can anybody recommend a laser to treat deep scar? i had a inner/medial thigh lift in january 2008. of course it left me with a not so nice scar. one area actually got infected for some odd reason and i had to use dakins solution to get the skin to re grow. so that area is a deep color and bigger.

I recommend having a physician with many different lasers look at it.

I would make sure they have something aggressive (such as Lumenis Encore - ActiveFX, DeepFX, TotalFX) that can be adjusted for a treatment such as this.

Unfortunately, it sounds like you may be disappointed with what a laser could do. Nevertheless, it doesn't hurt to take a look.

thank you for taking the time to offer your suggestions. a friend of mine(dr)has treated me twice with the pixel 2940nm Er:YAG. i havent noticed anything really. i will ask him what he thinks of the lasers you suggested. of course i will get the eye roll, but you never know until you ask. besides, i'm used to him rolling his eyes at me. behind his back i had the medial thigh lift(which i really didnt need). ive never been over weight. i'm 36years old, 5ft 7in and weigh approx 120lbs. i did however have some inner saggy skin that i believe resulted from lipo years ago and of course my mother. now, my behind is gettn wrinkly. good gracious! anyway, go figure! again, thank you for all your help

The Lumenis Encore is a CO2 platform that can perform many different functions depending on what handpieces and software are purchased. My favorites are ActiveFX and DeepFX. They are fractional. Using both together (first DeepFX then ActiveFX) is called TotalFX.

I demo almost all of the new lasers. I didn't see much from the Pixel in any of my patients. I even had it done on myself. . .

i will most definitely ask tomorrow. the doc i go to demo's a load of lasers. i am surprised to hear of this one. i used to work with him and was on the up and up with all the "new" lasers. but, like electronics, it changes every week with something newer and better. so, im sure he knows of it. he goes to all the major laser and derm conventions. he as well as you i'm sure, have seen a lot of bologna laser machines. i cant wait til tomorrow. but, then again not really. my inner thighs feel like a sunburn from hell afterwords. you think your fine. but wait an hour or so and try walking. youch!

A laser may not be your answer. It sounds as though you may be in need of a scar revision surgery, possibly dermabrasion, or maybe even a laser treatment in combination. I would suggest consulting a plastic surgeon in your area. They would have a large arsenal of tools to help fix your problem.
