Has anyone heard of a "numbing" injection during TT?

A girl I used to work with had a tummy tuck and raves about how UNpainful it was. She swears it was because her PS gave her a "numbing" injection into her muscle area before sewing her up. She said her whole stomach was numb for 3  days. I am going to start having consultations with PSs soon and want to know if anyone else knows about this so I know what to ask about...   thanks!

Yes, my I had a numbing pump for 7 days post-op. I worked well for me. I took zero vicodin and took only childrens tylenol 80-160 mg for 3-4 days post op. Pain really only when I coughed.

Yes its true. Not sure how long the numbing agent lasts but my PS injects some sort of numbing stuff into my abs before closing me up. I also had a BA done and felt more pain from that then the TT so maybe the numbing stuff really did work.

Yes I watched it on u-tube. Iam always on u-tube to gain my info & different types of TT/MR. This helped me to ask my PS question I would have never thought of.{ pain relief,binder, drains, catheter}. I wrote all my questions before I had my consultation . Having my op 16th Jan in Birmingham uk. Good luck

Thank you for responding. Did your ps tell you he/she was going to be doing that? I am wondering how I should word that question during my consultation. I am going to be having a BA done as well as my TT so that is good to know as I am so much more afraid of the TT pain.

Did your PS tell you he/she would be doing that or did you have to ask? You are now the second person who said it made such a difference so I want to make sure I address it. Do you have any suggestions for how I would ask that during the PS consultation? Thank you so much!

He actually volunteered the information to me in our first consult. He went over the entire procedure and pain meds etc... I would just flat out ask if he/she uses any sort of numbing injections into the abdomen before they close you up. Honestly, I'm sure thats why my TT hasn't been as painful as I have read on here for some. I'm not saying my TT didnt incapacitate me (bc its 8 days and I still havent been able to stand up straight-normal, I still need help getting out of bed in the morning- normal, and I really havent left my room too much bc its exhausting) but I never had that burning pain or anything like that in my abs after my TT. Like I said, my BA hurt the worst and my whole body felt stiff and like I had been hit by a truck (lol) but my abs didnt hurt (and apparently he sewed me up super tight with double sutures).

I saw 3 doctors. The first 2 did not mention the numbing med. The 3rd did talk about it when i asked what his pain management plan consisted of. I chose the 3rd doc because of his pain mgmt and i felt more confortable with him than i did with the other docs.
