How long can I leave aligners out at any one time ?

Hi, I am on to my second set of trays. I have them in for 22 hours a day, plus or minus 20 minutes. My breaks are between 20 and 40 minutes. What if I want a longer break for a social occasion ? I once did  half hour breaks breakfast and lunch, then 3 hours for an occasion. When I put them back in they felt a bit tighter. The next day I was back to my 22 hour routine.

I would ask your dentist -- I had to have my aligners out during the day for a week due to a medical issue (wore them at night), and just wore them for three weeks instead of two.

I have an upcoming week-long biking trip. I am worried about dealing with the aligners during the day. Usually on these trips there is a lot of Gatorade and snacking to keep up energy. Don't know how I am going to deal with this...I would appreciate any suggestions. I have been very faithful about wearing them the required hours, and meticulous about the brushing and flossing so far.

I've had the aligners out for several hours (8+), but it's recommended to wear them at least 20 hours a day. You may find that you are way less obsessive about the hours after you have gone through several trays.
