November Tummy Tuckers

By cwgrlup640 on 29 Sep 2011

Hi my name is Jennifer and I am scheduled for the 17th of Nov.  Very glad I found this site, but have to admit I haven't spent much time away from it since finding it.  So much helful info and add's alot of comfort to know there are so many to ask questions to that have actually went through or are about to go through this wonderful procedure.  I have a few family members that would be having a cow if they knew what I was scheduled for.  I have chosen not to tell them anything as far as they will know I am having a hernia repaired or know nothing at all some things are better off left unsaid in my opinion...

Well I made hotel reservations for the night of my surgery. Hubby says we will just drive down in the morning before my surgery I will be nice an tired by the time I get there. Surgery is at 8:30 a.m. and need to check in at 6:30 a.m. We live 1 1/2 hours away so we will have to leave home by 4 a.m. The gal who made the reservation for me was so nice, and gave me heads up that I might need to bring an extra pillow or 2. The room has a king size bed for the hubby and a recliner for me. I will also take a blanket or 2 with us also I am always cold.

I know it is 46 days away but with harvest and work it will be here before I know it I am so pumped.

Can't wait to meet some other November TT

Smiles:)

Congradulations cwgrlup640. I know what you are talking about regarding family knowing. My family doesn't know either they would be the same way. But this is what we want so it really shouldn't matter what they think. But I myself don't want to have to listen to it. My tt is in three days but I will check back to see how things are going for you. Best wishes on your surgery and recovery.

Thank you Georgiamom40 I am very excited for you that you are scheduled in 2 day now. Hope all goes well and wishing for a speedy recovery.

How long did you have to prepare for your surgery from the day you scheduled? The waiting is the hardest thing right now for me.
Georgiamom40 4 Oct 2011
I was orinally scheduled for Sept 8 and two days before got cold feet and cancelled. But it was probably for the best because my niece was getting married the weekend after and I would have been a mess I think. Plus my first PS visit was just a few weeks prior to the original date. So this has given me a month to really do the research I should have done to begin with. Never really thought I would be able to actually do this. I have all of the recoop things except my recliner. It was suppose to have came today but didn't which is a bummer. I have one and can manage, but it just has some problems that could cause problems!! My surgery is scheduled for 9:30 and I should be home around 8 or 9 that night provided there are no problems. I live a couple of hours away from the center so we have a short drive but hopefully I will still be a little loopy and won't really care. It is the drive back down on Monday that worries me. Plus I can't shower for a week because of the compression garments I can't remove. But this time I am really ready I think. Still nervous but definately better than the last time and they called from the center where I am having it done to go over everything today and I didn't panic or anything so that was good.

Congratulations cwgrlup640! Like you, my surgery is also scheduled for Novemeber, on the 28th. I am having a MM. I am so excited too and waiting is torture!! Inactually just reserved my hotel room too, and yet it still feels so surreal. My hubby is taking me and then my mom is gonna help me and the kids while I recover (when my husband is working). I was nervous to tell my family, and luckily they have been supportive, but I can tell they are really nervous at the same time. Sometimes I think they nerves get me a little nervous! Glad that I've someone else having surgery in Nov. as well!!
@Georgiamom40- best of luck to you and your recovery!

Kingston I am so excited for you and yes thw waiting is killing me also. I am sually they type that ifI have to have surgery I schedule for the soonest I can but since $$ is coming out of my own pocket had to wait till our corn harvest is done.
My hubby is taking me and will be off for the weekend but I think he might go back to work that following MondayWhich should be fine.
My parent's are going to be told I am having a hernia repaired and some muscle repair done at the same time.. I am hoping they don't want to go to the surgery site with us 'cuz that might be hard to explain why it's at a PS surgical suite.

Well we will have to keep each other posted from day to day. I love this site...

Hi Ladies!

My Tummy Tuck is scheduled for 11-18-11.
I'm excited, anxious, and nervous, plus a little guilty about spending $7200 dollars. But hey, hubby and I just put a kid through college. So now it's my turn to do something for myself.
Peaches32 14 Nov 2011
Wow JoBibbi-- not much longer. U derseve it!
mzdene 24 Nov 2011
You are so very rite JoBibbi, I spent about the same and felt bad for a hot sec. It's our time!!
mzdene 24 Nov 2011
You will be great!! I was just as nervous and anxious as you are, but now being 4 days post op...I love my new tummy!!! YAY!! HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!
Kingston527 5 Oct 2011
I am really glad I found this site too and we will definitely have to keep each other posted cwgrlup. I actually have a herniated belly button (didn't even know there was such a thing, ha) so I threw that point in with my family, probably for my own justification. @JoBibbi, I have all the same feelings you do!!! And I know all about the guilt... I have three small kids at home and keep telling myself that my husband and I could probably use the money elsewhere, but I never do anything for myself and my hubby is super supportive! I think as women we always put everyone before us
cwgrlup640 6 Oct 2011
I feel guilty for the $$ also we are not well to do by any means actually my hubby works his butt off to provide for us. His family farms and he recieved 31 acres to farm each year and we alternate one year corn one year beans. Usually we are so far in debt that it all goes to pay off past due bills. We have managed to keep up to date on every thing this year still struggling but we are getting by. If everything goes as planned we should still even be able to have a saftey net.
I always put everyone first and just thought it might be time for me to do something for me. Hope I am not making a mistake..
cwgrlup640 8 Oct 2011
Just wondering how everyone is doing?

November is just around the corner and we all will be starting to get our ducks in a row.

I have my list started but will wait till I go in for my pre-op appointment to shop for most of the items.

