it stop rushing collagen to the area and building up the scar tissue.

I hope you find this helpful! Don't hesitate to keep in touch! I will be much more vigilant from now on! Have a great week!

Hi Margie, I am looking to have a breast lift/augmentation and skin only tummy tuck in May and I was wondering how soon after the surgery can you start applying the sleeves? Thanks Amanda

Even though l know PS is totally against it l want to tan in my tanning bed May-Sept should l remove the strips during tanning and cover my scar with a towel as l plan to do either way?

You should not rely on a towel to keep you protected in the tanning bed. It will only offer an spf of 20 or less. If you are going to do that, apply an spf to your scar and then put the towel on top.

Hi Amanda! We hope you had a good recovery! You can start using the Oleeva Scar Shapes as soon as the wound is healed. We recommended starting therapy when incision healed. For Tummy Tuck scar you can order the shapes here: Obgynsolution.com Good Luck!

Hi Tina! From what I've read, you should wait at least 6 months post op before exposing your site to the sun. The melanocytes beneath the epidermis are what control your skin pigmentation and take a lot longer to heal and rebuild after surgery. That is why a new scar turns dark brown when exposed to the sun and takes a whole lot longer than 6 months to lighten - if ever. Perhaps using zinc oxide or a very high SPF would be helpful if you must tan, and covering with a towel. Don't use the Oleeva silicone shapes over the lotion you choose because it will coat the silicone. After you shower, reapply. Be very careful with sun and UV rays the first year after surgery. Have a great summer! Margie

Sorry for the delay in response Amanda! Just this morning I received a notification of your inquiry - don't know why there was a hold up! But to answer your question: you must wait until the site is completely healed before using silicone sheeting - no scabbing or open areas - needs to be all closed up. This is approximately 4 weeks post op, but everyone heals differently so it could be sooner or later. Use 4 weeks as a guide and observe your site to make sure it is all healed then start using silicone therapy to prevent scarring. Since you are having a "skin only" tummy tuck, measure the incision (when you are able) and then see which of our products would work best. The Oleeva Abdominoplasty shape is 23 inches long. Yours may not be that long and there are alternatives. If you are unsure, please give me a call and I can help you next month! (800) 257-4566 or inquire at our website: www.silon.com. Good luck with your surgery next month Amanda! Heal well! Margie

Hello forum, Oleeva Scar Shapes contain no messy gels or pasted. Oleeva is the ONLY silicon sheeting with Silon technology, made from PTFE and silicone, which allows softer, thinner sheets with enhanced strength and durability. It will prevent and reduce post surgical scars. I have been in Conventions promoting Oleeva and it is a great product.

Good Luck!!

I am interested in Olleva silicone strips anyone have advice on rather I should use the strip, gel or the strip that covers entire scar?

I have been using the oleeva clear sheets for about 10 weeks. I like the versatility of being able to cut it to the size I want, and easily replacing it when it no longer becomes sticky. I just use it on the ends of my scar now, as they are not as perfectly flat as my middle section of scar.

did it minimize the scar. I am using Kelocote as I had an allergic reaction to the silicone belt

I've used it religiously and my scar has healed very nicely. I'm not sure how it would have been without the product.
