How can I stop being told I look tired?

22
helpful points

Lately I am getting the comment that “you look tired”. That’s even after a restful vacation and plenty of sleep. I know I have permanent bags under my eyes. I’ve faithfully used under eye cream, serums and sometimes on weekends before a special evening I use tea bags over the puffy regions. Not sure this has changed anything more than for an hour or two. I’m on a pretty tight budget, but I would go for plastic surgery if that gave me a long-lasting result.

Does anyone have suggestions on whether this the way to go?

Plastic surgery is pretty extreme. You should consider baby stepping by going with an injection like restulane which may fill in depressed areas under the eyes, or fill wrinkles such as crow feet.

LED Light treatmetns using The Revitalight system really help to tighten and tone your face and eyelids.
REally helps to make you look fresh.

I had a laser facelift -- it's not really a facelift, but the laser refreshed my under eye areas.

Under eye puffiness could be from a lack of sleep, excessive salt or alcohol intake, retaining water or the dreaded heredity. Sometimes the puffiness is the result of a fat pad that cushions the eye pulling away from the bone and sagging due to age. If you truly have excess skin that is sagging. Then yes, eye lift surgery would be a good choice. A mid face lift or an endoscopic face lift can also pull up sagging skin under the eyes. These choices are a cost commitment but would permanently reduce the puffy skin.

Mesotherapy is a plastic surgery alternative that is said to reduce fat deposits and under eye puffiness without surgery or downtime. The number of superficial injections that you need will vary from person to person but could be 20 sessions at $200 a pop.

You should consult your doctor because kidney or heart problems, steroid use and other medical conditions that cause water retention can create puffiness under eyes.

I have used an ultrasound unit from Germany for 3 month now and not only did my bags and dark cirlces around my eyes disappear, but my entire fce got a lift. My skin looks tones, healthy, hydrated, even and alive. People have commented on how great I look, while before I received comments such as: you look tired, today.

I would love to know what ultrasound device you used. I went to get permanent make-up and was allergic to the Lidocaine used to numb my eyelids. Now I have really puffy eyes and a lot of fluid retention. I know this is my issue as others had their eye done at the same time with no problems.

Hi,
I have never seen anyone with dark circles and puffy bags under their eyes like I have.
Could I please have some more information on this??
thank you!!
jane

Hi Jane,

Look at Rocky Raccoon, now those are dark circles. Kidding aside, dark circles under the eyes are a very difficult problem to get rid of.

The puffy bags usually are due to the loss of volume in our faces as we age. As we lose volume and our faces "deflate" the natural fat pads under the eyes become evident. Years ago, we corrected that by cutting out the fat pads with a blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery). Today, many patients are able to have the fat pads blend in with their cheeks by adding a small volume of Restylane (or a permanent solution, fat transfer) in the "tear trough" between the fat pads and cheek. This a very specialized use of filler and you should make sure that your physician is experienced and familiar with the anatomy. Some patients with extremely large fat pads are still candidates for blepharoplasty. Lastly, some patients may have excessive fluid in their lower cheeks, below the area of the fat pads; these are call "malar bags". Robert Goldberg, MD at UCLA Stein Eye Institute uses radiofrequency energy to shrink fluid malar bags.

Sometimes the dark circles improve with getting rid of the "puffy bags" because the shadowing improves. I have yet to hear of a topical cream or ointment that helps with lower eyelid dark circles. If anyone out there in "web" land has had success with dark circle "cures", please let us know. Be well.

