17 days post-op - I've lost weight and my butt got smaller!

I'm 17 days post op and have not had much of an appetite since my surgery. I've lost almost 10 lbs and my butt got smaller. Would gaining weight help make it bigger again or are those fat cells lost forever?

Hi Houston -- Hope you're doing all right.

Fat cells are like little balloons; you have a certain number of them, but they deflate as you lose weight. So, weight gain would cause them to fill up. However, it's also possible that your body is absorbing some of the fat and your post-op swelling is reducing, which would make your butt look smaller.
