Is anyone using the silicone tape? How long did your ps tell you to use it? I was given two rolls. I asked my ps about it, and he seemed to think I would heal fine without it but said I could use it if I want to. I can cut it in half lengthwise. I have read not to reuse it, but the friend who gave it to me said her ps said it could be reused until it stopped sticking. I am using it and am experiencing no problems with it. I'm wondering how long I need to use it. Does anyone know? My surgery was Nov 15. I knew to wait until all incisions were completely healed, so I've only just begun to use it this week.

What is silicone tape for?

To reduce scarring.

I just found a thread on this forum that discusses taping. One person said 8 weeks; another said 3 months. One said not at all. I think it would be helpful if someone taped one breast but not the other to observe the results, but it's sure not gonna' be me. Hahaha

I officially was sized at Victoria secret which I could not fit before my br. I am a 38D down from a 42G. I thought I'd be smaller than a D but I guess I will take it ;) I found some good bras at vs but I found a perfect bra at kohls that is bogo1/2 off right now. It's a Bali full coverage U shape smart size bra (no wire but full support). It is so fantastic. Even my ps commented on it yesterday at my 8 wk po visit. You all should check it out. It is honest to goodness the most comfortable bra I have ever been in, and its possible to wear it all day long w/o it bothering me at all.

VS runs small - so you could be a C other places - it depends on the maker. I have the Genie bras and love them. LOL

I was expecting mine to cost $3500. But the PS cut some of his costs for me. Total out of pocket was...$25. I think I love him.

That is amazing...I wasn't covered by insurance and paid $7800...really shows what the insurance system is doing to health care. The hospital bill alone is just amazing. Glad you were covered, but what an eyeopener.

My surgery stay is $24,500. I haven't received the hospital charges yet. I stayed overnight. I was pre approved by insurance so I don't know what my portion will be.

My hospital bill was $25K, but my put of pocket was $350!!! That's why we decided to do the surgery at that time bc we had met our deductible & we weren't sure where the health care system was headed & if my approval would stand in the new year. I got my dr portion of the surgery & all my visits to date this week & it was $17!!!! I have not gotten an anesthesiogist bill yet, but so far u have ZERO complaints!

7 weeks po and things are getting easier and easier. The only thing thats really annoying is sleeping in these bras! Talk about discomfort. There's also this one are of scarring near my cleavage that doesn't want to flatten. I massage and press firmly yet gently as per the Dr.'s orders, it flattens for just a little while and then its back again. Any suggestions?

Anyone have fluid problems? I'm dec 11 but wanted to ask you that are ahead of me. I had a hematoma on the right, which the bruising and everything has healed. I've been having swelling issues, and I can tell there's fluid. I think I have a seroma on the right. My boobs feel like water balloons. :( It's the most comfortable when I'm laying down, but as you know we need to work and take care of houses. I seem the most swollen after work. The drs prefer it to absorb on its own bc of the infection risk with draining it. Ugh! So frustrating- I just want to heal. :(

I have that too! My br was nov 7th!!! My ps said the same thing about letting it absorb. My husband was trying to be funny, but it was kinda hurtful, he said I had a 3rd boob! Mine was under my rt breast, under where my bra band would be. She had me put rolled wash clothes under there to apply pressure to that bump. I have to say it has gone down considerably, but I didn't really notice it going down until my incisions were healed. I haven't been able to get fitted for a bra yet bc of that swelling, which is frustrating! Bottom line, I think it will flatten out over time, you are 4 wks behind me so it just takes time.

Oh & I do notice the swelling come back a little if I'm doing a lot of housework or lifting the kids. I had the big hump from like the end of the 1st week & ps said it was from too much arm activity! They shoulda just wrapped us like mummies with our arms to our sides. It's impossible to not use your arms AT ALL!

Thanks for the info. It's so aggravating! It's funny what u said about 3rd boob- u actually had surgery 3 yrs ago to remove breast tissue from my armpit. They said it was like a teenage breast lol! Looking back, I should've just done the whole reduction then! My husband threatened to put leeches on me. At the hospital where I work, we have actually done that on occasion. I'm glad to know you are on the mend- I'm looking for the light at the end of the tunnel. Despite the issues, I don't regret this for a minute! My shoulders feel light as a feather!

Yes! They keep telling me to rest but there's so much to do. And I wish my chest could be mummy wrapped bc compression feels so good!