Hi~ and thank you Dr. P,

I appreciate you giving me some ideas of what to look into. I have had dark circles and puffy eyes since age 16. Needless to say age has made them worse. I have purchased many products and I haven't found one yet that works. I carry concealer with me - but sometimes the concealer only makes it worse. I believe I also have 'allergy eyes.' (If there is such a thing.) So some days are worse than others. Since my 20's I have wanted to have the blepharoplasty procedure. Unfortunately, it is expensive and I keep thinking sooner or later - if my 'puffy raccoon' eyes become bad enough insurance will cover the surgery. (I use to pay medical claims and if the excess skin effects someone's eyesight insurance sometimes would cover the procedure.)
It's hard to decide now what cosmetic procedures I need the most. I have other issues with my face. Very bad creases in the forehead, crows feet, and frown lines. I still think my eyes are the worst of my flaws. I have had botox on my forehead and the results were just 'okay' and didn't last long. I was looking into collegen injections - but now that is not looking much better. I don't know. My eyes are so bad I just hate to leave the house sometimes. I can't look people in the eye. My lids feel heavy. You must think I look 'a mess.' From far away not too bad - but I don't let anyone 'too close.' Pictures!? Never if I can help it. A camera has become a big issue around my friends and family. I just can't have a picture taken.
Well, I thank you for your help. I'm getting ready to order a new product I found on the internet. It's called 'Youthology.' And it is for dark circles and puffiness. I'll let you know how it works. There is a money back guarantee.
Thanks again for your help!!
jane

Hi Jane,

I think that you should have a consult with a physician who can treat you with an aggressive Fraxel re:pair treatment. Save your money on all of the products that don't work for the circles under the eyes (but if you or anyone else ever finds one that works, please let ol' Dr. Persky know about it). I have been very impressed with the results that I am seeing with Fraxel repair. Be well.

Where do you get the ultra sound unit from? Is it costly? How long does it take for this system to work?

What is the "ultrasound unit from Germany" and where/how do I find more info on this? Thanks!

I am considering the LIFESTYLE LIFT. I have been reading comments from your site and others and cannot seem to find information as to where an incision is made and if lipo is performed to get rid of excess fat from jowls. Also, where does the extra skin that hangs down under chin (waddel) go?

I was under the assumption that the incision is just under the chin, but I have been reading about patients who have ear scars.

Could you please clarify this for me?

There are incisions around the ears, similar to short scar facelift incisions.

Wait! Don't get plastic surgery! You can look younger by using skin care products without chemicals, harsh additives, or synthetic ingredients (like all the junk that's found in mass-produced products). Use yummy products (like those on edenskiss.com, but there are lots of others) and see your tired eyes and wrinkles disappear. I've been using all-natural products for six months now and they have taken at least 5 years off my face (because my immune system isn't having to cope with a bunch of bad chemicals from my skin care products). NATURAL skin care is the answer!

I would love to have the information about the ultrasound.  Thanks!

Tom from RealSelf

We sent a message to Allie (who wrote about the ultrasound under eye circles treatment) to request more information.

In the meantime, here's additional information we have about treating dark circles:

According to the plastic surgeon organization ASAPS, you may want to consider a chemical peel:
...lower eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) can correct this problem if the darkened appearance is due to eyelid “bags” that cause shadowing, or due to fine wrinkling and bunching of the skin in the area directly below the lower eyelids, called the “tear trough.” If surgery does not completely solve the problem, a chemical peel to the area may help.

Sorry, that I did not respond sooner to the posts about the ultrasound unit from Germany. As a matter of fact it worked snd continues to work so well for my friends and myself that we have decided to sell this unit (along with other great products from MediConsult, Germany).

This unit has become the answer to many of our skin problems and made our skin come alive again. The effects of ultrasound are 2-fold: reversing the signs of aging and post-poning the aging process. Finally a non-invasive solution without negative side-effects. The unit can be used on the entire face, neck, chest, hands including cellulite. Initially one would use it once a day for 4 weeks and 2-3 times per week thereafter. Treatments take about 12-15 minutes in total time. The unit can be purchased for $ 690.00 Canadian plus shipping and comes with a 2-year warranty. It is easy to use and operates with a lithium battery.

Cheers,
Allie

Hi, I would like to know how to contact you about buying your machine for the face. Are you sure that there are no long-term negative side effects? How do I contact you about buying the machine. Thanks! Also, I am confused about how to get ahold of you so could you please send me a direct email?

