Will my nipples go back to normal after breast reduction?

I had stage 2 breast cancer in March 2012. After chemotherapy to reduce the tumor, I had surgery to remove the remainder. At that time a breast reduction was done so that both breasts would match. I am now 3 months post op, my nipples remain semi erect. Not to be vain but I did like my nipples, will they ever become fully erect again?

Hi dianawon, I had BR done 4mos ago. Although I am very pleased with the result I do not have much sensation areound the nipple areas on both breasts. Also, my right breast nipple is very small and is barely erect at times. My doctor said that it might take time for sensation to return but I am not so sure. The left nipple does become erect when touched but there is very little sensation. I am disappointed with this but the overall positive feelings I have from the BR overtake any negative feelings about the nipple areas. I wish you continued good health and good luck.

Mine were erect for quite some time which was total opposite for me, my entire life i never had nipple sensation or erect nipples beacuse my breast were so large that i didnt have feeling in them. After surgery, i have full feeling like never before and nipples that work how they are supposed to, It took several months for them to go back to ":normal" but it has been wonderful. Time heals.

I am curious how long it took for the nipples to become erect and for you to have nipple sensation. I am still not experiencing much sensation and I am hoping that his will change. It has been 4 mos. Thank you for your comments.

@Ella13 - My nipples had sensation after only 3 or 4 days and stayed hypersensitive for a few months, around the 4 or 5 month mark, the quited down to what i assume "normal" nipples are like. Im wishing you the best of luck and keep us updated!
