Anyone using Oleeva strips for TT scar?

By trishvan99 on 20 Jan 2011

Hello everyone! New to the forum here. I am 3 weeks post op. Doing good aside from swelling. I purchased a gel strip for my scar but the directions say to use after healing. I'm afraid to use it too soon. Any suggestions?

I started using oleeva as soon as my incision was closed and not scabbing. At about one week. My ps uses inside dissolving stitches so the incision line closes pretty quickly. I've had no problems and the incision is softening nicely. If in doubt, ask your ps. Let me know how you like the product. Shriners burn in Boston uses it, so I figured it must be good!

I have been using the oleeva clear sheets for about 10 weeks. I like the versatility of being able to cut it to the size I want, and easily replacing it when it no longer becomes sticky. I just use it on the ends of my scar now, as they are not as perfectly flat as my middle section of scar.

did it minimize the scar. I am using Kelocote as I had an allergic reaction to the silicone belt

I've used it religiously and my scar has healed very nicely. I'm not sure how it would have been without the product.

Hello forum, Oleeva Scar Shapes contain no messy gels or pasted. Oleeva is the ONLY silicon sheeting with Silon technology, made from PTFE and silicone, which allows softer, thinner sheets with enhanced strength and durability. It will prevent and reduce post surgical scars. I have been in Conventions promoting Oleeva and it is a great product.

Good Luck!!

Hello Ladies! I happened along this forum and thought I would offer any assistance you may need regarding the Oleeva Scar Management products. I have worked in customer service for the manufacturer, Bio Med Sciences, Inc. for 17 years and have fielded just about all considerations regarding our product. Please feel free to email or call me Monday through Friday, 8:30AM to 5:00PM Eastern Standard Time - we are in Pennsylvania. (800) 257-4566 To answer a very important question that caught my eye - be very sure the area is completely healed before using. No scabbing or open areas. The product will not allow it to heal (close up) if you put on prior - and you risk infection. Washing daily is also very important with a plain soap (no lotions or moisturizers as they will coat the product and it will not stick very well) and rinse with warm enough water to remove body oils. Thank you for using our product! I hope I can be of further assistance if needed! Margie Burns, Customer Service Representative for Bio Med Sciences, Inc. - Manufacturer of Oleeva Scar Management products.

My ps recommended the Oleeva fabric shapes. I have some thickening and alot of itching in my scars from my breast reduction,I'm 11wks post op. I would like more information on them like how often do you have to repurchase them,I heard you have to use special formula to clean them. I'm not sure I want to be out so much money on them to have to replace them often and buy special formula to clean them also. could you please give me more information.

Dear 'Nannie 04', I am so sorry for the delay in response! Yours is the first response since I offered my help and the way it showed up in my email was unfamiliar - so I overlooked! Very sorry! Each Oleeva Scar Shape or silicone sheet lasts 6 weeks - you wash and reuse daily. We do offer a special cleanser because of requests from customers, but prior to the cleanser we have, I always advised using something plain and basic like Ivory Soap - or even Dawn Dish Detergent! Just make sure your soap of choice does not have any moisturizer or lotion or glycerin in it - these things leave a residue and coat the sticky silicone and then it won't stay in place very well.

Typically, it is recommended you wear the Shapes for 3 months for maximum benefit. So that would mean purchasing two sets total. It is nice if you can purchase both pair at one because then you can alternate for 3 months. Wash one and wear the dry one then switch the next day. However you can make do with one pair. I recommend washing them first thing before showering and putting aside till you are ready to dress. They do dry rather fast, being very thin fabric on the outer side. But if you are in a hurry, you can even put on wet and once in place you can take a blow dryer to the outside and dry in seconds. It is all up to what you want to spend at the moment - but having two pair is more convenient.

An added benefit to the softening and flattening out or prevention of hypertrophic/keloid scars is the soothing of any hyper sensitivity or itching because the silicone works by process of moisturizing the area. It is like an artificial skin barrier providing the perfect amount of moisture to soothe the skin and make it stop rushing collagen to the area and building up the scar tissue.

I hope you find this helpful! Don't hesitate to keep in touch! I will be much more vigilant from now on! Have a great week!
Margie