To echo some of the good information found above:
Often surgery is not really necessary for dark circles under the eyes and a tired appearance. In many cases, this is due to a loss of volume in the area known as the naso-jugal fold - the semi-circle shaped area where the cheek meets the under eye. When this is the case, a filler such as Restylane or Juvederm is a much better idea than surgery, because you need to replace the volume, not remove skin. Here in LA, there are alot of women walking around Beverly Hills with sunken, unnatural looking eyes because of too aggressive blepharoplasty procedures. I have had a great deal of success with simple Restylane injections - it takes 5 minutes, there's limited bruising, no pain and the results last for over a year. This is a new procedure and it takes some skill to do, so not too many doctors do it well. Always ask for before and after photos and find out how long the doctor has been doing this specific procedure. Just because they're a plastic surgeon doesn't mean they're good at injection procedures. I have been doing this for 2 years and there's a bunch of info on my website about it: http://www.westsidemedicalspa.com/non_surgical_bleph.html.
By the way, I tried Mesotherapy for my patients, and I found it to be not worth the swelling and downtime. Results are OK, but you look like a raccoon for several weeks.
I'm also happy to respond to e-mails.
Hope this helps.

Dr. Rivkin,
I have read your post above and visited your web site. I am a 43 year old male who has had "hallow" eyes for many years. I workout on a regular basis and am in very good shape otherwise, low body fat. I have finally decided to have something done and have so far gone to 4 different plastic surgeons for thier opinion. Only one has actaully suggested a filler, which i would prefer, but he suggested Sculptra. I have searched and searched the web for info to try and decide which option is best...Restylane or Sculptra based on the area treated and side affects. Your candid opinion would be greatly appreciated.

hi TA,
unless you have severe loose skin or fat fullness under your eyes, a lower blepharoplasty at 43 would not usually be a wise procedure to do, i think. as we age, we lose volume and fat. it would be a shame to have fat that you actually need removed with surgery. most people need more volume, not less when they get dark circles. if you'd like you can send me your pictures and i can tell you for sure. i've had outstanding results with fillers, not sculptra. i don't think that sculptra is precise enough for under the eyes. the contours have to be perfectly smooth, and i don't think that sculptra can do that. juvederm would last for about a year and a half, so there's really no advantage to sculptra under the eyes.

dr rivkin,
I am a 43 y/o male who has suken cheeks and sunken upper eyelid (upper eyelid depression?) but only on the left upper eyelid. I have had hormone tests (not limited to thyroid) which are within the normal range (have read that near optimal/optimal range may be preferred for some). The strangest part of this is that in the mornings when I awake, I notice that my upper eyelids are PERFECTLY SHAPED: JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF PUFFINESS. When time passes through the day, the left upper eyelid sinks inward....interesting. Anyway, what procedure/product would you recommend for sunken cheeks AND sunken eyelid(s).

Many thanks in advance.

leepers

Hi leepers,

This question showed up on my e-mail, so I thought I would give you a "second" opinion.

Fat transfer is the most permanent of fillers to take care of loss of volume in the cheeks and periorbital areas. Of the temporary fillers, Radiesse works very for volume in the cheek area, jaw line, and perioral area (not the lips), while Restylane works great around the eyes.

Most importantly choose your physician carefully, make sure that they are experienced (especially around the eyes). Good luck and be well.

My doctor totally botched the restylane under my eyes. I have a bump then a big divot under my right eye and my bag is more pronounced under my left eye. Plus I had really bad brusing which lasted for two weeks. I'm scheduled to go back but paranoid to see those results. One thing that I wondered is whether I should have been sitting down or lying down for the procedure. My doctor did the injections while I was lying down and it seems to me they should have been done while I was sitting up so that he could actually see the bags. He has offered my a free tube of restylane because he botched it up and it was nice that he admitted that he didn't do a good job. I'm located in Illinois otherwise I would go to your office for my repair job.

Dr. Rivkin,

I naively went in for a consultation to a dermatologist for filler underneath the eye area. I had slight hollowing due to age. I am 33 (almost 34) years old. I asked his advice. He recommended I have a filler injected and explained rare side effects. I went through with the procedure that visit and have regretted it ever since. I was one of the "rare" people he says who have difficulty clearing lymph channels in the under eye area. My result is that I have huge bags and a terminal tired look under the eyes. Since my eyes look worse than ever, I have resorted to hiding beneath a pair of big glasses to cover the bags.

