Ok, so I did the thing I was told not to do....I'm a week and 5 days post op and I weighed myself and I also measured my waistline and tried to put on my jeans. Yikes!!! The weight was great though. I appear to be 14 pounds less than when I had surgery...scale could be wrong...I didn't get lipo. But my waist measures 37 inches...wholy crap. I couldn't even come close to getting my jeans over my belly. OMG...anyone know how long this will last?

3cshell we had our surgery on the same day 2 weeks today yay! I have to say I was stupid jumped on the scale the day after surgery when I got home from the hopital and had gained 13 lbs today I am only 3 lbs above pre op weight wish I could say I lost some like you LOL.... At least I feel some comfort I am not alone but you don't talk about swelling.... At night I swell so bad it is almost painful I can no longer feel my hip or ribs on the right side. I sometimes wonder if this is because my PS didn't use drains only open incisions for drainage for a few days till they close on their own.

Hmm.. that does seem like a lot of swelling. Now I feel bad for saying anything. I had drains for a week and a day. Maybe you should ask your doctor about it. Sometimes they have to drain the fluid if it builds up too much. I do get swelling at night but it's tolerable. When I look at my abdomen, it isn't obviously swollen looking to me except around the incision and belly button. My binder is starting to feel too loose and I'm thinking of switching to gel zone asap. Right now I have my binder off for a little break. I am drinking a lot of water and steering totally clear of high sodium and other processed foods.

Don't panic!!   This all takes weeks to settle down.  Your swelling is going to torment you for a while so hang on.  Everything slims down with time so be patient.

I stayed away from my jeans for the first 4-5 months.

well my waist has gone from 37 to 35 so the swelling is down a bit. I am feeling a little better about it. I got into my big jeans yesterday. It wasn't comfortable for long though cause I still have the stitches and strips and well swelling. My bellybutton is so big and funky. I am busting with happiness at the same time though. Hee hee. Thanks for the support.

You will get there!  Wear the jeans as little as possible.  Keep that tummy free from being squeezed.

Don't freak out...I'm almost 7 weeks post-op and just now fitting comfortably in my pre-op clothes. By the end of the day, they're even a little uncomfortable. I've been told by many on here (as well as my PS office) that this is normal.
