I did the injections and I found it depends on what skin type you are to how dark you go. I also found that when you are about to do the injection the best thing to do is eat something because otherwise you can feel sick. Also once you have done you're loading stage you will notice that the tan will start to look more natural but sticking to what they tell you is the best thing. Also if you over do it on the amount you put into you're body you will find that you're colour will go darker. Also make sure you still wear SPH when you go out because you still need it, No 15 is good

It is safe in use but be careful when you are taking Melanotan dosage. This hormone is known to be highly potent and one will have to experiment with low dosage under proper medical supervision when making use of this hormone for the first time. On the other hand, regular users of this hormone are known to get acclimatized to its usage and do not face any adverse side-effects of the same. However, one has to be careful of overdose as it can have many drastic effects on the body. Moreover, excess dosage will not have any good effects on the problem in question. One often refers to Melanotan as the “Barbie drug” however overuse of anything is bad. Also, an interesting fact about this hormonal drug is that one does not necessarily have to be out in the sun for getting a rich tan. As such, it is also known as a drug that gives a “sunless tan!”

Where would someone recommend buying this from? Obviously we all want to buy from the same vendor that the people with good experiences have.

Hi yes you can stay on it or can you it just before holidays or anything you'd like to be brown for!! Basically it is a hormone (that is naturally present in the body) that produces excess melanin in the skin therefore stimulating it to make you darker in the natural sunlight or sunbeds! Ur tab accelerates 10times faster and darker , reduces risk of burning therefore decreases your chances of cancer!' it's legal in the states! Our country just can't afford it!! I researched for years and every to
use it I'm impressed everytime :))

It does increase the rate of tanning. It does NOT prevent skin cancer. As I've mentioned in reply to other posts, the only effective ways to prevent skin cancer are to avoid sun exposure and to wear sunscreen daily.

does this cause skin cancer i dnt understand propley?

Rishel 19 Sep 2012
The claim is that it reduces risk of skin cancer, which is not true. The only true ways to reduce skin cancer risk is to stay out of the sun and wear broad spectrum sunscreen every day.

what do you do. Do you use it everyday for a couple weeks then back off? or do you just continue to use it everyday? Any side effects? Im really wanting to get this please contact me.

Rishel 19 Sep 2012
You're supposed to use the product every day/every other day, until you build up to the level of color you want. Then you only do an injection, I believe at a lower dose, every week or two to maintain.
Rishel 19 Sep 2012
Of course, you still have to always use SPF during sun exposure, and preferably every day even if you're just gonna be outside for 15 minutes. Having a tan, no matter how you get it, does NOT decrease risk of melanoma skin cancer. Though African Americans have a slightly lower risk (and I do mean that it's slight enough that most doctors will NOT mention it) of developing melanoma, they are actually at INCREASED risk to die of it because it's harder to detect.

Where did you buy the melanotan from and is it melanotan or melanotan 2? I'm looking at using it but I'm worried that I may buy dodgy stuff!

I used this stuff for 6 months and I would get so sick from it. It made my cheeks sag which made my dark circles worse and left deeper depression in my cheek. It also brought more sun damage to my skin. I looked like I had aged 30 years. It was awful! I had got like 100 flat moles in addition to the many I had already had and they never went away like what I had read. At first, I got so tan that I was pretty much black.(I freaked my mom out when I bumped into her at the grocery store. She thought I was wearing stage make-up all over my body trying to be black. Looked very un-natural at that point) Soon after that, I started to look like I had jaundice. My hair started growing thicker and blacker and I became so oily!! It was crazy. I literally would have to reapply makeup every 5 to 15 minutes because thats how long it took for the make-up to come off from my extremely oily face. I did back off the doses but it didn't help with the side effects. As I backed off the tan looked more natural like it did in the beginning. I had a very bad experience with this stuff!! If there was some way to prevent the illness from injections, sun damage and moles from appearing or getting worse, I would be all over this stuff. Until then, I am staying far away from this stuff

me again ...By the way...I am so pale..so Being almost black was crazy

A small caveat to fellow readers: Unfortunately there are unscrupulous individuals who sell the melanotan peptides that go around on the internet and rave about what it can do and downplay side effects. The melanotan peptides (melanotan-1 "afamelanotide" and melanotan II) are not "supplements" but indeed they are drugs that are administered via subcutaneous injections (in virtually an identical way as the peptide drug insulin is administered). The simple fact to the matter is that as of right now these peptide drugs have never been licensed for human usage outside of health agency sanctioned clinical trials. As such there are no regulated laboratories manufacturing these drugs. The reason this is a problem is that one cannot have the highest degree of confidence that what they will purchase on the internet is indeed what it was sold as without having independent testing done on the product. It is true that the FDA has approved drugs for human usage that later proved to be too toxic for general usage (and were subsequently removed from the market) but individuals should never discount what they do out of hand. The FDA does it's best to establish the safety of drugs and to authorize drugs for given usages according to a risk vs. benefit ratio. The FDA examines large volumes of information and employs specialist doctors and medical scientists to better understand how drugs work in determining whether a drug will be approved for usage or not. In the overwhelming number of cases the FDA gets it right but in the end the organization is not a machine and therefore is subject to human shortcomings. Given these facts it should be in the minds of those who use drugs that regardless of a drug's license status it can still potentially be harmful even when used as directed. By the same token just because a drug or food product is not licensed by the FDA does not immediately mean that it is dangerous but rather that it's level of danger in usage is officially unknown to the FDA. Folks should look upon glowing reports about usage of the melanotan peptides with skepticism and be quick to question the conflicts of interest that the person doing the glorifying may have (ie: are they involved in sales of the peptides?). At the same time when someone is talking about the peptides in a negative light their conflicts of interest should also be examined (ie: are they part of sales of DHA based tanning products or just anti-drug in general?). In both cases the more that a given individual can cite scientific and/or medical texts to support what they are saying the more that what they are saying should be given weight. Sincerely, Scott Stevenson

This is a bunch of bull. Testing drugs on animals, does not make it safe.

Have to agree with the above! I have read nothing negative about Melanotan and have been researching it for 2 years and using it for 6 months. I look and feel great.

Forget what she said. The FDA has ZERO credibility!!! They approve drugs that kill!! they wont approve hcg for weight loss. they will approve meth though. the FDA banned ephedrine which is Mao huang an herb. because it out performs the meth they give for weight loss. The FDA's own site said there was nothing wrong with it. We need the free market not poison pushers!!! google bayer+Aids or you can see the report on youtube. When the FDA tells me something is good and safe I run!! When they tell me to run from a drug I look further into it. Melanotan II is a good suppliment!!
mkuechel 29 Nov 2008
Melanotan and Melanotan II are not approved by the U.S. FDA as a  injectable tanner, a prevention of skin cancer or for any other reason.  In fact, a company marketing this product has received FDA warnings (see http://www.fda.gov/bbs/topics/news/2007/new01694.html) for fraudulent claims and illegally selling a non-approved drug.  Some might argue, as in the case of Lipodissolve, that injected melatonin is a supplement and therefore does not need approval.  Wrong. A drug is defined as "articles (other than food) intended to affect the structure or any function of the body of man or other animals" [FD&C Act, sec. 201(g)(1)].  Injecting a substance into the body to produce a tan affects the function of skin and therefore said substance, is a drug. The absence of FDA approval or even sanctioned clinical trials or qualified peer-reviewed clinical stuides means that there are no qualified data for efficacy, advserse events or even related to dosing. Appropriate dose:  ZERO.
