Has anyone needed a moderate profile implant for one breast and a high profile for the other because of scoliosis?

By longlean3000 on 19 Jan 2013

I have scoliosis and my chest wall is a lot more concave on the right side.  When we put in the sizers we couldn't get them to look even.  I was trying the Allergen style15 midrange.  My doctor suggested trying a high profile (style 20) on the side that the chest wall goes in slightly and keeping the style 15 on my left.  This looked much better to my husband, the doctor and nurse who were all in the room.  Of course I'm hesitant going with one high profile and one moderate profile and so would love any feedback if you have it.

Kimothy, So sorry to hear this. Did your doctor help you pick your size? Did you use the sizers before hand. It is such a hard thing to determine size/profile and hard to know how it will look after. Does your doctor think they will even out? Was your chest wall different or just breast tissue? If you don't mind me asking, what size were you before surgery? I would suggest asking the doctor what he can do if it doesn't even out because he is the "artist". I hate feeling like we have to pick the size and it's our decision, the doctor should make sure it is mostly even ( we know it's not perfect, but at least better than pre-surgery). I wish you the best.

Hiya longbean3000 its was the doctor who picked my sizes I was empty 34a/aa before I had moderate profile 330cc left and high profile 345cc right the left side of my chest bone is slightly higher then the right not by much tho. I haven't yet seen my surgeon I have decided to give it a few more weeks he did state that there would be a difference but at the minute it looks more noticeable then b4 surgery I'm hoping once they drop and fluff it will be much better but to be honest I think that the right side needs a bit of a bigger implant. I am due to see dr frati at mya on the 4th april that will be my 6 weeks check at the minute its the moderate side that looks so much bigger and fuller the high profile side looks really small compared to it hopefully if it stays the same the dr will do a re op and either go bigger on the right side with a bigger high profile implant cc or smaller left moderate profile. i wasn't expecting perfect but better then it looks at present just hoping with time it will look much better. i really did freak out the other day after taking the photo that showed the difference in how they look have been reminding myself that its going to take time b4 i can see the actual result. sorry if i've freaked you out as that wasn't my intension. If you don't mind me asking what surgeon are you going with also implant size and also your start off size. Last but not least when's your op date hope all goes well for you x

Glad you are feeling better about it now. it does take time to tell for sure... My surgery was Feb. 1. I was 36AA before surgery and had 265 moderate on Left and 350 high profile on right. I picked my sizes after trying on sizers in his office. I did not want anyone to tell I had done this, so went quite conservative with the size. I wore a highly padded bra before and now I don't look much bigger than before but now I at least fill out a bra and fill out a swimsuit etc. I could have gone bigger but I didn't want to regret going too big... I can always wear a bra with some padding if I want to be bigger (I have to keep telling myself that. It's amazing how if you have nothing you think you'll be happy with anything)I have seen my doctor 3 times already after my surgery and he is pleased with how even they look. I went with Dr. James Clayton. I am 3 weeks post op and still waiting for them to drop and to see how they change...Do you think yours are so uneven that it is noticeable in clothes to you? I'm sure your doctor will do a re-do for you, but maybe you won't need one once they settle into place. :)

Kimothy, how did your operation go? I wish I had seen your post earlier. I went with 265 moderate left and high profile right 350. They look super even, it is amazing. I'm so glad I went with different profiles even though it was a little scary. Good luck and I hope you have fabulous results!

Thanks! Yes, it did look good and even. I'm going to go back in one more time to try on the sizers and check (for just the third time) LOL and then I think I'm going for it! Thanks for the links.

What a great question! It seems like if it looks better, then that is the way to go. Here's what some doctors say about breast implants and scoliosis.
