Hi Chinawhite, is there any chance we could email or talk? I did not go through Elyzea and used Dr Van Canneyt independently and am interested to know if there is anything I can do to prevent him doing this to anyone else.

Hey there, an update from my previous post, I genuinely feel for your bad experiences from this surgeon, though a few things need to be clarified regarding both surgeon AND clinic which I am going to share on every message board that includes either of them. Elyzea are aware that this "Doctor" has nothing but bad feedback against his name, thus do not provide the surgeon details until you have paid the £400+ deposit, therefore making it less likely for you to back out of the procedure, on the chance you may have done a bit of internet research etc. I am unable to use specific names at this stage Sue to legal proceedings I am initiating against them, but the lady you will meet at your consultation will attempt to give the impression that she is the surgeon, I think she is even wearing a white coat (appalling), but this is to stop requests for actual surgeon details. There is no need not to give the surgeon details at the time of the consultation due to them only have this one guy operating there (previous surgeons apparently left due to unacceptable working conditions). I believed at the time of the operation that it was just myself that made the assumption that it would be her that performed it, but speaking to a couple of other separate parties it appears that they too were completely under the false impression that she would be operating. Really, this is unacceptable on every possible level. They hide behind this Belgium law about the surgeon rather than the clinic having to take responsibility, even though the money was paid to them. This is still unacceptable on a UK Trading Standards level if they are selling this business in the UK, no matter where it is being performed. I have now read about people getting REALLY f&cked up by them, even being awarded payouts by English courts, though still they refuse to even give a basic refund due to this nonsensical Belgium law. I will keep you updated with the outcome of this. No longer after a refund as such, just want them closed down (in the UK at least) to stop them doing this to anybody else. If they just did an unsatisfactory job it could be explainable, but when they only do half of what they were paid for due to their severe over scheduling/greed and leave people in utter peril, something needs to be done.

This sounds very strange to me! as the lady who did my initial consultation made it clear from the start that she is not the surgeon, but does work with him during surgery assisting, and would be present at my surgery, which she was. I was given the name of my surgeon at my initial consultation. The same goes for 2 of my friends, who have since had surgery after my recommendation, and all 3 of us have had fantastic results and couldn't be happier. In regard to the white coat, I think this is just appropriate attire for a surgical nurse, and not an attempt to pretend to be a surgeon/deflect questions about your surgeon.

I have not had surgery with Elyzea as yet but did go for a consultation and did think that the European lady would be carrying out the procedure. Maybe she does do some of the operations as my consultation was of a very personal nature.

That was for you poppyfields (Elyzea), not you Patience1!!!

Eloquent. Rather, not very eloquent and certainly not very nice. Are you trying to convey an idea or concept? If so, could you please explain?

Apologies Emma Louise. I understand. I hadn't read your second comment.

Hello Olivia, was that aimed at me? I was just explaining that "poppyfields" is making a false statement on behalf of Elyzea to try to disregard remarks that are being made against Elyzea. From your other comments I think you may have picked up my remarks incorrectly. Trust me, there is no reason for you to be negative against my comments (we are on the same side), unless I have misread the situation.

Hi Olivia, thinking now that you have don me a favour and helped me rearrange my English for a better cause...or maybe not :)

Yes. I get that. Your second comment hadn't come through so I hadn't understood what you meant. I was just being a bit annoyed and passionate about the whole thing. It's a relatively free country and you are entitled to use whatever English you want to use.

I'm not making any false statements, my comments are from my own experience. Working with the public i know how much people love to complain and exaggerate when they do so. BULLSHIT to you
  • Reply
and don't any of you people ask questions in your consultation, like who will be my surgeon? what is their experience? You telling me they wouldn't say, or lied? lol BULLSHIT

No notes pre surgery, no advice immediately post surgery, no back notes at my 1yr consultation. Who knows, maybe he works just fine looking at body parts and taking decisions instantly? Like a Picasso? But to the discerning patient it looks unprofessional doesn't it? Anyone from Elyzea care to chime in on that? Poppy? Please note I'm talking about Rhinoplasty here which is a complex procedure especially revision surgery and maybe he's not skilled enough to do it. That's why you should choose a good outfit/surgeon. I've read surgeon's suggestions on this site that 2nd time surgery is best avoided as far as possible. My concern is if I ever go to a specialist rhino revision surgeon now he may say I can't have a 2nd operation because of risks. So if they knew, a) They couldn't give me what I wanted and b) They could never give me revision surgery on what I was never going to get in the first place, why were they so quick to take my money? Is this ethical? Dissatisfaction was inevitable but the last person to realise that is the patient. I've contributed my bit to the cut price surgery abroad culture but I've limited it by shelving plans to get another procedure done. If they'd done things differently they would of got my business - but not now. Use the money for that holiday you were planning and put it towards your UK surgery if it is important to you. All the best Danni and all.

I had liposuction with Dr Van Canneyt and the results were more than unsatisfactory. When I returned for my six month consultation, he initially denied that the huge dents left in my lower abdomen were a surgical error when there is no doubt that the unevenness is a result of too aggressive lipo, but when pressed regarding a solution, he only suggested that I see someone else. No revision surgery was offered and no responsibility taken. There are a few other things that happened in his clinic that I haven't mentioned here, but which were wholly unprofessional. Suffice it to say that having experienced his service and surgical skills, I would not ever recommend him to anyone. Incidentally, he had no notes when he saw me pre-surgery either.

Olivia, I am so pleased that I found your posts. I had several surgeries with Dr Van Canneyt, going back to re-do several surgeries. But even after going the second time for these surgeries he did not create any difference and several British doctors were apalled this guy is allowed to practice. I have now to invest more money into correcting every single one of his surgeries and I have to do it between my regular bouts of sickness as I have been sick since he did my surgeries. Not only my visibility is limited but my lungs seemed to have been affected because of poor bleph, rhynoplasty, nevermind rubbish (very small area) lipo. If this happened to me, previously so healthy and athletic, then it can happen to anyone. I am so tired of being always sick and I am really keen on taking some action.
