Hardness after smartlipo?

It has been 3 weeks since I had smartlipo on my upper & lower ab's. I love the results, only I have this hardness that I'm told will go away with time & massage & that it's just my body doing it's thing after smartlipo. Anybody else have this hardness & if yes, did it go away? Worried to have anymore smartlipo done if this is the result!

It is very normal to have the hardness after smartlipo. It is typically scar tissue build up. Massage will help and our office recommends VelaShape about 6 weeks after surgery- we include 3 complimentary treatments for our patients.

I had those hard spots and lumpiness for about 6 months. But they are gone. I massaged them every chance I got. It hurt a little but I dealt with it. The only issue I have now, BIG issue, is now I have a SQUARE shaped stomach. If you look at me from the front, you don't really see it. But if I were in a bathing suit standing side ways you would see the squareness. Really Yucky... I will be trying something to see if it helps minimize it. Crossing my fingers cuz I can not afford a tummy tuck.

Has anyone had safelipo with a tummy tuck?

sorelydisappointed, it's so ironic that you mention now having a square stomach. I've noticed that my stomach is no longer round and my waist line is no longer curvy. Many years ago, I went to a board certified plastic surgeon for breast reduction surgery and she performed a magnificent job! If only I had used her again instead of the butcher who jacked my stomach up to the tune of $5,500!

My lipo was actually free. Had won 3 areas for free. I chose to upper and lower stomach and love handles. The hardness is gone completely but the squareness is still there. I got to exercising and lost some more weight thinking this would get rid of the extra fat deposits left anywhere in my stomach area but it didn't help. Its still square!!! And I lost an additional 10 lbs. UGH!

Nothing is free . . . wait til you see what it's going to cost to fix it (assuming you ever do).

Yeah I have the same problem my stomach has a completely different shape very unattractive.

That's because the doctor reshape your Stalmach doing the procedure while the fat was still soft. I have the same problem my stomach is also Square and it looks like his handprints are still on my stomach

I know.. its already cost me :( so sad, was hoping it would be better than it is now.

Yeah, he was pinching that area to make sure he was getting the fat and not too much. Maybe thats why its shaped that way now. Now I will have to get a tummy tuck. Dang, now where do I find the money for that procedure to fix this issue?

I Have hard middle part of my stomach after smartlipo and the doctor will fix it if necessary. Have you tried to speak to your doctor about a touch up, which usually won't cost much or even be free?

It took a while for the hardness to go away but it finally did. I just kept massaging it and such. My concern now is the SHAPE of my belly now. Its SQUARE! I sent pictures to the people who did my smart lipo and was told that my results were awesome. Yeah right. AND the pubic area was not part of my lower stomach so that was untouched. Now my pouch is there. I would get a tummy tuck if I could afford it. Now I am stuck with this for the rest of my life.

That's awful! I'm so sorry to hear that! I've been going back & forth with the tummy tuck decision since it's so expensive but my husband says to just do it. I feel guilty spending that much money on something cosmetic!

With a tummy tuck, you will get EXACTLY what you want. Its a hit and miss with smart lipo thats for sure.

I had mine done May 15th, upper and lower stomach and love handles. I wore my compression garment for 2 days adjusting as needed but it left some major indents. I moved to s tighter body contouring one that covered the entire stomach and came up around the shoulders. I had smart lipo too. But because of the swelling I had, now i have loose skin under my bra line. My stomach use to be big and stick out but it was round. Now I have a square looking stomach. Its hard major hard when I am standing but when I lay down on my back i can rub it and its soft to the touch. So no hardness, no lumpiness but I don't understand why its SQUARE. I am afraid its going to stay like that. I still have pain in my sides like tons of needles going through my skin. I can rub it and it feels better but if I sit too long the pain comes back. I have also been on a diet to loose more of the weight but still the ugly square tummy is there. I also exercise and run. But no change. So scared this was a big mistake.

I just started getting that pain in my left side. It's not terrible but it feels like burning or sticking. I'm afraid it's going to get worse. I'm terrified.. I do honestly think this was a waste of money, time & most of all I could've used that money on my kids instead of being selfish. I'm not sure about the squareness!!! That's seems super strange. Have you asked the dr?

I am with you on being square. I have one hip swollen and is very round and sticks out worse than before the procedure. The other hip comes out square. I could probably place a half dollar there and it would stay. Really. Glad you can be as active as you are. I am also afraid of what I consider could be permanent disfiguration. Hoping in time, it will get better. You can read my full profile on this site.

I can understand your guilt. I think the same thing. Waste of money that could have been spent wisely elsewhere, especially our kids. And to add to that, we voluntarily put ourselves thru this journey. We also beat ourselves up wanting to go back in time and wondering why we did this to ourselves. Hanging in there!

Okay, I'll go read it. I'm hoping we are just slow healers & all this will be okay.

That pain like a ton of needles poking you is now gone for me. It had gotten worse before it got better. I put the question out there on their facebook page but no response. Lets see what happens when I finally post my own picture of MY results on there for them. See if that makes them comment..

I am 4 months out, and mad about the money I wasted. The doc said "your measurements haven't changed. You're the only patient that's happened to..." That was at my 2 month post op visit. Bet he won't post my story on his website. The prickly pain is finally gone, as are the rod/ track like feelings unde my skin. But... To me the fat seems to have just been dispersed more. Still upset and annoyed. Poor investment.

I agree with you!! Don't let anyone tell you it gets better, it doesn't. I'm now 6 months out & kicking myself for wasting the money. I have huge lumps & no inches lost. I went to see a plastic surgeon & he said he could try to break the lumps up with steroid injections. I think I'm going to just do a tummy tuck. My stomach will never be the same after SmartLipo!! Good luck & I hope things start looking better. I
