Loose cheeks after IPL

Hello everyone, this is my first post here. I began IPL treatments (remove freckles) around 4 months ago (1 each month) and I had my final one about 2 weeks ago. I have noticed that my cheeks have become quite loose since the treatments and I am wondering what I should consider doing to correct it. My sister has loose cheeks but mine were always tighter (perhaps the sun damage made them tighter, or whether the freckles made it less noticeable etc I don't know). I would like to know whether EndyMed for skin tightening/fat reduction would be appropriate. I am worried that I would expect too much skin to be removed and might require a minimal face lift around my cheeks. Many thanks, sp123

I just did EndyMed 3DEEPĀ® FSR this morning, it really painful and my face is extremely red and burning, this is not what I expected as the doc said there's no downtime and only a few hours redness - COME ON! now I have to us high coverage make up to cover the redness and hopefully won't be noticeable =.=b

Well I am very happy you had great results. I always worry with any procedure based on thermal heating for repair. I do believe for those of with scars created by IPL and Fraxel stand a gamble of it getting worse. I also worry because I am older than you and my skin does not turn over cells as quickly anymore and damage sometimes shows up later. Did it cause much pain? Did it take several procedures? Is the cost similiar to other skin tightening how is it different? Enjoy your new firm skin and Happy Holidays.

Hi, To answer your questions: 1) Pain level - there is none, they put this jel on to your face, then with the handset they rub it around the area you want treated. The temperature of it was lukewarm I did get a few zaps (total of 2-3 over 5-10 minutes) but it is nothing like IPL. I am having a mental blank at the moment, but if you warmed up some thick cream in the microwave and rubbed it into your face for about 5 minutes this is exactly what it would think like I think! 2) It did take several procedures, I only did 4 and had excellent results. The Dermatologist said I need 8. My results showed up in 6 weeks (because I am young) which for most people it is 3 months. They do the treatments weekly 3) I am in Australia and everything is expensive here, if you're in the US it would be cheaper. I paid $350 per treatment it's around $400 ish here in Australia but I have quite a bit done at this clinic so he gave me a discount *yay* I have not tried any other skin tightening but as far as I know endymed is the one you use for your face. I don't know whether you lose fat, but the skin is definitely tighter. I complained about my (Genetically) fat cheeks so I don't know whether he turned it up to a higher frequency. I was told that I need to go back for 2 treatments a year so I don't know how factual this is or if clinics just say this to make money. I highly recommend endymed if you like, but you HAVE to be patient for results. I think it's great for people who would not consider getting a facelift although it is expensive. Endymed is not for the body eg abs, there is another laser they use for that but I am not sure which one it is. Also be sure on the dermatologist you go to, I think some cheaper places can have some less significant results. One thing I thought I would mention is this: I got 2 endymed treatments and my skin was tighter, then on the 3rd visit I had an IPL session which removed a lot of pigmentation and I noticed that the IPL pretty much reversed all of the endymed. On my fourth it started getting tighter again so I don't know. Dermatologists (with their expert testimony) here on Realself swear that IPL does not have the capability of making skin loose, yet I and a lot of other people complain about it. I don't know, I'm not a doctor but take what you want from that Hope I could help! If you have any more questions I am more than happy to answer :)

I guess loose skin was the only bad side effect from the IPL? Unfortunate for so many of us we have the dark spots, lines, holes, etc. In other words IPL and Fraxel just destroyed our skin on the surface and deep down. The damage continues even years later so you are very correct I believe when you felt it made your skin sag. I am happy that you found a way to get the results you wanted.

No need to worry, I went through with the treatment and I am extremely happy with my results!

My endymed treatments were a big waste of $$. I think it's junk science.
