Anyone with hypothyroid get a blepharoplasty?

I have sub-clinical hypothyroid and I want an upper transcutaneous lower blepharoplasty. I'm concerned about developing festoons or having other issues.  My TSH is a little high at 5.3 and my T3 is low at 60. The PS I've chosen wants me to get treated for my hypothyroid before I get surgery. (Synthroid and Armour make me lose my hair... so I don't want to take the meds...) Other plastic surgeons I've spoken with are less cautious. So, have you had your eyes done even though your thyroid is out of whack? How did it work out for you?

Hi Citroen2cv I just read your post. I would encourage you to find an internist or endocrinologist in your area you can relate to. Your TSH is actually high. We really think about sub-clincal hypothyroidism when the TSH is high but in the normal range. While you are likely able to have eyelid surgery without thyroid replacement, I think your body and mind will be much happier operating with the right amount of thyroid hormone in your system.

I just had mine done a month ago and I didn't realize till today that hypothroidism will affect me. I told my doc about my conditions before surgery and he never said anything. I'm so worried. How does it affect my eye?? Is something bad going to happen? As of right now I'm more concerned with the height of my crease.
