In need of a surgeon outside the US that is highly specialised in orthognathic surgery.

By TristanLudlow on 28 Oct 2012

I have a complex case in upper and lower jaw so I need to find a surgeon who really knows what he's doing.  I will need  3D treatment planning so I know beforehand what's going to be done.   I'd appreciate all helpful advice.

Hi Megan, I hope you're right... On a different note, I posted two questions that haven't been published yet. Do you know why? Thanks, Adrian

It looks like the questions were very similar to questions you had already submitted. Our team that publishes questions tries hard not to publish duplicate content, so if a very similar question has already been asked that one will remain published, but others will not be. Hope that helps clarify what might have happened there.

My main concern is finding the right surgeon. I'd prefer for him/her to be somewhere in Western Europe but I'll willing to go anywhere. As I said earlier my case is a tough one so I need the best maxillofacial surgeon I can find.

I hope you don't mind me asking, I'm just very curious why the US isn't a consideration for you?

I just had a very bad experience when I had a car accident in the past. I was in a comma for over a year.

Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry to hear that. :(

I do hope that other community members are able to give you referrals. If you do decide to have the surgery done please share your story so we can support you through your healing phase and others can learn from your experience.

Hello tristan, you should check out 3 doctors in Belgium: Dr van der Dussen, Dr Gwen Swennen and also Dr Mommaerts. All very professional and experienced. Also there are a few in other places like Italy but I haven't seen any of the others in person so couldn't recommend. Try the jaw surgery forums as there's a lot of discussion there.

You mentioned you need to find a surgeon outside of the US, but what area specifically are you looking for a surgeon in?

TristanLudlow 28 Apr 2013
Preferably in Europe.

Ok, hopefully a community member from Europe will be able to share some suggestions with you.
