I found this info on the net ... I hope you find it helpful! You may have heard it called "Ken doll syndrome"...why does your pubic mound becomes swollen even though no surgery was performed "down there?" Simple. When you have a compression support garment around your waist and lower abdomen, the swelling has to go somewhere. And, thanks to gravity, that somewhere is usually south of the incision, which is your pubic mound.

But swelling isn't the only thing that will travel south. Bruising usually will flow downhill, too, so don't be surprised if your pubic mound is purple, puffy, and numb. The bruising will go away eventually. Some companies make garments with compression panels at the pubic mound but for many patients, the swelling will just have to be accepted while it lasts.

I am 3 weeks post op. Is anyone else feeling depressed due to all the swelling? I look like I am 3 or 4 months pregnant. : (

I hadn't seen your comment, my page won't load right on the iPad. I feel the same way. I look exactly like you -- four months pregnant when viewed from the side. From the front things look, fine, but I am sooooo pooofy out the front. Somewhat dismayed.

Everyone keeps telling me to be patient. They say it's probably swelling but I don't feel swollen. I am going to go see my PS on Monday and I am going to ask him. I noticed that when I sit I still have a muffin top. WTH?! I thought it's supposed to be gone. Maybe he was too conservative and he did not take enough loose skin.

What a great forum. So much to read. My TT and muscle is 6/27, nervous, excited an hoping i am happy. I do have like the silly question for anyone that has already there tt and muscle repairs. So right now, my muscles are separeted and when i get bloated or have gas, i tend to look pregnant. So after this TT and repair, i am assuming that will not longer be the case? So if i am bloating t would be minimally noticable? I know odd questiong but trying to understand how i will look afterward. Keep writing, loving all the comments.

Hi everyone! I'm so glad I found this group! My TT is scheduled for June 19th!! I have mixed emotions as I am a mom to two very small kids, but I am definitely looking forward to seeing some results! Glad to know there are others going through this too that I can talk to!

Hi everyone! I'm new to this group but based on what I've read so far, I am SO glad I found this site. My TT is scheduled for June 19th and I have mixed emotions. Mainly because I am a mother of a 4 yr old and an 8 month old. I have never really struggled with a weight problem. I will go into surgery weighing about 130 but I have had two C-Sections and my last pregnancy was labeled "polyhydramnious" meaning, I carried over twice the amount of fluid from what I should have carried with him. I was bigger than huge with this most recent pregnancy. This DESTROYED my stomach and now I have a HUGE Diastisis Recti, not to mention a nice big handful (or two) of flappy skin. My biggest concern is the obvious and that would be recovering while also trying to be the best mom I can be. Any suggestions from those of you having the surgery earlier in the the month would be great! God Bless you all! Now, let's get rid of some of this bulge!

Just got off the phone with scheduler after seeing my third consultant PS this morning and liked what I saw and heard; scheduled for TT with some lipo and medial thigh lift for June 22 in Kansas City. Rough road ahead but hopefully worth it in the end. :)

I recently tried jeans at Dress Barn and I love them! They do sit lower so give them a try.

Try "The Buckle" for great jeans! They are not cheap, but love their selection of jeans and help. They have many different brands and styles and great individual help from sales people. I like the Buckle brand (BKE) and Silver brand (Aiko (are slimmer in thigh) or Suki). With my new tummy, hips, thighs and smaller butt, I need a "slim" fit in the thighs/hips and can go with a low-rise or mid-rise jean. I LOVE buying jeans and jean capris now! Good luck!

I'm at 8 weeks. Breasts are not even yet and there might seroma build up in one. I had it drained once 2 weeks ago - anyone else experience this?

As for the TT - using Scar creams and having weekly (expensive) lymphatic drainage massage treatments. I can fit into the majority of my clothes EXCEPT for the low waisted/non stretch clothes. My pooch is still real evident so I'm hoping it gets better and flatter. I've lost 5 lbs and hoping for another 4-5 in 3 weeks which might be pushing it - (especially last night after drinking and eating too much carbs).

Another frustration is the sex thing. I have numbness in many places and understand that nerves take a good year to come back - so when the beau touches me it's an odd feeling and I'm mentally having a hard time explaining this to him. I

Still have some frustrations. What about you all?

I'm a little over 7 weeks PO. Yesterday I think I had a touch of food poisoning and I went for an hour long bike ride. When I got home the gas in my stomach was unbearable. I went to bed with the chills. Today I was better but still had painful gas. I took two gasx and now I am really swollen. My swelling has only been confined to a small area but tonight it's from right under my bra and all the way down. Luckily I have my appt in the morning. What do you think?

Yes, I definatley wear my garment when I workout. MY ps said I didn't have to but it just makes me feel better, nice & secure. My swelling comes & goes, on some days nothing but on others it seems to gradually increase throughout the day and is worse by night but by morning nice & flat again. It doesn't seem any worse after exercise. But I do notice it does swell if I eat a big meal or have a few too many drinks (& I'm not talking water ladies !!!).

If you want to do any type of exercise - wear your garment? Are you swelling or are you done? My PS said no heavy cardio/lifting for awhile unless you want your swelling to come back. Ease into it.

And yes - most definitely wear your garment when you exercise. She keeps telling me not to push my body. Don't sit around and by lazy - go out take a walk etc. I walked 3 miles the other (and I used to be a runner/jogger) and I was exhausted! I'm nearly 7 weeks!

I'm trying out ScarZone until the bottle runs out - will let you know out this works. My only complaints right now are
1. Swelling - I can't fit into my cute shorts
2. and my nipples aren't symmetrical

Patience Patience. MMMM - when did I get that trait? NOT! ;)

Wanted to share some thoughts. I am nearly 10 weeks post op from TT & BA..
Exercise - I got the all clear at 7 weeks to go back but to take it easy & listen to my body. I love my outdoor boot camp and have done 5 sessions in the last 2 weeks with walking on the alternate days. My advise is definatley to ease yourself back into it, I feel fantastic but have not pushed my abs yet. I have mainly concentrated on legs (squats & lunges) and arms (boxing). Oh & starp those boobies down good to protect them!!

Stitches - I had what I thought was a pimple on the incision line of my breast. It wasn't painful just annoying. At my 6 wk consult my PS informed me it was an undissolved, dissovlable stitch. He removed it easily and told me it was quite normal. So dont stress just let your PS know.

Scar therapy - my ps did not want me to use anything until I was 6 weeks and then start massaging the scar with Bio Oil. He also gave me some silicon scar gel to use on any red or raised bits. I love the Bio Oil but to be honest the scar gel doesn't seem to be doing anything.

Anyway, these are just some of my experiences that I thought I would share, in case it was helpful to a fellow realselfer.

My final advice is keep your mantra as "we are all different and there are many versions of normal".

Good luck to you all.
xx

I love the advise from others that have gone before me! I'm a jogger and have only been walking. I am allowed to jog next week (six weeks) but I don't know if I'm "there" yet.
When you exercise do you wear your garment?

thank you sounds great. I was also warned about the stitches thing and I have about 7 that are right under my skin but haven't emerged yet.. and I do wear my binder when I exercise.. I am finding it hard to motivate thou... I hate the swell factor.
