By Smarteez42 on 19 Dec 2011

So I had a tummy tuck and breast lift 6 Dec.  I am wearing a Hanes Comfort bra already and went and bought s highwasted underwear support garmet at wally world yesterday and am wearing that.  Everthing is going amazingle well except I am ITCHING like crazy!!  I still have the surgical paper tape covering everything, just have been trimming it as it comes loose and I can't figure out if it I am itiching cause I am healing or because of the tape?  Anyone else have this issue?  My two week check up is tomorrow so it is not an emergency just curious is all.  Thank you!!

Smarteez, I had a tummy tuck on the 6th as well and have the exact same problem. My surgical tape has been removed, but I am itchy underneath both breast and even getting bumps under my armpits. My skin is dry and flaky. My incision is red. I have eczema, w I think the binder and lack of my skin being able to breath is the reason for my irration and itch. I wear a cotton shirt underneath my binder to help with the irritation from the binder. Went to my Dr. and he prescribed me zyrtec and calamine lotion. I'm still itchy but I just started the meds. If your Dr. give you any advice please let me know. I feel like I have the chickenpoxs. Thanks and Happy Holiday:)

Are you just itchy where the paper tape was? I am having the same issue!!! Especially the parts that loosen up or that I am re-taping frequently. I had to stop using it. I still have paper tape over my incisions but it is very secured so it isn't bothering me yet. I think it must be common. It horrible though, isn't it?!

I had a tt on dec 19 and I am also itching a lot! From previous surgical exp, the itching is usually due to the wound healing. I just can't get past this compression garment. It's fine, but it's leaving dents on my stomach! Anyone else have this?

I wear a white cotton shirt underneath the compression garment. Helped with the itch. I find aveeno body wash and lotion helpful as well.

I just had a TT on Dec. 19 and I am itching as well but I figured was a result of the the healing and the binder so I would just deal with it. Lord Help me. LOL.

I am 5 weeks post op and so itchy all of a sudden today! A lot of feeling is coming back and I think that is why I itch, it is just a long my incision line. Anyone else having this at this point? My Dr took of tape at 2 weeks so haven't had tape on for a while.

Saw my PS today and he recommended lots of body lotion all around, as well as a wound cover to use in another week. He said that surgery affects the normal functioning of the sweat glands and nerves, causing dry, flakey skin. I use Cerave, works well to calm the itchy (non-wound) areas.

Well I figured out what was causing my itching. I was using Maderma on my scar and had been using it for almost a week but It looks as if I created an allergy or skin reaction to it. I started seeing redness around my incision exactly in the area that I applied the Maderma. I since have not used it since yesterday morning and the itching is subsiding. Just in case anyone else i using Maderma. I do have very sensitive sking though I can't use those self tanners without breaking out in bumps.

It is itching a lot and I'm in my 7 days post op. My doctor said that I should wear something under my gourmet, I did it. So far I'm ok. Good luck friends.
