I wrote a review but am not sure if it was submitted. I discovrered by accident that the "cure" to the dark rings is crying because latisse blocked my tear ducts. I started using latisse about 3 month ago. My lashes look great but the skin under my eyes have gotten very dark and it is a large area. I thought it was due to a cold i had had a few weeks ago but after I was fully recovered, the rings were there bad as ever. I had a row with my family one night and spent an hour or 2 cying my eyes out and the next morning, lo and behold, the rings had completely disappeared. I did some internet research and read that glaucoma medication can cause congestion of the tear ducts. My understanding is that Latisse is a derivative of glaucoma medication and I put two and two together. I kept on using latisse since and my dark rings are back just as bad as before (they returned about 3 days after the cry) and now I will stop using Latisse and watch sad movies to test out my theory. I hope this helps because I was at a complete loss as to why my eyes rings looked so terrible and wanted to share what I learnt.

I wish I could say the same for me I strongly suggest that one do their reseach first. The manufacturer of Latisse shame on them for using subjects with hazel eye color; hence, "blue green or brown around the pupil," colored eyes. This had permanently changed my natural emerald green blue brown around the pupil eye color to a dark Christmas green color. Shame on me for not first doing my research and not taking the vaque warning about eye color changes seriously. I only used this product for a week and a half and then realized the change and quickly stopped the product. I can only hope that maybe some day my original eye color will return. jenzie

Hello "ilovemydog" I too cannot understand why I have gotten such extreme dark/brownish pigmentation on my eyelid and under eyes/dark circles. I look back on pictures and never seen this type of darkness. Did you stop using latiesse and did the darkness go away?
shelly31 3 May 2013
Hi jenzie, How long has it been since you stopped? I hear your color will come back a few months 3-4 after stopping the use of the product. My light brown color looks darker too, but then it could be the darker circles that make my whole eyes look darker :(

It has been almost 4 months now since my discontinued use and I was also recently told by an Optometrist that the attached permanent stain to my irises will not disslove. Thanks Allergan and the FDA for that. I wonder if I go swimming in a chlorinated water if this will bleach this out of my irises. Jenzie

Hi Shelly31, I stopped using latisse about 2-3 weeks ago and there is a definite improvement to the darkness. I should have stopped the first time after the darkness went away completely because the continued use of Latisse made the darkness return very quickly. While it isnt 100% gone, I can now use 1 layer of concealer to decent effect while before i couldnt even conceal the darkness with many layers of 2 different concealers. Hope your situation improves as well!

Latisse is generally applied once a day and at the base of upper eyelashes.I am using it since 6 months, but never seen any darkening under my eye. Latisse is the FDA-approved treatment to grow lashes longer, fuller, darker, is easy to use, FDA approved and effective.

Lash treatments are great but if you’re going to spend the money, eyelash extensions is another avenue to explore! They're great since you can see the immediate results. Eyelash extensions are getting very popular and becoming very affordable, it works like this, one false lash is attached to one natural lash. We have around 90-120 natural lashes, these extensions are attached to our “mature” lashes this creates a look more full + volume + length + curl. They are semi permanent so you can keep the look for nearly 3 weeks until you go back for a refill. You can continue to get refills every 2-3 weeks and maintain the look or you can stop and lose your extension is the natural way. Depending on the person we lose on average 1-5 lashes a day so gradually you will lose your extensions this way. Or if you can't wait, you can go see a technician to remove them for you. Eyelash extensions, are medium to high maintenance. Proper home care and keeping a clean lash line (washing your lashes everyday) is very important. Other tips includes not sleeping on them, no rubbing, no pulling, there’s a bunch of do’s and don’ts. here’s a link on, how to take care of your eyelash extensions but once you successfully incorporated the routine enjoy the roll out of bed sexy lashes :)

I have seen all kinds of reactions my husband is an eye doctor we prescribe this often. In my expierence my eyelids turned pink and itchy...not too cute but I have seen other patients that look like raccoons or like they have been punched in the eye! And they lucky people just get pretty lashes. When I noticed mine getting pink I switched to applying it every other day. I don't know if that will help anyone else but it helped me

In case some of its ingredients might cause an allergic reaction.

