how obvious will it be post surgery?
By sarja on 29 Jan 2011
I am scheduled for smart lipo in about a week and one question I have but cant see asked is: will people be able to tell when i am wearing compression garments? I'm prepared to take a few days off and I thankfully have an office job, but will the swelling be obvious?

I still have a fair amount of drainage, and have to remind myself to watch and not bleed on the carpet or something when I go to the bathroom or bend down. Its easier to remain upright and straight, so I dont disrupt the incision sites.
I've been taking Arnica and Bromelain and have some Arnica cream I put on too---not sure if that is working but so far I'm not very bruised. But its early...
Okay, I am late forties (very late) and 5'2 and about 125. Im not overweight but since menopause I have gained about 2 inches on my waist with precious little change in diet and exercise. Flabby, moveable, jelly belly stuff. It was just driving me crazy. SO one way or another, this will cure my curiosities....
I dont mind at all---keep questions coming. :)
But I'm an open book!
I was in at 8ish and out by 11:30 after about an hour and a half of recovery. Came home and was lucid but sleepy and went to bed and have napped on and off. I'm making my kids dinner now (mac and cheese--so its hardly taxing) then I will probably watch a chick flik :)
I am draining a lot from on incision site---but then I'm not sure because its the only one I can see. The wrap is blooy. Hope I can get that out!
Ooh, so soon! Good luck!
You'll be glad you have those pics later. :) My biggest regret before I started losing weight was not taking pics. I would have loved to see the difference. When Smart Lipo time rolls around I won't forget to do it.
Hi Sarja,
It really depends on how your body reacts, i.e. how much you swell. The compression garment will minimize things, and if you're wearing loose clothing then it shouldn't be obvious underneath. Just take it slow and try to rest when you can to minimize swelling.
When are you scheduled for surgery?