I went back to see him and he said it was very unfortunate this happened and I could most likely expect the appearance to be better in two months. This all happened December 20th, 2007. The result is still bad bags to this day. I was wondering if I should get a consult to a plastic surgeon who specializes in eyes. Another thought I had is maybe the filler was just not injected properly. Do you have any suggestions? I am desperate to get a better result and would prefer to not have surgery if possible. The filler was juvederm. Is there any way to reverse its affect that is safe?

Please help.

Sincerely,

Lynn

Dear Lynn,

I had the EXACT SAME experience with undereye fillers. I had botox treatments all around my eyebrows and eyes along with the periorbitol (sp?) restylane filler, which was injected directly under my eyes. I had this done by {edited} in Los Angeles. He was an Opthalmologist and has a very different way of injecting botox. The first time I had this done, it looked great. The second time however, I had horrendous bruising and swelling and two big bumps under my eyes that took months to go away. Now, the skin under my eyes looks worse than when I ever did anything. The skin sags dramatically (which I never had), I have puffiness (which I also never had), and the skin looks kind of "crispy". I am so upset. All I wanted was to try the filler to fill-in the (tiny) groove that I had, but I listened to the doctor's recommendation and thought, hey it's not permanent! I have no idea if it was the botox injected under my eyes (and all around the crow's feet areas, too) or if it was the restylane that caused the damage, but now I look about ten years older than last year. I have no idea what to do now. Will a chemical peel help repair and tighten the loosened skin? I look at pictures of myself last year before this treatment and I want to cry. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Editor note: If you would like to review your experience with a particular provider or clinic, please write your treatment review and enter the provider or clinic name in the field provided.

Hi Dr Rivkin:
I just had rediesse injections to plump up the hollowing in my cheeks. The swelling has gone down and I can see some results. I also had some botox injections around my eyes. I'm happy that I found these alternative to plastic surgery.
Can you recommend alternatives for under eye puffiness (I've tried diet changes and tea bags with no results) and tightening the area under my jaw and neck?
I really appreciate your advice.

Two words: essential oils.
(Only pure ones, needless to say.)

They really, REALLY work.

Can you please suggest the essential oils for dark circles and puffiness.

What are the essential oils for puffiness

Hi!

I would also like to know more about essential oils for undereye bags.

Thanks!

Im a beauty theapist and I've seen a lot of 'tired' skin conditions. I do think that surgery could be a bit drastic not to mention expensive. Its hard to say without examining your skin properly but it could just be down to a bad diet and maybe even over-cleansing and over-treatment. Our eyes are so sensitive and if you are constantly applying a multitude of products you may be making the problem worse. I know of people that apply anti-aging products around their eyes religiously but the skin is so delicate that it dries out and looks a million times worse! It may be worth while visiting a dermatologist or a beauty therapist to seek some advice from them before you decide to make any big decisions...

I get the same kind of questions. I take medication that sucks out the moisture from my face and specifically my eyes. This leaves bags under my eyes and makes them look tired. I’ve tried several several products without any improvement. Stuff that costs #3 to stuff that costs $75 – no great results. However… to be nice to a friend of mine because she sells skin care and cosmetics, I bought eye soothing gel from her. I figured what’s some extra money I would have wasted anyways…at least she would get some money… Unbelievably, it works.

Now, I read Dani's blog for all of her tips and advice
and when I need something extra, I just shoot her an email and buy it from her. She now knows what my skin needs and I don’t have to answer the same questions over and over again... are you dry or you oily have you tried..... she already has all of my information.

I would love to get more information. Can you ask your friend to shoot off an email to me?
Thanks

has anyone had the mesotherapy procedure done for the under eye fat pad removal? If so, were you happy with the results and what should I expect? I would love to see some before and after pics.. Thanks

i would really watch out for mesotherapy under the eyes. there is a long downtime, where you look swollen and bruised. i stopped doing it because my patients would complain that the downtime was so long for a result that was good, but not great.

