Hello all -- I'm new here. I've had the lap band for 5 years. I lost exactly 8 pounds and couldn't ever get the band regulated. It was always too tight or too loose. Nothing was right so I had it totally emptied out. I recently tried another fill from another doctor because my insurance refused to continue with anything weight related. My new doctor talked me into having the sleeve. I really wanted the sleeve to begin with but in 2009 it wasn't something that was available to me. My doctor only did the lap band and the complete gastric bypass. Now I sit here 5 years later and about 10 pounds heavier than when I got the band originally. My new doctor wants to remove the band and give me the sleeve. I am ecstatic about it. I have a question that I've heard some on this site say and that's "when they cut off some of your stomach they cut off something else" something starts with a "g" that is suppose to make you almost ambivalent to food? Is this correct? Because I sure wish I wasn't a grazer. And if there was something that could make me not "want" to eat that would be icing on the, er, carrot?
