How long did you guys wear your garment??

By Linda50 on 28 Feb 2011

I will be 6 weeks post op this Wednesday, March 2nd. I am scared to take off my garment even thought my PS told me I could switch to a stage 2 garment last week. So, my question is how long did you wear yours before you felt comfortable switching or just going without it?

One day then switched to a Spanx type from wal-mart...it was a torso (under the breast) and boyshort type bottom. I wore it about 3 weeks and then just off and on when I felt like I needed it.

I wore my binder for about 6 weeks per doctor order. I'm 2 months now and I still sleep in the binder. I usually wear some type of high waisted spanx, fleexes or compression tank during the day. I like fact that at the end of the day I have little or no swelling.

Long- When you look at my review you will see a pic of me in jeans. I have on my high waisted cg thingy. I got that one from Walmart and its one of my favorites.

Thanks YB I am still in the one I wore home from surgery. Then I will be going to a simpler one. Do you remember the brand or style number or anything from the one you got from WalMart?

I wore my binder, what I affectionately referred to as "the octopus" for at least 8 weeks. I just wore loose clothing. It made me feel more secure and I knew it was temporary in the grand scheme of things.

I am STILL having trouble finding the right size or fit for stage 2. my PS said I could but I am not comfortable. I tried for 2 days to wear other ones but just was so swollen.. I still have my stiches so would love something that I could just wear all day and not have to PEEL off of me to go potty. suggestions

I'm nearly 4 weeks, and still wearing my binder all day. Just the last couple of nights I slept without it. The only reason for that was, my abdomen is terribly flaky with peeling skin, so I've been creaming the heck out of it overnight. I'm still sleeping on my back, so not having the binder on is not too uncomfortable.

I go to the doc today, and the nurse is going to give me some suggestions for next stage garments. I may wear something else during the day, as my binder does tend to ride up a bit, so it gets uncomfortable when I sit at my desk for long periods.

Hey girlfriend, honestly it depends on how I'm feeling and what my day has been like.

I usually sleep without but if I've had a long day or big workout, it sometimes feels good to put on a medium size for sleeping. The light compression feels "good" to me.

At first post op, the medium sizes fit great then they got too big as I healed and I wear a size small now. Now my "smalls" are kinda roomy.

Let me know how you like the one I recommended. I tried at least 6 different styles/versions until I found that one.

Lol barbie I ordered the one you told me about. The one I has was the super duper. Too tight. It comes on Wednesday. Do you sleep without one though?

At my one week check-up, my PS let me toss out my stiff surgical compression garment and switch over to Spanx or other stage 2 garments. Took me forever to find the right style Spanx that I really like.

I'm at 8-1/2 weeks post op and I still like wearing my Spanx during the day and during workouts. The light compression just feels good to me and secure, especially during workouts.

Could you tell me which styles of Spanx you liked best? I think I get to transition to lighter compression next week...cannot wait as I have hated all of my garments, and besides, it's starting to get hot here in Houston!