Dr. Rivkin, I had an upper bleph 8 years ago. It seemed like a very long recovery, and I never felt "comfortable" with my new eyes. My biggest concern is that my eyes seemed smaller afterwards. Also,my left eye appeared to have a double lid (maybe the cut was not placed correctly). Regardless, I got used to it and I was able to live with it. Through the years, I still feel discomfort, mostly first thing in the morning. Some days worse than others. It's gotten worse through the years. Can you tell me why sometimes I can barely put eyeliner on because my eyelids are barely there; then the next day they're a little larger. After a shower my eyelids are large and look refreshed and very normal with a nice lid showing. After a few hours they "shrink" again. I want to have eyelid surgery again because of outer drooping (due to aging) and a lower bleph because of bags I've now developed, but I'm concerned to do this with the erratic swelling of my lids. Do you have any idea what my problem might be?

I have had 2 lipodissolve treatments for the fat pad under my eyes. Yes the downtime is too long and I do see a little bit of improvement, but it take me 3 hours to get to the Dr.s office. Each treatment is costing me $350. My question to you, do you think I should try the restalyne injections? and how long does this last?

wow! that is a lot of info to take in for dark circles....I was curious about this because I used to suffer from dark circles really bad....I always got the "you look tired" and the "let's check for anemia" from doctors (just so you know I am not anemic and that is not what I am suggesting) For the last 6 monthes or so I have been using Kate Somerville Line Release Under Eye repair and it works FABULOUS....I love it!

Dr. Rivkin,

Thanks so much for your advice.

I'm a dark-skinned black female and have terrible bags under my eyes -- no problem with dark circles under my eyes. I was exploring mesotherapy to get rid of the bags but, now that I've read your comments, I plan to look at other things as well. Do you think either Restylane and Juvederm would be effective with the issue I'm experiencing? Do you have any advice for what other non-surgical procedures I might consider?

THANKS!

Ruth

Dark circles and bags under the eyes can be hereditary or caused by other factors. Things like cold compresses, tea bags and cucumbers can help the puffiness. There are also some great eye creams and eye masks on the market that will help as well.

Hereditary dark circles are more difficult to alliviate. I would recommend colour correctors (illusion tones). They are cosmetic products that neutralize colour. The way they work is based on the fact that covering a colour with it's opposite colour (on the colour wheel)will neutralize both colours. Since most dark circles are blue or voilet their opposites peach (orange) or yellow will neutralize the colour. The trick is to really look at the true colour of the circles and make sure you are using the opposite colour. Using a concealer or foundation after the coluor corrector will smooth everything out and make it look even more natural.

I have read that one of the contributing factors (aside from ageing) of under-eye puffiness is a thyroid condition. I also believe that sometimes it may be difficult to receive a diagnosis of an improperly functioning thyroid. I wonder how many people have had their hormones checked before consulting with a plastic surgeon?

my daughter, whoe is only 9 now is getting them, she's tried everything, even creams and serums, they work for about an hour makup only strains the look and then its even more noticable then before, she's now gotten so relunctent and with drawn that she comes home, goes upstairs, enters the bathroom door, comes down holding every cosmetic, makeup set, creames etc.in her arms, slumps onto the couch, turns the t.v. to her favorite show, and stair into her hand mirror, and completely blankes out, she hardly does anything anymore, I mean this has agrivated her,I have absalutely NO idea how to make it go away, she hanging with all her what she believes to be an last resort, the option of plastic surgery, she's been begging me and begging me in every way possible to let her do it, notes honts, she ven changed my ringtone, I'm about to give eithen though shes only 9 and its risky, she hardly smiles any more, so if any body reading this has a stradigie besides plastic surgery thats kid- freindly please reply.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't have a solution, but plastic surgery at 9 years old seems entirely too risky, especially considering how much her eyes will change as she grows. I would suggest taking her to a dermatologist (ask around and get a good recommendation for your area). A good dermatologist should be able to suggest all the options, not just invasive surgery, that could help. And do try the color-wheel make-up suggestion posted above. If you can find the right shade opposite the color of the circles, it really works as a temporary solution.