How about everyone else? Have you started your survival kit yet?
Kingston527 8 Oct 2011
Getting excited!! It feels so far away but I know the time will be here before we know it. I've made a mental list of some things but I need to start writing them down. I also need to figure out everything I need. Any suggestions?
cwgrlup640 8 Oct 2011
Hav you read Kimmers survival guide? It is awsome.
My list so far is as follows

Body pillow and cover
2 Ice packs
themometer
Mobile Cart at walmart for Lap top ($34.??) it rolls around like the hospital tables and I think you can even put the wheels under the bed like the hospital ones. And my son can use it for his lap top when I am done.
Stay free extra long pads for bandageing
Tylenol
Order Hosp. Bed to rent for the month.($175.00 for mo.)
set of flannel twin sheets for bed.
7-up
crackers
jello and pudding packs
some low sodium soup
ice (for ice chips and ice cold water)
I love chocolate Cocoa wheats hot cereal so will have that on hand with some marshmallows
fruit (probably alot of grapes and oranges)
decaf coffee
Ice cream
can of prunes
Milk of Mag
Oatmeal
I am a farm girl so I am going to get and try some vet wrap instead of ace bandage to wrap around pads to keep in place it comes in pretty colors and you don't need metal clips. I will let you know how it works.

I aready picked up some Burts Bee Tummy Butter and had the pharmacy order me some vit E ointment. It works wonders on scars and lasts forever.
Also picked up a zip up lightweight house coat at Walmart thought it looked comfy and convenient with the zip up.
Thats all for now.
cwgrlup640 13 Oct 2011
Thought of a few more items to add to my list..
Clorox toilet disk to keep toilet bowl clean so hubby doesn't have to scrub.
Clorox wipes so hubby and son can wipe toilet seat clean.
Scrubbing bubbles Automatic shower cleaner so shower is clean.

A relaxing wall flower from bath and body I like the lavender vanilla it is very calming.

Dial soap.

One great thing I bought was alcohol swabs like for diabetics to wipe skin before an injection. I would cleanse my fingers with them before I would touch my skin. I used them to clean the drain tubes too where they came out of my skin. You might want to add that purchase to your list also. I bought a travel neck pillow one of those horse shoe shaped things, great for neck support you will get pretty miserable being immobile the first week any comfort you can find take advantage of it. Good luck to you all!
Kingston527 8 Oct 2011
Wow! Great list. I didn't think of some of those things!! If you think of anything else let me know, and I will do the same. I am ready for Novemeber to be here already, but I know when it comes I will be running around trying to get everything in order.
cwgrlup640 9 Oct 2011
Ya we all will be running like chickens with our heads cut off. Then we will watch the world go round while we re-coop from surgery.
Are you getting a H. Bed or gonna crash in a recliner? I was gonna borrow my folks H bed but don't want to haul it all around. Thought renting one sounded good then they haul it in and out less work for my hubby.
It is great to have someone to chat about these things with. Kinda wish there was a live chat on here. I would be happy to share my cell # in a private message if you want to text or chat. My hubby is supportive but feels I am silly. And I haven't told very many people and don't feel comfortable talking to them don't want them to feel like I am bragging that I am having this done. I check this site all the time so this is good to. Just let me know.
Again I am glad you joined this site.

Smiles :)

@cwgrlup640 you sound so prepared compared to me. Had my surgery on Thursday and I had soups, crackers, drinks. I had already ordered new recliners because our old ones had bit the dust but they didn't come til Friday morning which wasn't to bad. But I'm short (5'0") and they were bought more for my husband (6'2") so I have to have a step stool to help me in them but they are comfy and they power recline which is nice. But I have slept in my bed eversince I got home. it's rough but my husband has helped alot with getting me in and out. I haven't saw my tummy yet but can tell is it ALOT slimmer. I get to see it tomorrow and again excited but nervous. Because I have to take off the suit they have me in. Hoping with husbands help I can wash my hair today..we'll see. Hang in there it will be here before you know it.
cwgrlup640 9 Oct 2011
Glad you are doing fine. I to am a shorty 4'11" hubby is 6'4" I use a step stool alot around here.

I am so excited you get to see your new tummy tomorrow. Take some nice deep breaths before and while they take off your compression I have heard you might get dizzy.

Thats great that you have been able to sleep in your own bed. I have the hospital bed on my list but still undecided about it. I hear it is a god send but space for it might be an issue my first thought was to put it up stairs out of every ones way, but the bathroom is on the main floor decissions, decissions. Will decide by the end of next week so I can reserve it or what ever I have to do...

We could use a new recliener our is getting tired hubby wants to get all camo furniture for the living room. Might be kinda cool. There is a deer head already on the wall why not go all out with a hunting lodge look.

Well keep feeling better. Let me know how the Dr. goes tomorrow..
Georgiamom40 10 Oct 2011
Hey thought I would let you know that doctors appt was great. They briefly took of the garments so didn't get to see alot. Did notice I don't have any bruising really at all. Which was surprising but great. Hopefully will get it all off next week. but really loving that I can put on shirts that were tight before and they fit really well!! Yall will be so glad I am. Had a small melt down last night and the first few days were rough but after today I know I can do this. Keep us all posted really want to see how well yall will do it will be great!
Kingston527 9 Oct 2011
@cwgrlup, I still haven't decided if I am going with the hospital bed or recliner. I kinda need to see the room situation... Anytime you need to talk we totally can. Send me a private message!
@georgiamom, congrats on your surgery!! How exciting. Keep us updated on how you are doing.

I just found this site and have found it to be truly informative with real tt stories from people. I have a total hysterectomy/tummy tuck/lipo scheduled on nov 17th. I am sooooo excited to be rid of my 'fupa'. I'm just 8 months post-partum so my biggest concern is recovering with a 4 yr old and 8 month old. I didn't think recovering from my c-section was bad at all so I'm hoping this experience will be similar. Just got my packet of info and compression garments today. I'm counting down the days!
