Has anyone had or heard of Dr Van Canneyt for rhinoplastry?
By louisejef on 10 Jan 2012
Hi All, Im booked to have rhinoplastry on 30th March 2012 with Dr Van Canneyt at the Elyzea clinic Belgium, Has anyone had him? i would really appreciate some feedback! I just want the hump on my nose taken away and left straight and possibly my nose brought in a tad to stop it looking to long,( see pic) Im a bit scared now after reading other peoples stories who have been left with an upturned nose (by diffrent surgeons) x
I had a tip plasty and septoplasty with Dr Van Canneyt on May 12th 2012 and while I'm not 100% happy due to the septum still not being completely straight + it's more swollen on one side, the operation itself was a success and my nose already looks so much better! However as Olivia123 pointed out, the service at Elyzea is a joke. I only saw Dr Canneyt once before the operation for 5 minutes, when he introduced himself and drew two circles on my nose. You definitely get the sense that you're on a conveyor belt, they kept pressing me to leave only 20 minutes after I'd woken up from the op! I ended up being sick in the cab back to the hotel which was not the nicest experience.
After care has been fine. I've seen Sue Dechamps several times for check ups since and she's been nothing but wonderful!
Overall, despite the surgery being a success, my experience with Elyzea has been mostly negative and I wouldn't recommend them. I rushed into surgery with them as I've been wanting my nose done for years and couldn't afford Harley St prices, but part of me wishes that I had at least had a few more consultations first. And I wish I'd heard about Dr Oelbrandt before my surgery too!
Have you booked revision work with elyzea? I have started up my own review on here so if you are interestedon how it goes you can see :)
I initially wanted to do this in 2006 but I missed my appointment with Dr Oelbrandt. So he has been there some years. I don't recall been given a choice of surgeons curiously this time around.
Everything will be fine, just look after yourself in terms of organising flights/trains, accomodation/routes in advance because the procedure itself was a doddle for me but travelling back post-op was tiring. Late trains/hotel reception altercations etc. You don't need that stress.
Post here and let us know what happened afterwards as there is not a lot of info on them and they are a very large business serving all Europe.
You're very welcome. Looking forward to seeing what you think once you're on the other side. :0)

Hi there and welcome to RealSelf! I haven't heard of the doctor you mention, but then, I'm much more familiar with doctors in the US. Make sure he specializes in rhinoplasty and that you communicate to him that you do not want your tip brought up. You also might want to discuss whether or not you want a "scooped" nose or left straight. That's one thing I did not clarify with my PS and wish I had.
Good luck and please consider starting your story in RealSelf's rhinoplasty review community. (Click on Write a Review). Here you can upload photos and video if you'd like, post updates, and get some good support from others! Hope to see you there soon!