Your daughter has body dismorphic disorder. Get her some therapy or it will only get worse.

This may a case of allergies to what she is eating or in the environment! Dark circles are often a sign of dehydration as well. Get you daughter to an allergist and get her to drink more water.

Dear Larissa,

Your post about your 9 year old daughter is very sad. I recently submitted a post to the website explaining how I got rid of my undereye circles (AMAZING!). In a nutshell, here's the regemin I followed:

1. I go to bed at 9:30 pm with the lights out. It is important to be in darkness for a few hours before midnight. I do this every night.
2. I leave the window blinds open so that the morning sun naturally wakes me up at sunrise.
3. I eat one grapefruit per day (this is important for vitamin C which stimulates collgen production.)
4. I eat whole grain bread.
5. I eat one spoonful of nutritional yeast each day (mixed with yogurt or oatmeal).
6. For good measure, I eat 5 servings of fruits and veggies each day.

Sounds pedestrian, but it has worked wonders for me after years of frustration!

Good luck!

i had thermage done and im only 23 its been six months and i now have really bad hollowing under my eyes im unsure to if this will get worse over time. what can i do ? should i have fillers ? but does this really look natural ? i had temporary aquamid in my lips and you get bumps & it doesnt feel naturaul in the lips is it different for the eyes ? whats the best filler for eyes? & what about fat grafts ?? any ideas anyone ? its really getting me down & its not just the eyes i need something for my sunken cheeks 2 i wish i never had thermage done. i dont know what to do ? any advice would be great! thanx

Hi Miss Cold,

It is unfortunate that you suffered hollowing from the Thermage treatment. Fillers, I prefer Restylane, work extremely well and should look natural if performed properly. I would not try aquamid under your eyes. Restylane is the most dependable filler in my hands under the eyes. Fat grafts are a more permanent solution, but again they must be done properly or your complications will be permanent, and/or very difficult to correct. Both of these filling procedures should be performed only by a physician who has experience. For your sunken cheeks, a great filler is Radiesse, injected deep from inside your mouth. For a permanent fix, again fat transfer is the way to go. You can contact me if you would like a recommendation of a referral closest to your part of the country. Be well and good luck.

Dear Dr. Persky,

I live in Annapolis, MD and would like to know who you would recommend to do the fillers in my cheeks. I have had the naso labial folds done and they did good, but didn't seem to want to do my cheeks.

Thanks.

Suzanne

Hi Suzanne,

I don't know of anyone in Annapolis, but in Baltimore I would recommend Ira Papel, MD, and in Chevy Chase I would refer you to Jennifer Parker Porter, MD. Good luck with your cheek fillers, and be well.

I have been told my whole adult life how "tired" I supposedly look, while also being told constantly how "sad" and how "young" I supposedly look. all are horribly irritating to me. I do not understand how being told you look "young" is a compliment. I find all three remarks horribly rude. I am not even willing to consider changing anything about my sleeping habits or my face (no surgery, nothing, ever) to change any of this. I think what needs to change are other people's manners. their perceptions and their manners need to change.

I have had the same thing happen to me all of my life. I am so sick of walking down the hall in my office with people saying "smile" or "why so sad?" I finally took a very critical view of my mouth area and I believe that the corners are somewhat turned down when I'm not smiling - thus making me look like I'm pouting or about to cry. One day I was at the grocery store on my way home from work when the 20-something check-out guy put his hand on my arm and said, "Ma'am, you shouldn't be so sad ... it can't be that bad." Can you believe the nerve??? I've thought that may some fillers at the edge of my lips may help them look more turned up. But, if I end up with fat lips like so many other women, I will THEN be sad. I have also inherited the dark circles and fat pads under my eyes. I'm considering Restylane or Juvederm on those, but I worry about doing something to my eyes. Otherwise, I have always been told my eyes are beautiful.

