Hi Brenna. for me i have to say on a scale of 1 to 10. i would give the tt a 1. It wasnt painful at all, just uncomfortable. ( however i would give the drain removal a 5, but only for a couple of minutes.) The breast bit ( had an uplift ) for me was a 3 that was only because i had infection after day 15. i think that bit put my recovery back by about a week.

Good luck Brenna I has a hysterectomy 10yrs ago some say recovery is similar but not as bad as they do not cut through the muscles, I am thinking it will be as bad then any less is a bonus, mine is scheduled for the 21st Jan 2013. Hope your surgery goes well xx

Hi Brenna. I am 5 weeks post op for tt and breast reconstruction. I came home with a pain pump in my stomach and that helped tremendously. It stayed in for 72 hours and then my husband pulled it. I would say the first 3 or 4 days are the most uncomfortable. Not so much pain, but just uncomfortable and really hard to move and get up and down. It's hard to give the first few days after a tt a # because you're kind of out of it. I don't think my pain level ever really got worse than a 5 or 6. The stiffness and soreness is worse as time goes by. Kind of like a bruise that gets worse before it gets better. All in all, most of us don't think it's as bad...pain wise...as we were expecting. Recovery is long and it's the soreness that's getting to me now. Good luck with your surgery!

I will pray for you. Thanks for letting me know the level of pain.. I've had surgeries, But not like the one coming up.. How are you feeling Today?? I hope you are doing great.. How long was your Surgery? So should I tell my lady Dr. To put in a pain a pump?.. Did it really help you with your pain? I'm a go getter i know I will push myself to get up and walk as much as possible, & beyond my limits.. I've been in so many bad car accidents. The doctors would tell me to rest. Me.. Rest... Not me.. But I know we have to watch all those stitches. I hope your Recovery is short.. Good luck.. Again thanks for the message. It means a lot that we ladies stick it out together.. Take care talk with you soon..... Prayer 's

I will just caution you to really listen to your doctor and don't push yourself. You're right...this isn't like any other surgery. There is a fairly common complication called a seroma where fluid collects between the muscle and the fat layer and you don't want that. They have to go back in and drain them. I haven't had one but I followed my ps directions pretty closely. If they are doing any abdominal muscle repair, you really have to watch it for a while and give your body time to heal which means REST A LOT and try to eat well during your recovery.. I would talk to your ps about the pain pump. Some of them use them and some don't. My surgery was 6 hours but that was because I also had breast reconstruction at the same time. The first week is the toughest. The second week for me, was good. The third week, I felt tired and exhausted all the time and even a little depressed. Into my fourth week, I could tell my energy level was returning but the soreness and stiffness drove me crazy. At week five, I feel pretty darn good but notice that I run out of gas if I push myself too far during the day. The soreness in my abdomen is finally starting to subside. You will find that you will feel good one day and awful the next. It goes back and forth like that for a while. That seems to frustrate most of us. Just make yourself rest and go slow the first month. ;)

Thanks for all the info. This means a lot. I know Surgery & Healing is so important to rest.. I've had 2 major Surgeries in the past and I can say it was not easy. I just took it one day @ a time.. They say; Time heals all wounds!!!!. My Mother, Husband will be with me for 12 days. This will help a lot. I wished that my son age 31 would come see me.. I don't know He means so much to me.. I have a beautiful 10 & 12 grandson & Granddaugther. They all mean the world to me.. I hope that they come see me after my up coming ordeal.. I can't wait to see after pic's of me if god is willing to get me through this ordeal. I wish you lot's of luck and Happiness. You will be even more Beautiful soon.. If not already.. ThankYou. Take care....
