My incision has opened but Surgeon says its normal....pic attached

I am 7 weeks post op, still dissatisfied with my results but my incision reopened. My pain level has increased over the last two weeks and I was seen last week-they refilled my pain meds and said I was draining simutaneously-so draining while I am still healing. At 7 weeks I would have thought I was healed... It hurts like hell and burns when I move. I am going to try to attach a pic....I called the on-call surgeon yesterday who basically dismissed me and said I have taken pain meds too long. Not exactly the help I was looking for.

You need to see another doctor/get another doctor or do something.  This is not normal and needs to be attended to before you get a raging infection.

If your PS won't deal with this then I would see another doctor quickly.

I agree this does not look good. See another doctor for sure or go to the ER.

Agreed - this does not look good and it's most definitely NOT normal at 7 weeks post-op.

Looks like an infection which needs to be treated ASAP.

Please take care!

Hi all, thanks for the comments...I saw my surgeon today who put me on cipro for 10 days, bed rest and pain medication....holy crap, i hope this gets better soon.

Well that is a step!   Just keep a close eye on it and keep pushing him t take care of you.

Did he reclose it for you? Watch the pain meds they will constipate you terribly and you don't need that on top of this. I hope this gets better soon, I don't know why he didn't even put steri strips on it?

It would cause more problems by closing a wound that has been exposed to air for even a short period of time, especially if there is an infection because you would essentially be trapping the infection in the body. My biggest fear is my incision opening... and I was shocked to hear that they do not "close it"... but, it does make sense.

wow you're right that does make sense but omg poor girl... :( So sorry she has to have this going on.

thanks Rosie.....and no Mom_me, no reclosure because that isn't recommended with infection. Today was actually worse than yesterday so if tomorrow doesn't deem better I am am calling my PCP. Enough is enough.

Good for you and I hope the pcp can get you in soon. Let us know what they say. Did you have stitches or glue stuff?
