I'm flabbergasted that doctors still tout the "collagen" that Sculptra creates as a benefit. Read the literature from the company. The mechanism by which Sculptra works is through a "granulomatous reaction" meaning that it is designed to cause a foreign body reaction. That is what causes the volume to happen. The volume does not come from the material itself, but the scarring that it stimulates.

My small lumps went away. I used the Trinity Facial Toner machine and it seem to help dissipate; however, my girlfriend, to my horror and amazement, had Sculptra injected under both her eyes. 6 Months later, she has developed the nastiest looking lumps/granulomas under both eyes. I almost passed out when I saw her -I cried, actually. She went from being a lively, attractive New Yorker to a grief stricken, hermit. What Dr. does this? It says not to inject product under the eyes. No surgeon in Manhattan wants to work on her right now. She has been told to "wait a year." How can she possibly walk around looking like this for a year? I am so angry!! The Dr., who did this to her, will not return phone calls or take responsibility for his actions. He implied that there is something wrong with her and the way her body "reacted to the product" -end of story. Even though the small lumps in my cheek went away, I think I am going to beg my friend to start a class action. She needs some justice! This is so wrong! She trusted her Dr. and his lack of compassion and responsibility, really irritates me to no end. I work in the legal field, so I know how to get the ball rolling. I am so sorry that all of you are going through this - Really, so sorry.

My lumps are painful. the occuloplastics surgeon who has tried to fix this mess caused by another doctor, said that the periorbital nerve is being impacted by the granulomas in the area. he tried to tease the granuloma off the nerve but did not want to risk doing additional damage to the nerve. It is such a shame this has happened to me.

I see lumps every day when I look in the mirror because of sculptra.

Do you still have lumps? Or they're gone?

Dru - you seem to know so much about Sculptra - I'm so confused about how the lumps could be treated. Have you heard about trying to put other filler around the lumps so they look less visible?

from my experience, you should be put on doxycycline or biaxin. talk to your dr about going on an antibiotic pronto. unfortunately, I have had to learn way too much about sculptra.

I have had some surgically removed but It is very difficult for a sugeon to remove them all and I still have lumps. the worst thing was that there was necrosis and infection of the obicularis muscle and it went into the bone. I had to have part of my face cut out because it was dead. I have had reconstruction but they can not restore the appearance, just improve it to this extent.

Dru, I'm going to Johns Hopkins for my first of many surgeries go get this stuff out. The 20th of Dec will be my grist surgery. He say about 10-12 more will follow. I hope I'm doing right. He said I had dead skin as well.

still there. I am under the impression they do not go away. Did you know that poly lactic acid (sculptra) is the same thing that is used in 3D printers to make objects? It is PLA is used as the material that makes objects in 3D printers. It is also what was injected into your face if you got sculptra. I is NOT the same thing as absorbable sutures anymore than kool aid is the same thing as water. Sculptra is total garbage and does not belong in anyones face. It also causes many health problems because it messes up your immune system. Do Not Use It and if you have been lucky enough to be OK then my advice is to stop using it. I wish someone had told me the truth about this stuff and I would have said no way to the used car salesman board certified plastic surgeon who told me how very safe and natural it was. And there is a bridge that goes to Brooklyn for sale also. Jeeze.

I hope it works for you! Keep us posted please. Maybe if they are just forming it will help but I think if it was that simple the really smart Dr. who has tried to help me with these problems (he did not inject me) has every type of gadget available to him in his state of the art mini hospital 3 story facility. I would think if it were as easy as ultrasonic treatments he would have had me do it. But.... maybe. For all of our sake, I hope it works.

In time...it took a year for them to appear and my friend had it done at the same time as me and she has none....living in hope that they will go...

Dru11 thats so scary to think that we have had this rubbish injected into us..Iam ok heath wise just lumps.."well ok health wise at the moment" but thanks for letting me know I had no idea this could happen...I am still giving the sonic toothbrush a go and yes my husband says you can't see some of them now. I look like i have been bitten by mosquito's..on the sonic side they have gone down and feel softer. well Thats all I can do as my doctor is very reluctant to inject with the steroid as he did it on another patient and she ended up with a depression in her face that looked worse...

This crap never lets go. I am 2 years out, thought the worst was behind me, now I felt a big ball of scar tissue inside my mouth on the left cheek. Is this a granuloma, scar tissue? How do you know the difference? The burning and inflammation come and go and at the moment are so intense. I feel for you Dru and all the others who have become victims of this hideous procedure.

I had my face injected with sculptra 10 months ago and my right cheek four weeks ago because it didnt match the left. I have the burning sensations. And I have a huge knot on my right temple, like Frankenstein. Also my right side is not smooth. Im not happy at all.

Hi Linda, Over a year now since my first lumps stated to appear, I was not injected in my temple area all my lumps are in my cheeks and the odd ones on my jaw line...they are still coming up smaller ones....I feel like a ticking time bomb. I have to massage with a sonic toothbrush on my face 4 times a day to try and keep them smooth and not so noticeable. this is a lung lasting filler and I just wish I had done some research before I had it done...to scared to have them injected as this can sometimes cause a depression which would probably be my luck and It would look worse. just lots of massage and wait until it goes 3 years plus from what I have read on here, I am just 2 years post injections in september.

I had 2 I injections last fall Nd developed nodules inside both cheeks approx r5 mos later. Thet have been diagnosed as chronic sialadentitis and incipient mucus reaction. I experience constant excessive saliva that is driving me insane. I wish I had never ever heard of this product.

I too have the excessive saliva problem along with other terrible problems from sculptra. Is there anything the doctors can do about the sialadentitis and mucus? I feel like I'm choking all the time and have to pull the mucus out in long strands. Help please with any info you have. I have mentioned it to the doctors and they think I'm crazy.
