Liposuction on the NHS?

By Sharon at RealSelf on 23 Feb 2011

...Not quite.

You still can't get cosmetic liposuction covered under the United Kingdom's National Health Service (NHS). But now you can, in some circumstances, have a reconstructive procedure using your own body fat. The fat grafting procedure can be used to correct congenital abnormalities, cancer reconstruction and other medically-covered procedures. In the process, you lose some fat around your midsection or thighs (common donor areas).

What do you think -- has the NHS made the right decision, or should more traditional reconstructive surgeries be tried first?
