It turned out the issue is not as serious as I thought. I just didn't tape it properly. ..
Thank you for all your support!
Happy healing everyone!

Thank you Chipmunk! My next doctor's appointment is the end of the month, so it doesn't really help much. I just hope that they won't stay like this for the rest of my life....Maybe the nipple areas are the hardest to heal because of all the nerves...

Lotus, if you are really concerned make sure your PS is fully aware of your concerns. Go in earlier if you think you need to. I lost a small part of my areola and am finally healing. I still have some slight drainage and my PS sees me every week. It's been just over a month since surgery. It's important that you and your ps are on the same page. Don't hesitate to contact them if you think there is an issue. Good luck!

I agree with Flagal. If u have concern before ur appointment reach out to ur doc!

I just came back from my 2nd post op. My PS removed a stitch tat was in the area of my nipple that hasn't healed. As soon as he did, my nipple gushed brown fluid. It was sooo much. It literally ran donw my stomach and onto the exam table.

He said something about a fluid pocket and now it should close and heal etc.

It was gross.

Ladies, Did any of you use the arnica montana? I bought some today at the health food place but was wondering your tjought and feelings on this pill! Thank you and happy continued healing!!!
Q2 16 Aug 2012
Faithfull, I took the Arnica pills for a few days before and a few days after my surgery. I've had a very easy recovery, so maybe the arnica contributed.... I also took 1,000 mg of vitamin C during the same time period. Good luck!

Ladies,
I was wondering whether any of you has an issue the the healing of nipples? I'm 5 weeks post-op but the nipples still seem to give me most of the pain....They face sideways and seem to be really tender. When I tried to put them straight, there seems to be an area under each which is more sticky than the rest. It just doesn't look right. Has anyone have similar issue? How did you deal with it?
Chipmunk74 15 Aug 2012
Hi Lotus. I'm 3 weeks post. Well actually 4 weeks post this friday. My nipples have def given my the most trouble in the healing process. I still have an open area on the right nipple where it meets the verticle incision. It has gotten much smaller over the past week and seems to be healing. But my nipples r sooooo sensitive. The material from my bra touching them is horrid. I actually started taping them down.

I have my 2nd post op tomorrow and plan to ask my PS.

I was just wondering if there were a lot of you with issues concerning incisions opening up. I am 11 days post op & won't have my stitches out for at least 2 more weeks. My PS is a real stickler about changing dressings daily & wearing the post op bras 24/7. Maybe that's why she likes to leave the stitches in for a month.

I actually have mostly the ones that dissolve. And I had the surgical glue in alot of areas. The issue was I didn't realize it was glue in some of the areas and thought it was scabbing and bothered it. I think that was the contributing factor to the area around the nipples opening up.

I had both internal and external stiches. My stiches were slowly removed after the 2nd week. They removed every 3rd stich, then every other, until they took them all. I haven't had any issue with incisions opening up. I did notice an internal stich comming up, but hasn't caused any problems. I go on Thursday, so I think they will just pull it out. I don't know what post op bra you are wearing. I've been mostly in a comfortable sports bra since the second week. Happy Healing!

Chipmunk, what kind of ointment are you speaking of? I am beginning to open up on the left side under my breast. I am freaking out!! What can I do about this? What should I avoid doing? I have been on hold with my PS all day until I decide to just hang up and I am not getting an answer fast enough! It's not really that big but it's opening! lol

Any triple bac first aid type ointment will work. At first I was using neosporin cream not ointment b/c that's what I normally use for cuts. I don't like ointments normally. I prefer cream. But got the ointment Walgreens brand per someone's suggestion and it has worked so well. The ointment sorta works as a paste over the opening. I literally plop it in the opening and put the paper tape over it. I can't believe how it has closed up in just 6 days.

It was like a triangle opening where the nipple meets the scar and the the opening traveled halfway up the side of the nipple. Now its just about closed minus the triangle which gets smaller each day.

Go for another post op thursday.

Try the 3M paper tape. I really think that is super helpful withholding incisions in place so they can heal. I have 2 tiny opening under the left boob which closed up in about 4 days with the ointment and tape combo.

Baby me and u have the same. Boob issues. Lool

My doctor suggested bacitrin that can be purchased also at a walgreens, but they gave me a bunch, so I haven't looked yet. They said neosporin can cause irritation, but I think it just depends on the person.