I used it and looked like I was crying my eyes were red all around. Yes Keller 4621, it does turn blue and green eyes brown. I have blue eyes and did not want to lose them!

The skin all around my eyes is purple. I was very careful with the product and never used it on my lower lashes. I am very fair skinned and now I look like a zombie. I hope it goes away and then I will go back to revitalash.
shelly31 3 May 2013
Hi Tersy, just curious, have they gone away if you have stopped using the product? I too look like a zombie and hear it goes away 3-4 months after stopping use of latiesse.

I have been using Latisse since Nov. for restoring eyelashes that had fallen out due to hormonal changes. While my eyelashes look amazing my eyelids and under eye areas do not! I actually had a friend who just popped in one morning ask me if I had been punched in the eye. I constantly look tired and haggard. I am going to stop using Latisse and go back to false eyelashes for special nights out. I can't take looking like this.
shelly31 3 May 2013
Hi KristiC, Did they go away? I'm dying to hear a follow up, I got these black circles too and am frightened they may not go away even if I stop usage now.

I've been using Latisse for about a year and have never experienced discoloration. My skin is *not* sensitive to products, so perhaps I've been lucky. Or maybe I should thank the camouflage of my olive skin tone.
Keller4621 8 Mar 2011
Here's what I experienced:

My entire upper eyelids slowly turned a dark pinkish/purple color, NOT attractive, and for the commentor who said "think of it as eyeliner", it's not the kind of eyeliner I want!

I developed very severe dark purple under eye discoloration and sunkeness. I looked like I was dying. My husband and friends all commented on how terrible I looked.

These side effects developed over about 6 months of use and were just getting worse so I stopped using Latisse.

2 months later the undereye discoloration and sunkeness have largely disappeared but I still have discoloration on my upper lids.

Also, I had lovely greenish brown eyes and now the green is all gone.

I would discourage ANYONE from using Latisse unless you have a medical reason for doing so. The side effects were terrible for me.

I've tried the product for only 6 weeks and my green eyes are starting to turn brown... Did your eyes are returning to their original color since you stop Latisse? Really, I'm freaking out!!! Can you give me a follow up... Thanks!
shelly31 3 May 2013
Hello Kellar4621, I too feel the same way, all my friends and family tell me I look exhuasted! Has the discoloration gone away completely?
Krystal 28 Jan 2011
I use Bimatropost about once per week on upper and lower lashes to give my lashes a "boost" without all the ill side effects. I also tint them with black eyelash and eyebrow tint from Sally' Beauty supply. I can't stand wearing mascara. My lashes look lovely.
cleveland409 27 Jan 2011
I, too, have noticed extreme dark pinkish coloring on the entire upper and lower eyelids.
In addition, this week(month four), I have noticed that I no longer have excess skin hanging over my eyes, presumably due to a total loss of orbital fat.
Since my eyes appear severely hollow, I am forced to wear light shimmery shadow above and below the lids.
Hopefully, after month four, things will adjust a wee bit back to normal. I am using Bimatoprost.
shelly31 3 May 2013
Hi cleveland409, I have the sunkeness too! Oh my gosh, I couldn't understand where this was coming from. Did your hollowness get better yet?
Krystal 2 Oct 2010
Bimatoprost (the active ingredient in Latisse TM) is known to cause loss of orbital fat around the eye. This could cause a sunken effect which can look like dark circles under the eye. It is supposed to reverse itself upon discontinuation of use of the product.

After using Lumigan for 6 weeks, I got it too, and it looks awful! It is a slight purple hint around my entire eye, NOT just where I put the Lumigan (I'm very careful), but both on the entire lid and below my eyes as well. It's very frustrating because it looks like I haven't slept in days. This is by far the worst of the Latisse/Lumigan side effects, because it looks like you're sick.