I recently had my eyebrows shaped by a professional (for the first time in my life). When I went to work the next day, people thought I had done Botox. There is something about shaping the eyebrows that can make you appear younger and less tired.

I have had dark under eye circles since I was a young child. People can be rude in commenting, someone once told me I looked tired but then said but i dont know you, maybe you always look like that! Some people just have dark circles as a hereditary thing, in some cases diet and other allergens can really exacerbate the problem, and the posibility of kidney problems should not be overlooked.

Topical creams will have little or no effect on true dark circles (dont waste your money),peels may help as might lymphatic drainage massage. Most dark circles are caused by blood pooling in the area so it is really about the particular face you get. The pigment is often worsened by sun damage on top of that and this could maybe be improved by peels or laser. I hope no doctor would do cosmetic surgery on a nine year old, it is sad enough she is so obsessed with her appearance at such a young age. I would suggest pointing out that some celebrities have dark circles (and great makeup artists) and make a scrap book of photos. I have found this useful as a self esteem exercise with young women. Cameron Diaz and Brittany Murphy are both gorgeous and successful but have dark under eye circles.

The only treatment I would personally consider is the laser eyelift would love to hear any comments

Hi Gemfish,

Dark circles under the eyes are a most difficult problem to resolve. If the tear trough hollow is accentuating the shadow, improvement is obtained with a very small amount of Restylane, blending the "bag" with the cheek. If there is an excessive amount of "bag"(fat pad) then surgery can correct it. The most promising "laser eyelift" that is non-surgical is Fraxel re: pair, the brand new fractionated ablative carbon dioxide laser. The early results have been most impressive. Be well and good luck.

Really, I'm telling you one Revitalight LED treatment and you will be hooked! They use this device before the golden globes to help the nominees look fabulous and the doctor that does the extreme make over show uses it to help the people both look great and heal faster. It really is a miraculous device.
It is not expensive and you get results the first time. Usually takes 6 treatments. Check it out, Opra did.

Many doctors keep saying Sculptra and Fat Grafting are the two best methods of re-volumizing the deflated aging face.
They say sculptra and fat grafting are particularly effective in filling out the hollowness around the eyes... above, below and on the sides of the eyes.
Anyone have any further info on how to volumize the hollowness around eyes on an aging face?

Hi Paul,

The use of Restylane in the tear trough hollow around the eye on the aging face is quite effective. Likewise, the use of Radiesse injected from inside of the mouth deep to the muscles of the midface is very effective at reliably restoring volume to the aging face. I too am a big fan of fat transfer when it is performed properly. I do not use Sculptra as I have seen problems from other physicians. Be well and good luck.

I am always tired and have horrible allergies to pollen. I find that using one of those gel masks works great! The look of tiredness can be a multitude of issues with your health. You should do a whole overhaul of your diet and sleep regimen and even your exercise routine.

Dear Gossipgirl11,

Without a picture, it is hard to say what can be done to make you look less tired. A lot of patients that have the complaint that they look tired benefit from what is called a chemical brow lift. A chemical brow lift is a procedure where Botox is used to try to raise and shape the eyebrows. Botox NEVER raises the eyebrows directly. The only way that Botox can be used to raise the eyebrows is to relax the muscles that pull the eyebrows down which allows the forehead muscles to gently raise the eyebrows. If the forehead muscles are strong enough, the injector can slightly weaken the medial (inside) portion of the forehead muscles just a little which will cause the outside of the eyebrows to be raised a little more than the inside of the eyebrows. This can give a very pretty "winged eyebrow" appearance. Care must be taken to avoid raising the lateral (outside) eyebrows too much. If the lateral eyebrows are raised too much, you can look like Mr. Spock on Startrek! If this does happen, don't panic. The injector can use tiny amounts of Botox to bring the eyebrows back down a little so that you can still have the very feminine winged eyebrows. This process usually helps get rid of that "tired look". If you would like to see some examples of this procedure, you can go to http://www.epilution.com/photos.html?category=botox