Hello all. I just joined the forum, mainly for some moral support. My BRw/free nipple graft was done 7/16/2012, not quite 1 month ago.
I am doing ok with my healing, but not doing as good as I would like to be. Normally I heal very quickly from surgeries, and no issues with incisions opening or anything leaking or draining. My right breast is looking great and I haven't had any problems with it, the left one is being difficult. I had a small hematoma when my dressings were removed a week after surgery. It bled for awhile, then I started leaking from the "T" junction. "T" junction leaking is just now clearing up but, I had a 1 inch section of my incision open up. That doesn't look pretty but it is nice and pink inside and does not have any odor.
With all of the leaking and seeping I have done, none of it has ever had an odor, it is just clear fluid and an orange clear fluid. My theory is, better out than in. My PS is not concerned and gave me Mupirocin 2% ointment for it.
My problem is, I have a tendency to stay moist under my breasts, one of the reasons I had to have redux, and it is taking what seems like forever to heal up. I know it healing, I get the white slimy coating on the opening, but I wish it would heal faster.

My question is, how can I promote faster healing of the area? I am leaving for Austria in 2 weeks. Happy healing everyone.

Have u tried the 3M paper tape. That's seems to be a hit on this site. I have been usint that along with antibac ointment. I had an opening on my right breast where the nipple meets the verticle scar. It was pretty big and traveled around the nipple. Just randomly opened as the glue wore off. Between the ointment doing the healing and the tape holding it close it has closed about 75 percent in about 6 days.

I also had a small opening in the same area but on the left breast. Much much smaller. Few days of ointment and tape and that one is about 90 percent healed.

Thanks, I am going to get some tape tomorrow when I get my Rx refilled.

I know what you mean about trying to imagine what smaller size you will be after being so huge for so long! When I asked my PS what size I would be she said, "Bigger than me." My new boobs look so small in comparison to my old ones, it's hard to think they are even a C!
Ella13 12 Aug 2012
It is almost 5 weeks for me since my BR and It is difficult for me to put into words how happy I am with my new breast size. However, they still seem really small to me even though the bra size I have buying is C/D. I guess I lived so long with the huge pendulous boobs for so long it will take some time to accept my new size. After reading about miicropore surgical tape and silicone sheets I ordered them online from drugstore.com. Has anyone found these products helpful?
Flgal77 12 Aug 2012
Hi Ella, my ps just gave me some of the silicone sheets cut into strips last week. I have been putting it on at night. I don't know how long it takes to notice a difference, but I'll let you know when I do :)

I hope you manage to find what you are after with out to much cost . Xx

Hi July ladies! Just a quick question! I have talked with the PS office. I was told I will be wrapped and after three days that comes off and then they put me in a sports bra that zips up front! The bra I buy myself! So how do I know what to buy!!! I am a 38 around rib cage which they said it wont change but because of how big I am i wear a 40. They are trying to get me around a full D. I have never ever worn a sports bra!! I am confused. I was told to buy like four or five then when time comes try on and keep the one that works. I am just confused. Can you see me a 40K standing infront of the sports bras trying to figure this out!!! any suggestions will be great!! I go in for my day on August 30th!
Flgal77 9 Aug 2012
The problem with buying 4 or 5 is that they can be expensive. Walmart has some that are zip up and not very expensive. You could try a few of those. I would say get one in a 38 D and a 40 D (and maybe even DD because of swelling). I actually bought a couple that were fruit of the loom hook front that I wear almost every day. They are super comfortable and I paid $10 for 2 online. I also ordered a surgical compression bra that I wore most of the time for the first week or so. Here is the link http://showcase.designveronique.com/designveronique/index.php/shop/postsurgical/bras/yesmina-z-front-zippered-cotton-medical-sports-bra.html

Good Luck!
Chipmunk74 9 Aug 2012
I wear the same hook front walmart bra. Got it in the store. About ten bucks. Sizes come 36 38 40 etc. Based on the reviews I read online about it, it runs small so I got a 40. I'm normally a 38 and it fits fine with swelling guaze stuck in it etc.

I never Ordered a compression bra. Stayed in the surgical bra the doc put me in the first 10 days. It was comfy.
